Backed within the first 5 minutes of this video. Don't you love it when someone makes a game idea you had in your head but makes it better than the one you imagined?
I've been Impressed with the 'Tiny' series lately. I don't have kingdoms or defenders as I mostly play solo yet Galaxies and Western are pretty decent for the solo player. I'm not sure how this pans out solo wise but considering it's a bout questing and getting the most points it may be interesting to see how well it works by beating your high score or have a goal to reach. $24 pledge for what is offered including stretch goals as well as possible component upgrades I think will be worth it. I'll keep this on my wish list for sure.
Hey rhado. Love your stuff. Also at 18:50 I believe Jen is suppose to earn an increase in her max HP due to collecting a goblin token. When I read the rules on page 17 it says it's based on those collected it doesn't seem to restrict that you had to earn via winning combat.
Also from best I can tell it is an immediate effect rather then having to wait until the resolution phase after the night time. So Jen would get the immediate less squishy bonus for her upcoming night fight!
Can you give me a link to the rules? The only version of the rules I can find are the ones in the PnP and those have 11 pages and you mention page 17 so something is off there... In the PnP rules it says the Max health is increase by 1 when you Kill a Goblin... is this considered Killing a goblin? Pag3 of the PnP Rules: " However, as the game goes on, this maximum limit can increase. For each Goblin you kill, your health limit increases by one."
There is not a current link to the official rule book I am reading from that came with my copy. In the rule book it says "keep track of your maximum health and power by marking you thresholds on top of your player card... (health is) 6 + the number of goblin tockens you have collected." The quest card says collect any goblin from that map. I interpret that as gaining the bonus HP because it's a collected goblin tocken.
it seems that way... I'm not doubting you just that the PnP rules that are the only ones available say what I wrote above... the final rules seem to be a bit different and more clear about the intent
sorry it's been a few years since i played the prototype. you might want to ask at boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/201921/tiny-epic-quest/forums/0 you're sure to get an answer there!
I have all the Tiny Epic Games...and find their artwork amazing,... in this I find the map to be awful. Its ugly, way to symetrical (for example compared to the Kingdoms tiles) and stil - despite being almost all the same - totally clutered and a pain to look at. Is this the video perpective, just me or a real thing? Am I the only one not wanting to back this despite loving all the other games?
it actually helps a bit if the landscape cards aren't directly touching, but instead have some blank space between them. i didn't film that way though as i was trying to fit everything on the static cam frame...
Yes. I agree. Migraine inducing. In addition, the meeple thing just brings a brand new level of fiddly. Tiny Epic Galaxies is still my favorite in the series.
I agree, the whole game looks like a mess. Seems like it has a lot of good ideas but Almes has to get away from trying to make everything "Tiny Epic", I mean what the hell is tiny about this game? It takes up an entire table. Just make a full size board game with some extra space so it doesn't seem like such a mess.
Like learning a game from Jeff Goldblum’s little brother
Rahdo, you really are the man! I've learned so much from your playthroughs. Thank you!

3:14 mandatory victory fanfare :) I do this all the time if I win something haha!
Fantastic! Thanks for this!! Insta-Fund!!! (Now, if Scott Almes will just design "Tiny Epic Super-Heroes" my life will be complete!)

What happens if there are 2 quests to complete the same temple, so you keep both quests or choose one and the 2nd remaining?

Yo, just a bit of a tip to keep those cards/tiles from moving. use a playmat, but flip it with rubber up.
When you move by boat, do you have to start on the coastline?
yup
Good video but the game has way too many components and takes up way too much space for how light it is.
Thank you.
interesting review... but very distracting camera motions... anyway, I've backed the game.
if you check my show notes, you'll find links to static cam versions of every video...
Missed that one. Thanks for the tip.
