    Great question. Much more hot / cold transfer creating contensation and it keeps the comp roofing from getting so hot, thus making it last longer.

    My ADU will have vaulted ceilings per plan. Is this concept required by codes? By energy efficiency standards? I forwarded your video to my contractor. You are a SUPERHERO! Big red A on your chest! (A for ADU in case you missed my weird humor) p.S. in Inglewood cA

      The R value is a code requirement, the airspace can be to unless the cavity is full foam, either board or sprayed.

    Great information! I'm curious if you have calculated the price difference between regular attic space vs. vaulted ceiling.

    • @ThatADUGuy
      @ThatADUGuy  Рік тому +1

      Attic style would be a little bit cheaper because trusses are way less labor... but we think the extra volume is worth the work.

      @@ThatADUGuy agree 100% about aesthetics and value of the volume. I'm thinking about adding a vaulted ceiling and loft to a house that I own. The attic offers over 8 ft of headspace.

      @@kdockrey nice! That sounds like it would be a great loft area!

    Did you use the baffles along entire bay or just the beginning of the bay? Basically was there a baffle under each batt to lock in that 1 inch air gap?

      Just at the eves and in a few spots where there was 2x4 backing in the bay.

    @thataduguy I'm guessing this is something we would not want to do in Florida because of the hotter climate right?

      A vent ridge system in common in many climate zones but Im not sure sure if it is used often in FL. Good question.

    y do you need a air space in the roof but not the walls?

    • @ThatADUGuy
      @ThatADUGuy  5 місяців тому

      Heat transfer , mostly from heat rising and sun on roof.
