Keep reading! Re-read 3 or 4 times if necessary. It will grow and develop your comprehension! I did that with my first A.W. Pink read: Eternal Security

Todd, thank you so very much for mentioning NONE OF THESE DISEASES! It is transformative! If only everyone would read it and live it what a different planet we would have!
I was so glad to see these books because I have three of them on my shelf. The Randy Alcorn book was given me about a year and a half ago when I learned my wife was terminally ill with cancer as well as Heart and kidney failure. You asked if we would like to add any to that list that you thought might be useful. I encountered one recently, the title is: “The Book That Made Your World: “How the Bible Created the Soul of Western Civilization.” The author is Vishal Mangalwadi. He was born and raised in India in a Hindu home. He studied philosophy in secular universities and Hindu ashrams, but makes a solid case for the Christian faith. I highly recommend it.
I just purchased some of the books mentioned here since hearing your recommendations. 🤯 I’m currently reading “The Doctrine of Repentance”. I can’t put it down!!
Way to go Todd! I agree with you on The Pilgrim's Progress. It is fantastic. A must read for all. As I read through Spurgeon's sermons I routinely see references to it. Keep up the good work!
No joke - any extra insight a Christian can get on repentance is going to be a plus. Since it's the key used to access God's grace, it's literally our best weapon against temptation.
I added several of these to my Christmas list, thanks for the suggestions. I think a great addition to this list would be The Knowledge of the Holy by Tozer
@@WretchedNetwork I read "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn after watching this video. I will say that it was life changing. I ended up speaking several messages on heaven using the material in Alcorn's book.
I have a several that spring to mind: The Valley of Vision(it’s a book of puritan prayers), Tactics by Greg Koukl, It’s all about Jesus by Randy Alcorn, R.C Sproul’s children’s books The Lightlings, The Poison Cup, The King’s Map, and The Barber Who Wanted To Pray. Also The Knowledge Of The Holy by A.W Tozer. And of course Jesus Unmasked by Todd Friel.
My mistake on one of the book names guys. It’s called The Knight’s Map, not The King’s Map. There’s also another R.C Sproul book called The Priest With Dirty Clothes.
I’m a simple person. Two of my favorite books are short and easy reads but with profound concepts. The first is “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23” by Phillip Keller. He describes how our nature is very like a sheep and how dedicated the Good Shepherd is to His flock. The other is “A Tale of Three Kings” by Gene Edwards. He explains that sometimes the leader put over us by God is not admirable, kind or fair, but he is the one God chose and there is a reason for His choice. It’s a study of three kings, Saul, David and Absalom and how their flaws teach the people what God wants them to know. I read them both over 30 years ago. They very much hold up in today’s climate too.

I'm surprised that no Watchman Nee books made Todd's list. He references many scriptures and brings out truths that we seem to miss in "average" study!
Back when I went to a Christian college, when we entered one class the first thing the professor said to us, "No where in the Bible does it say we are to accept Jesus as savior." We all were thinking, "Ok, let's see you get out of this one, bucko!" Then he introduced us to "The Cost of Discipleship," by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who, by the way, was excecuted in a Nazi prison camp. That convinced me. By the way, Bonhoeffer calls it "Costly Grace." MacArthur's "The Gospel According to Jesus" sealed it for me. A very inspirational book. We do not accept Jesus as Savior, but as LORD. Todd mentions misperceptions people have of heaven. Some say they do not want to go to heaven and spend eternity playing a harp. Even if that was all we would do in heaven, it is better than being in the "other" place. Some people joke they want to go to hell because that's where their friends will be, and they can party for eternity. Remember, the Bible says hell is a place of darkness, so you will never see your friends. It is a place of eternal loneliness. Anold saying: "When you die you either go to the Choir Place of the Fire Place.
Thank you very much for this video! I got excited for the list when I saw books that I know are great lower on the list than I expected. Some of these are definitely on my reading list.
1) Hell's Best Kept Secret by Ray Comfort 2) God Speaks - Finding Hope in the Midst of Hopelessness by Ray Comfort 3) Will God Heal Me by Ron Dunn 4) When People are Big and God is Small by Ed Welch 5) Triumphing Over Sinful Fear by John Flavell 6) The Mystery of Providence by John Flavell 7) Depression: Looking Up from the Stubborn Darkness by Ed Welch 8) The Great Sex Rescue: The Lies You've Been Taught and How to Recover What God Intended by Sheila Wray Gregoire (which outlines what the best-selling Christian books on sex have been teaching Christian women about having sex with their husbands, such as you have to have sex with him every 72 hours regardless of how you are feeling. It's quite daming) 9) Charismatic Chaos by John MacArthur
Reading Heaven by Randy Alcorn. I am just starting and am deeply humbled by his sincere and humble plead to the reader to test this book to the truth of Scripture. Thank God for this video you made Todd recommending these books. I still yet to hear you name the rest.
The Attributes of God by AW Pink and The Knowledge of the Holy by AW Tozer have been a tremendous blessing in my life. I highly recommend both. The first one is to go deeper into God's heart and the second one is more like a devotional, but I am really thankful for what God did and continue doing thru these 2 men.
Not following through with piano lessons when younger... Regret. Not seeing Elvis... Yeah, not so much. Edit: R.C. Sproul, Chosen by God. Excellent read.
One book I just finished reading that I really love is "Is God Really in Control" by Jerry Bridges. It's a great book on how we can trust in the sovereignty of our Lord
I like this list. Trueman's title is actually a condensed version of his "The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self", which version has changed the way I view culture more than any book I have ever read. Thanks, Todd. I'll get at it with these!
Todd, best book on eschatology I’ve ever read…”Because the Time is Near” John MacArthur. Your list is great and I seriously will try to read them in 2023! Thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ!
Thank you for the list in the description, oh Wretched one! I LOVE #12 Safely Home by Randy Alcorn I LOVE #9 The Gospel According to Jesus by John MacArthur I LOVE #6 The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul I LOVE #5 Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan These are books I have read a minimum of 5 times and so far, a maximum of about 40 times, EACH. I would not part with these books for anything except I were somehow forced to only own one book. That, of course, would be hands down The Holy Bible. But beyond that basic and necessary text, I find all of these books faith builders, insightful, and constantly amazing and lovely to read. Highly recommend!
I've read 13, 8, and 5. My goal for this year was to finish 13, and I've finished 25 so far, with 2 weeks left. Now I've got the start of my TBR list for 2023.
I cut my teeth on Francis A. Shaeffer in the 1970's and '80s, but somehow missed this title until earlier this year. Death in the City is a masterful and inspiring work on declaring the gospel.
The Pilgrim's Progress, The Pursuit of God, A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23, The Lion, The, Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Magician's Nephew, The Cosmic Drama, and so many others have helped me along the way. The Pilgrim's Progress has to be number one though. Many times I've literally carried it with me into the pulpit to read the testimony of Hopeful because when he shares his conversion in that book to know that it was really John Bunyan sharing his own and saying how he saw "the beauty of Jesus Christ" and if he had 1,000 gallons of blood in his body in that moment he would've "spilled it all for the sake of the Lord Jesus". If that doesn't stir your heart I don't know what will. What a genuine testimony!
Spent a lot of time with number 13 a couple of years back. His percpective there, on how the church of generations past, longed to be with God, is compelling.
1. The Bible (full read over 8 times) never stop reading it 2. Pilgrims Progress, I used to read it each year but found a good cartoon movie on youtube 3. Valley of Vision Pilgrim Prayers - Can't stress enough of this resource if you want to increase your prayer life. 4. Martin Luther's little book on prayer - also will increase your prayer life 5. Ray Comfort HBKS and TandF Conversions (sermons how I got soundly saved). 6. Thomas Watson - The Doctrine of Repentance 7. Everything written by Charles Spurgeon, Martin Luther, RC Sproul, John MacArthur
"The Law is your Friend" THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I've always said that the LAW about LOVE. Every parent has house rules, with blessing and punishment. Imagine the chaos in a household without rules. And YHWH does not tolerate disorder, thus the LAW Is HIM setting boundaries for us to be safe in.
At this moment I'm reading "Battle for the American Mind by Pete Hegseth. One of the first books that had an impact on me when I first became a Christian was "Mere Christianity by CS Lewis.

I have, and read, None of These Diseases. Excellent book. The one book that gave me a different perspective on my walk with God was In His Steps my Charles M Sheldon.
I would like to humbly submit The Crook in the Lot by Thomas Boston. This book will help the believer understand and take comfort in our suffering as Christians
Great list. I'd add Desire of Ages, Great controversy, Where is God when it hurts and Reaching for the invisible God and When God Writes your love story.
Holiness by JC Ryle The original, all 22(?) Chapters. Better yet, the one with the praying hands on the cover. I read this every other year about. Mr Ryle covers so much from so many angles that always leads back to the topic at hand. There is no way of not being convicted and humbled .
Thank you for the list! Providence by John Piper is an amazing read if you are looking to understand God's Providence as a Father, as well as understanding more of the unification of the entire Bible.
The Attributes of God (or the original published work on the attributes of God) “Gleanings From The Godhead” or “Practical Christianity” both by Arthur W. Pink, “The Almost Christian” by the puritan Matthew Mead, and “Against Satan’s Devices” by puritan Thomas Brooks. Love the Puritans!
Today’s Gospel by Walter Chantry. Hard to Believe by John MacArthur. Famine in the Land by Steve Lawson Ten Indictments Against the Modern Church by Paul Washer.

Prayer and the Knowledge of God - Graeme Goldsworthy!
The Spiritual Man - Watchman Lee
There are a couple on your list that I will need to read...thanks
I'm surprised that no Watchman Nee books made Todd's list. He references many scriptures and brings out truths that we seem to miss in "average" study!
Great list. Thank you! I will be reading some of those this year.
That last lines should say, "AN OLD saying....." Oops!
Thank you very much for this video! I got excited for the list when I saw books that I know are great lower on the list than I expected. Some of these are definitely on my reading list.
1) Hell's Best Kept Secret by Ray Comfort
2) God Speaks - Finding Hope in the Midst of Hopelessness by Ray Comfort
3) Will God Heal Me by Ron Dunn
4) When People are Big and God is Small by Ed Welch
5) Triumphing Over Sinful Fear by John Flavell
6) The Mystery of Providence by John Flavell
7) Depression: Looking Up from the Stubborn Darkness by Ed Welch
8) The Great Sex Rescue: The Lies You've Been Taught and How to Recover What God Intended by Sheila Wray Gregoire (which outlines what the best-selling Christian books on sex have been teaching Christian women about having sex with their husbands, such as you have to have sex with him every 72 hours regardless of how you are feeling. It's quite daming)
9) Charismatic Chaos by John MacArthur
Thanks for adding to my 2023 reading list! 🤍
Thanks for watching!

Reading Heaven by Randy Alcorn. I am just starting and am deeply humbled by his sincere and humble plead to the reader to test this book to the truth of Scripture. Thank God for this video you made Todd recommending these books. I still yet to hear you name the rest.
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis is a good one for those who are new to Christianity or don't know what is it about.
All of Grace - Spurgeon, Attributes of God - A.W. Pink, Plan of Salvation - Warfield
Pilgrim's Progress is one of my favorite books. We got one for my niece and used it during bible study for her schooling. She loved it!
“The God Who Is There” Francis A. Schaffer, “The Universe Next Door” James Sire, and “More Than A Carpenter” Josh McDowell
The Universe Next Door is a great one!
- Ethan from Wretched
Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God. JI Packer
I would recommend to you KINGDOM COME by Sam Storms and HE SHALL HAVE DOMINION by Keneth Gentry.
Thank you for the list in the description, oh Wretched one!
I LOVE #12 Safely Home by Randy Alcorn
I LOVE #9 The Gospel According to Jesus by John MacArthur
I LOVE #6 The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul
I LOVE #5 Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
These are books I have read a minimum of 5 times and so far, a maximum of about 40 times, EACH.
1. The Bible (full read over 8 times) never stop reading it
2. Pilgrims Progress, I used to read it each year but found a good cartoon movie on youtube
3. Valley of Vision Pilgrim Prayers - Can't stress enough of this resource if you want to increase your prayer life.
4. Martin Luther's little book on prayer - also will increase your prayer life
5. Ray Comfort HBKS and TandF Conversions (sermons how I got soundly saved).
6. Thomas Watson - The Doctrine of Repentance
7. Everything written by Charles Spurgeon, Martin Luther, RC Sproul, John MacArthur
The animated Pilgrims Progress that depicts the Holy Spirit as a woman/goddess?
"The Law is your Friend" THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
I've always said that the LAW about LOVE. Every parent has house rules, with blessing and punishment.
Imagine the chaos in a household without rules. And YHWH does not tolerate disorder, thus the LAW Is HIM setting boundaries for us to be safe in.
I would strum a harp but the other stuff is nice icing on the cake. Can't wait.
1) Decision Making and the Will of God: A Biblical Alternative to the Traditional View - Gary Friesen
2) God Doesn’t Whisper - Jim Osman
At this moment I'm reading "Battle for the American Mind by Pete Hegseth.
One of the first books that had an impact on me when I first became a Christian was "Mere Christianity by CS Lewis.
Enjoying Mere Christianity myself- very good read!
Pete Hegseth's book IS very good!
Had Mere Christianity on CD. What a great way to understand Lewis with the ability to skip back and listen again. 👍
Your editor is my favorite, Todd.

Discipling by Mark Dever is a simple read and yet very practical about how we should go about Discipling other believers
Great list. Some I have already read, and now add more to I must read list. I am currently reading; I don't have enough Faith to be an Atheist. Good Book.
Frank Turek. He has major issues with atheists.
@@pinguy2334 so do I.
Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis
Oh shoot! I was hoping for a list here or the transcript so I could snap a pic. I'll just watch again🤗
There is. It's up close to the top.
I think this content has helped me to see the difference between a sheep and a goat
Good thing to figure out this side of eternity.

I was actually reading Safely Home Today!
Holiness by JC Ryle
The original, all 22(?) Chapters. Better yet, the one with the praying hands on the cover.
I read this every other year about. Mr Ryle covers so much from so many angles that always leads back to the topic at hand. There is no way of not being convicted and humbled .
Yup👍
Prison to praise and Praise works, by Merlin Carothers. Absolutely life changing!
Oh wonderful! Thank you!
Thank you for the list!
Providence by John Piper is an amazing read if you are looking to understand God's Providence as a Father, as well as understanding more of the unification of the entire Bible.
Definite Atonement by Gary D. Long
Revelation 20 and the Millennial Debate by Matthew Waymeyer
The Attributes of God (or the original published work on the attributes of God) “Gleanings From The Godhead” or “Practical Christianity” both by Arthur W. Pink, “The Almost Christian” by the puritan Matthew Mead, and “Against Satan’s Devices” by puritan Thomas Brooks. Love the Puritans!
