Bill Wiggins is based of a character from the books called "Wiggins" - leader of a group of street children known as the "Baker Street Irregulars" who helped out Sherlock.
If you haven't seen it yet, I think you might dig "The Night Manager" (2016). It stars Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Coleman & Elizabeth Debicki. It was a 6 part BBC series.
Arguably the best episode of Sherlock. The dedication to each character is goes above and beyond, all the way around. The love between Sherlock, Mary, and Watson is eternal.
This is based on the short story, "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton" wherein Holmes, in the guise of a plumber named Escott (partial reason for William S. Baring-Gould's adoption of the "William Sherlock Scott Holmes" name theory), gets engaged to Milverton's housemaid, Agatha to gain access to his blackmail materials. The title is a play on a different story, "His Last Bow," which gets a nod somewhere along the line ("an east wind coming" is from this). In "The Man with the Twisted Lip," Watson had to go to an opium den to retrieve a friend's addicted husband.
You can really see how great Mary and John's relationship is, how well it was set up in the first two episodes of this season, and how the possibility of it falling apart in this episode is so emotional and gripping. I forget how good this show is until I see it being reacted to and then I'm like "dang, it's just so clever!"
Rekkai saying John fell in love and wanted to propose to Mary when he was in mourning, is very telling on how this relationship started. Steven Moffat likes the idea of 'killing a dragon for you' so he uses it here between the Christmas talk Sherlock and Mycroft, that Sherlock has his dragon now (Magnusson) but in the very first episode of his very first ever show written, he's already dropping the line "I 'ld kill a dragon for you" between the two main protagonists and in a later season he even named an episode 'At last a dragon' cause Moffat is such a romantic at heart. His favorite book AND film after all is 'The Princess Bride'. Also, in the 'Sign of Three' when Sherlock is reading the telegrams during the wedding, one was from 'CAM' and Mary's face is telling, but we didn't know what it meant ... untill now. Magnusson was after Mary from the start, playing with her, John was her pressure point, and then, when Sherlock came back from the not-dead, it was a feast for Magnusson.
Omg DO NOT SKIP “the Abominable Bride”! It’s a full-length Christmas episode that acts as a bridge between 3 and 4 - and it’s sooo fun and dark. Plus, you get to see Sherlock back in Victorian times 😉
It's already been mentioned but just to reiterate for clarity's sake, y'all gotta watch "The Abominable Bride" next before starting season 4. LOVING these reactions btw!
Watson really had to ask who he is after Mary responded, "it's what you like" and Sherlock agreed. In the first episode Watson pretty much responded 'O, God Yes' when Sherlock asked him to go into danger and Mycroft said his "handicap" was because he missed the war. In a way Watson is the yin or yang to both Mary and Sherlock. Even sociopaths need a port in the storm.
Wiggins is a kid in the books -- the leader of the Baker Street irregulars (lower-case I), the group of "street arabs" (read: poor and possibly homeless children) who were Holmes' eyes and ears because they went unnoticed and could easily eavesdrop. This was updated to the "homeless network" because having children help in investigations isn't looked on as so innocuous these days).
"The Mikkelsens are like the Danish Baldwins". Lmao 😂 Not entirely wrong but the thought made me laugh. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Mads once and I've rarely met someone that down to earth. From what I've heard the same can't be said about the Baldwins but on a professional level you're kinda right. 😂👍 (POV: I'm Danish 😉) Love your Sherlock reactions. 💜
I’m pretty sure that Magnusson is meant to be a Rupert Murdoch type character. Someone who only cares about how to increase their coffers, has little to no regard for the truth, along with a lack of respect for people and will purposefully try and have some control over the leaders of the countries that he has interests in. I know that has certainly been the case in his native Australia, here in the UK and I believe he even had to gain US citizenship to guarantee that he could continue in that vein in the US.
I have neurodegenerative cognitive issues, so my memory is a bit swiss cheesey, but am I wrong in thinking that when Mycroft first presented the mission in Eastern Europe that Sherlock was later forced to take - it was implied to be a likely suicide mission that very likely wouldn't let him survive more than the 6 months? Perhaps implying with a double meaning that the East (wind) will take him in the end... Shading his words to John to imply that he'll be back home in 6 months, but I don't think John has any idea that it could have been his coffin coming home in 6 months, or John would probably be fighting to go with him. Mary or no With regards to the enemy of the week thought, In the build up to Moriarty's intro there were a couple of small enemies that Moriarty had been pulling the strings on, so the issue might be the same... Or maybe Maggeson and Moriarty have been middle management bad guys for an even bigger bad? I missed the 4th season, and for one reason or other never tried to go back and catch up, so it's just a guess.
Spoiler free: just before you watch series 4 episode 2 “The Lying Detective”, you should do some research on a man called “Jimmy Saville”. The whole episode is basically a nod to this massive scandal that went under the BBC’s nose for decades. It is hard to believe how long and far reaching this actually was.
The next episode is the Christmas special "The Abominable Bride" which connects series 3 and 4, so don't miss it out
Yes!! Don’t skip it, fellas @syntell and @nupefromdaville
Fun fact- The pair playing Sherlock’s parents- are indeed Ben Cumberbatch’s actual parents!
🫠🫠🫠...... We know. That's literally all they talked about TWO VIDEOS AGO
Bill Wiggins is based of a character from the books called "Wiggins" - leader of a group of street children known as the "Baker Street Irregulars" who helped out Sherlock.
Lars Mikkelsen does creepy so well.
As does his brother Mads
Now picture him with blue skin and red eyes

Would second this great series.
Arguably the best episode of Sherlock. The dedication to each character is goes above and beyond, all the way around. The love between Sherlock, Mary, and Watson is eternal.
Martin Freeman goes crazy this whole series, but in this episode he is exceptionally fantastic.
I love the mycroft stuff he's such an interesting character and him just seeing his little brother breaks my heart 😢
microft ... or microsoft ... ?

"The Abominable Bride" is a must watch before the 4th Season.

I really loved how they introduced mary and how they have written her
Rekkai saying John fell in love and wanted to propose to Mary when he was in mourning, is very telling on how this relationship started.

CAM = Charles Auguste Magnusson
Charles Augustus Magnusson, I'll have to watch again to see her face. I never noticed that
The biggest villain here was the fly that bothered Rekkai all the time. 🤣
this episode has some great one liners forgot how funny Sherlock is
Great spot on captain adelaide Brooks. She's a great actress.
Benedict Cumberbatch won his first Emmy for this episode.
The “mind palace” is the same as Sherlock’s. They both have a photographic memory.
Make SURE you watch the Christmas special 'The Abominable Bride' before you get on to S4 - it's essential!
Omg DO NOT SKIP “the Abominable Bride”! It’s a full-length Christmas episode that acts as a bridge between 3 and 4 - and it’s sooo fun and dark. Plus, you get to see Sherlock back in Victorian times 😉
I just want to say I am really enjoying watching Sherlock with you guys ❤

Great reaction again... But sorry fellas, shirl didn't clap any cheeks, absolutely no smashing! 😂 😂
This is my favorite episode. I'm working on designing a "That's where they sit!" tattoo. I adore that scene and dialog so much!!
Love your reactions! Will we see an Abominable Bride reaction?

"The East Wind is coming"
He drooled on him? That’s nasty. Fly instantly lands on face 😂 couldn’t have planned it.
Water on Mars is so old school creeps!!!❤

Before I even watch I know Rekkai gonna have something to say about that engagement wooph did her demonically!
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this!

Lars Mikkelsen played Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels and Ashoka
I hope you watch the special episode before season 4!
Just to confirm, they don't own him for 6 mo this, that's how long he had to live

It's not a season, it's a series
😅 Raise your hand if you tried to create a MIND PALACE for yourself after seeing this episode for the first time✋🏾
thanks for referencing my favorite Bond movie
Yes, a beautifully written and acted episode. Not bad at all, Guvnor.
Free Rekkai from the fly!
Syntell, don't call Bullshit, call Malarkey or Shenanigans!
I like Janine, though; she's a lot of fun (last episode too).
Johnlock Shipper? The writers were making it obvious. 😭

🙏🏻 come on guy’s I’m bagging, Please do a reaction to Pete & Bass The Gentleman. It’s right up your alley. 🏴🇬🇧🙏🏻🤷🏻♂️

It gets darker still, wait. Xc
Sherlock little brother ahh
Thrawn vs Dr. strange
The East Wind comes to play in the next season. It’s a person rather than a metaphor.
