  • Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker created one of the first Super Groups in the late 60's. They named it Cream. Songs like Sunshine of your Love, Badge, Crossroads, and White Room were just a few of many they wrote and created. They may have had their differences personally, but musically they left their mark and were a pioneer in Rock & Roll Music. This video is a quick mini documentary about it all.

    One of the first records I bought with my own money from working as a caddy was Wheels of Fire in 1969.
    It’s still one of my favorites today.
    I tortured my poor parents blasting it from my little stereo, my dad screaming “ turn that music down”

    This band was literally lighting in a bottle. I loved everything about these guys. At the time they hit everything I truly loved about the blues. Clapton was phenomenal in his guitar jams! Never gets old for me!

      Yes he was. He actually deserves a video of his own someday. I would really consider him a talented multi-instrumentalist. Not many people know about his early musical upbringing. Thanks for watching and your comment!

    There’s actually 4 albums; including Goodbye, their last. And that doesn’t include the live albums or compilations that came later. A lot of work in two years might’ve also contributed to their demise. They were driven like slaves by management. Great documentary as always, sir! Happy 2024 to you and yours and everyone here. Thank you!

    Some how, this got me thinking of Ellen Mcllwaine.
    She got along with Jack Bruce, from what I understand.
    Gone now, she had the delicate touch of Hendrix and a fire only she had.
    I got on her case over her use of a
    E Bow, because her slide work made with out it , was phenomenal.
    Her version of 'Wasted and can't find my way home' , is gut wrenchingly beautiful.
    The power of her attack got up to the power of Danny Gatton.
    One night her strat bridge blew apart, we crawled around looking for an intonator, which refused to show itself. She had a back up guitar and an old Guild flat top, she called 'Grandma,'.
    I expect she has been on your radar. If not, check her out! Chris

    Awesome RDFor some reason I remember hearing Sunshine of your love for the 1st time in the late 60s or early 70s when I was 9 or 10 years old. I was a Navy brat living in Naples Italy. Somehow I heard it one day on a Jukebox at a Snack bar on base. I didn't find out till 3 or 4 years later living in Jacksonville Florida who Cream was✌🏼🤠🌵

    Never have seen Clapton but would like to ! My first concert was Poco at ETSU auditorium must’ve been about 74 then Bachman Turner overdrive at freedom Hall, Civic Center in Johnson City Tn .a beach ball. I think it was landed on stage, and Randy Baughman come out really big and red faced and mad and took it everyone booed I was probably 14 at the time I always wanted to go see Bob Seger but never seen him. I missed him and Starz there ,but later on I found out that Bob Seger was with Bachman Turner overdrive there and I seen Bob Seger and didn’t know it , lol ! Lol I just went back and searched a freedom hall rock concert database. It took me the third database to find where it lists Bachman, Turner and Bob Seger in 1975. I thought I was imagining things that I had read that.

    Great video here R.D. Might I be so bold as to recommend the Ginger Baker Mini -Documentary called “ Beware of Mr.Baker” if anyone reading this can still find it on various social media networks ( it was on Netflix for quite some time & that’s where I watched it several times). It really showcased his career, and as you put it so eloquently here “ How he could be a complete Ass-hole” at times , and Yes , I too have heard about Jack calling Ginger and verbally telling him “ I’m dying Ginger , Fuck you” , then hanging up abruptly and refused to answer Ginger’s repeated calls back, from a few other sources as well. As Far as Eric goes it was a tragic day in his life when his young son fell to his death while he was off getting high somewhere that finally prompted him to get the help he needed to try to kick his addictions , and write his famous “ Tears from Heaven “ song about his & his wife’s loss. I’ve always admired Eric , & have also heard he & Stevie Ray decided the Fate of SRV through a coin toss to see who got that fateful helicopter ride in 1990 after that giant Blues show that ended Stevie’s career so abruptly. I have no way to substantiate that story unless Eric himself reads this & wants to chime in here , but Stevie either won or lost that Toss , depending on how you look at things , and I can only imagine how much different things would be if that situation was reversed . Anyway sorry to ramble on here , I blame it on the Robitussin cough syrup I’ve been taking 3 straight days now for this damn cold/ cough shit I’ve Got . Steve Miller here , signing off……. C-ya & Thanks again Buddy.

    Ginger's disparaging remarks about John Bonham were followed by more about Keith Moon - "If it don't swing, it don't mean a thing!"
    In effect he is saying that both Led Zeppelin and The Who would have been improved had he been on drums instead.
    Well as good as Ginger was, that'd be a 'no'...

    In my opinion, GB was over-rated BIG TIME! I hated what he said about John Bonham!
    I guess GB was an acquired taste for certain people? I just never really got what all the
    hoop-la was about? Just not my kind of thing really? Thanks for another spectacular
    video brutha... ✌

      @RiverDocs  4 місяці тому

      Thanks man...appreciate it!! I'm not a drummer but have many drummer friends who rate him as one of the best. I think GB's crummy attitude kind of roughed up people's opinion of his talent. When you trash talk like he did people's opinion of you drops to a low standard.

    SO SAD THEY WOULDNT PLAY A NUMBER OF GREAT SONGS ON ALBUMS LIVE . BASICALLY CLAPTON S GUITAR PLAYING KNOWLEDGE WASN'T REALLY WIDE ENOUGH FOR A ROCK FUSION BAND AND YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW MODES ARPEGGIOS NAIL EVERYTHING PERFECTLY EVERY NIGHT LIVE CLASSIC OR JAZZ ROCK ? HOW EVER JUST PLAY WHAT YOU KNOW EXTREME FEEL USUALLY WORKS ?. RIGHT THERE IS NO UA-cam LESSON TO BECOME A ROCK JAZZ PLAYER IN 1965 LET ALONE JUST BLUES

    Respectfully disagree with the narrator, their performance of "Sunshine Of Your Love", at Royal Albert Hall, lacked the naive exuberance of the original version, that so enthralled me back in '68. The latter rendition reflected the modicum of maturity aquired, the weariness of drug 'use', mutual animosity, and obvious cynicism regarding the reunion.

    • @RiverDocs
      @RiverDocs  4 місяці тому +1

      Not a problem in you disagreeing except, that isn't what I said. You did not comprehend. I was not speaking of the Royal Albert Hall performance. Here is the dialog you are referring to. ""The group Cream was inducted into the rock and roll Hall of Fame in 1993. They hadn't played together in 25 years and kicked into Sunshine of your Love and sounded just like they did back in the day. Amazing chemistry between them."
      When you take a group who had not played together for 25 years and put them together again for a few hours of rehearsal, then put them on stage to do three songs and they pull it off as they did, it deserves mention and credit for the "chemistry" they once had. That is what I was speaking of in the video. It had nothing to do with the Royal Albert Hall performance which came a dozen years later after Jack Bruce had just recovered from his liver transplant.
      Thanks for watching and I do appreciate the comment. It was just taken out of context a little and I felt I needed to speak out about it.
      Cheers!

      @@RiverDocs Thank you for the rebuttal, and the clarification. My deliberate avoidance of parenthood afforded me the freedom and recourses to travel to anywhere my favorite Rock bands and musicians were playing. Yet I've learned as a result of some unpleasant, jealous people's reactions, to only share those gemlike experiences online or with other childless, Rock music lovers. Please consider delving into Gary Moore's musical career and personal history, as its apropos to better understanding his place in Rock music's history. Again, thanks for your👌 rebuttal.
