I think one of the primary reasons we see such richness in the writings of these men & women who lived hundreds of years ago is that they had fewer distractions than we have today. They were able to focus in ways that many today find difficult. Reading these classics is like reading pure gold with little dross & few wasted words

    This is so inspiring.
It is amazing to find out where Paul Washer sits to get rooted in God's Word even if it is a fraction of all books written on scriptural/theological truths.
Yet in his preachings, he is not complicated with difficult phrases and terminologies. Anyone who listens to him can capture truths.

What Paul Washer said about the two kinds of men who read rings true. The wide reader who does not consider the Word of God can swell up with his pride thinking that he knows it all but actually is just a parrot who is merely repeating what he has read - but the truths he claim from them are feeble On the other end is one who if he had read nothing else other than the Bible, can stand firmly and confident of what he knows yet remain broken and humble before a holy God.

The law presents to us guilt, the cross represents Gods justice and love, which when believed produces gratitude. The more you look at/aim to Christ the more you conform to that image. The only ignorance I’ve heard so far is your comments which are not edifying in the least.

Most people in the comments condemning Washer for the majesty of his library and theological knowledge of the early protestant reformers never watched the full video to understand the context. You engage in your passions of impatience to realize that he stressed on the importance of spiritual revelation of primarily and mainly scripture. He emphasized that its better to memorize scripture than to understand that knowledge.

Yes, he did say that. Thank you so much for making that point. This is why some youtube accounts turn off their comments section from such people.

So great to see Pastor Paul looking so well! We need his faithful shepherding for this generation!! 🙏🏼 I'm an ex muslim who was blessed to have "discovered" Paul Washer after a very early, disillusioning stint with Joel Osteen! 😂 I knew there had to be more and there's much more meat on these bones! Thank you and may God bless you, Paul Washer, for feeding me (and innumerable others) the Word with truth, care, wisdom, joy, love and discernment! 👍🏼💖🙏🏼😇 May the Lord bless and protect you and your family always! 🌺

I wish that years ago, someone had said to me that part about books being less important than The Book. I was a teenager set ablaze with a passion for apologetics and a tremendous amount of pride because of it. I didn’t think I had need for the Bible because I thought I already knew what all it had to say. I wanted to read commentaries and apologetics. It was the simple, hard-hitting gospel of Christ that made me finally realize my own insignificance and hubris. Now, I’m in my early 20’s and I’m constantly realizing how little of the Bible I’ve actually read and even less that I understand. The mind of God is enough to make an academic into a complete moron. You’ve been pivotal in my sanctification, Paul Washer. I thank God for teachers like you.

"To study the Bible, there is a sense in which is it is academic but it's only academic to some degree. It's far more than academic. It's spiritual and I want to read men who delighted in the person of Christ and wo looked at a text looking for Christ.."

Great library- but even more than those beautiful books, I love what you said about reading the book and our weapons of our warfare- the Word , intercessory prayer and a holy life. So encouraging as it seems if we mention the goal of holiness we are accused of being prideful when it is actually quite the opposite. Also grateful for what you said about Mueller and how he didn't manipulate people but relied on The Father to provide what was needed and was blessed. May Our Father continue to bless the work of your hands and the pure desires of your heart.

Wow, great collection of books ... as J. C. Ryle said, "knowledge of the bible never comes by intuition ..." Above all, as Washer said here to read the bible over and over again.
Americans are privileged to have some of the greatest books (especially from the Puritans and other Reformers) within their country as these books are not locally published in many other parts of the world, especially in Asian continent.
