To this day, decades later, I still remember the opening to the original Homeworld. The way the narrator said, "HIgara" with so much meaning. I will never forget the moment when the ship first encounters the raiders- the scene of these alien ships darting towards the fleet while that AMAZING music plays in the background. Homeworld is a masterpiece of storytelling and gameplay.
The original Homeworld was and still is one of my favourite games of all time, C&C in 3 dimensions with stunning backdrops and great ships with an easy to learn interface. Have both the original and remastered versions of 1 and 2, simply brilliant gameplay and story telling.
Why can't I win a single battle in hw2 with hard counters to ships? Literally all i remember is the vagyr beating any ship combination I threw at it with the worst counters in the game and less ships AND they ALWAYS WIN. I was throwing like 100 to 200 torp and flack frigates against like 50 or 60 fighters and losing because HW2 is broke fucking garbage and even the fixes that stop the AI from cheating barely make it playable.
@@MATTIUS Yeah IDK what happned to hw2 but the first 2 were amazing. hw2 i still havn't finished the last mission as my 390 battle crusiers can't beat 10 destroyers and 40 fighters.
Just nitpicking here, but Karen S'jet was the last one to leave the ship after HW1, she wasn't stuck being "unbound" as the Bentusi were. Also, the terms of "bound" meant that one wasn't integrated with the ship, while "unbound" meant you were integrated with the ship, as the Bentusi were.

Minor editting note: "They hardwired her body into this mothership and she would not know what it was to be unbound for the rest of her life." I'm not sure if you mean "unbound" in terms of being hard-wired or (more signifcantly) in terms of how the Bentusi use the term "unbound." It was my impression you had meant the latter. What's a shame is there was already a decent CoD in space and it was better. Sure CoD fans hated it, I thought it was fun and loved the new mechanic of being in a vacuum with open world mission planning, but it was already done. Elites bolt on is... Ok. It's not 100% trash, but it's not what everyone was expecting nor was it what was promised.
Neat. I love lore videos lol. I know you mentioned you'd be doing this to fill the gap left by Fdev sleeping on good ideas and I like it. Another thing I'd love to see you cover lore on: The Outer Worlds. It's a pretty nuts game. Sure the planets are small relative to other games, but the lore is there and takes so long to ingest in a go so a video series on it would be amazing. I mean sure Oxhorn kinda did it, but your style would be nice, and dare I say, better.
10:50 I actually think Homeworld community liked Cataclysm more than HW2, it was improvement of original in every single conceivable way, Sadly, not many people nowadays played it due to legal problems and lost code preventing it from being part of Remaster, and poor marketing wasn't doing it any favors in it's day. Very worthwhile to play as it was rebranded to Emergence on GOG.
Since I first played the game I've wondered if we could do something like this, if we had to. As in world destroying, extinction level event is imminent. People work miracles under those kinds of pressures. I bet the physics community would quit bickering and figure some things out real quick and that would hopefully include a way to transport a lot of people to another habitable planet
Second one here I guess. This Homeworld sounds interesting, I think I might look into it further. The gameplay shown reminds me a lityle bit of Space Engineers, which is what keep coming up everytime I look up Space Engine. 😂 There's something I've been wondering about Elite. Do you think The Club have arranged for The Pilot's Federation to add the Elite I - V in order to seperate the regular elite pilots from the best of the best so The Club can monitor them easier? 🤔
There is a rumour that the Pilots federation is a club asset, if so, it wouldn't surprise me. Homeworld is an RTS game, amazing story and the ship design reminds me of early 80s sci-fi artwork.
@@MATTIUS Yeah that would be the least surprising thing I've heard all week. 🤣 If that's true, then they're almost certainly watching me because I'm already double elite. Humanity never originated on Earth either. Earth isn't our cradle. Our cradle rests blasted to pieces somewhere in the constellation Lyra. Hundreds of thousands of years ago there was a war raging across multiple regions of space, with numerous factions involved. Humanity was one of them, or at least our ancestors.
