I don't know how i feel about disc still, been a disc since BC...i do fine in mythics but i REALLY wish disc had a better system for group healing..... I love this idea of damage equals healing...but gimme a break...Disc are way too dependent on damage. If blizz did like one little tweak i would absolutely LOVE disc. Disc in raids are fucking amazing to have in your arsenal, iam rarely outdone in healing....but in 5man mythics it can be a scary ass situation.... I just really hope they give disc some good updates in the future.....like atonement lasing 20sec, or bring back devouring plague so we have 2 dots on the target....i dunno just something!
I'm actually trying to use Shadowmend less than I used to. I used to have Power Infusion Macro'd into Shadowmend so when tank and DPS took heavy damage I could go nuts on Shadowmend and use less mana -- But now, with the recent changes - I've speced into Purge of the Wicked, Contrition, and Shield Discipline. I may as well tell you right now -- Purge of the Wicked is god-mode for Disc. Try it out and let me know what you think... :) In Mythics you may still want to spec into Grace and you will use Shadowmend more - but I think we are moving away from that with how powerful Purge of the Wicked is.
If you're playing heavily towards spamming shadow mend (which in itself is a sub-optimal way of playing), why would you take haste gear at all? You are aware the only reason why you're taking it is to have more healing inside atonement windows. If you're basing your playstyle around 5-6 atonements and shadow mend spam, the only thing haste is doing is increasing your mana consumption. Crit+ vers would be far superior in terms of healing. This is the same reason why holy priests don't take haste, because it doesn't do much of anything for their "shadow mend" like playstyle.
Suplift i woild would never tell someone to play spamming shadow mend but instead encourage someone to actually use it. Alot of disc i see dont touch it when its such a powerful move. More or less its a great way to heal and get atonement on a target over plea. If you got "Spam Shadowmend only" from this i may have to change it. sorry about that. First class guide :/
Why though? This would be like 'encouraging" restoration druids to not cast rejuvs. Like yea, it's fine to use spells like shadow mend situationally, but when shadow mend dominates the rotation, you're playing sub-optimally.
Suplift sorry iv been meaning to add nots and a rotation guide in the discription but my pc blew up the day of uploading. Im just saying to use shadowmend as another way to instantly heal that target at say 60% hp and giving them atonement over a plea then smite. I probs mention it a bit too much but what i mean is SM is great for raid spot healing or 5 man content. Never would you just spam SM. I just find it great to use over plea on most cases. You defs want to be spamming smite and penance off cd (crit + haste) im sorry if you found this unhelpful. Like i said notes and a guide in the discription are coming. Just unlucky timing :(

Decent guide, but in terms of tl:dr, whats the fastest way of spreading atonement? And secondly, i just collected all 12 "The Annals of Light and Shadow", but it feels like Archivist Inkforge is bugged, he wont continue.
Just a tip for Macros for anyone wanting the same macro in the vid but with the functionality to use your self cast modifier use the following macro. #showtooltip Power Word: Shield /cast [mod:alt,@player] [@mouseover,help,nodead] [help] [@targettarget,help] [] Power Word: Shield
Heh, what you said in the beginning "how are other people playing the disc". i have been thinking the same. I have yet to see anyone outheal me even in raids. yet no one wants a disc priest in a mythic group.
Félix Queiruga Balado for sure, think of it like your going to be having at least 2-5 people with atonement at at time in 5man dungeons. Thats a 2-5% increase on your heals and damage just about. I would recommend :)
IVIanSour the macro allows you to not have to click on a party member to heal them. So you can stay targeted on the boss and just put your curser over a player to cast on them rather than clicking them, casting then clickingnor trying to tab back to the target enemy to dps
Vesira So for a quick run down you heal through dps. when you use some of the priests moves like power word shield, Plea or shadowmend it leaves a buff on the target called atonement. So when ever you do damage with anything like smite or penance for example it will heal the players who have the atonement buff on them. Only thing is atonement only lasts for a short amount of time ( i thnk 10-15seconds ) before it needs to be re applyed
You just use your disc moves to dps. You are still classed as a healer so whatever dps you add to the group is pretty much bonus ontop of your already 3 dps classes and tank in a mythic+. You wont be pulling as much dps as an actual dps class but more around how much the tank usualy does damage wise. It is actually pretty neat
Little bit of misinformation. Theorycrafting raid parses is showing mastery above crit. In raid you should really never be using SM. And the reason no one wants disc in higher mythics (nines and tens) is because it's not viable. The damage coming in on unavoidable mechanics is such that you're no longer able to use Atonement, meaning you have to SM, which given our lack of direct AoE heals in turn means we don't have time to damage which is the whole advantage of a disc priest in a timed instance. SM is a solid emergency heal but the scarcity of constant ticking AoE damage in five man content means the debuff isn't removed. Makes it pretty crappy. That also means the rationale for crit above mastery is moot.
Also makes Grace super sub-optimal in raids. Without coordination we're rarely going to top meters in mythic raids but on fights like Ursoc and Elerethe with burst damage or towards the end of Xavius when there are so many sources of damage our burst healing is sick. It's important though to always do healing in bursts even when the damage is consistent. Keep up 2-4 Atonements when you're not bursting and stagger CDs so you always have one up for the burst phase: Plea/PW:S up to 6 Atonements, PW:R up to 15-20 then start that sick deeps. Then chill and try to make some of the 30%+ mana you just dropped.
You are correct about Mastery being better than Crit in raids and I agree that there is alot of wrong information in this video. Spreading Atonement with SM is a bad way to do it and the statement that PW:R into burst healing wouldn't really be a thing is ridiculous. PW:B isn't our main healing CD, but LW is. That's why you absolutely have to make use of it or you're...well - a healer without a raid cooldown. That aside though it's also wrong that Disc isn't viable for high M+. I don't even know how you would come to the conclusion. Most of the first +15's had Rdruids or Discs, because to be honest they are super good at handling cutting edge content. High singletarget throughput with ToF + SM, pre-shielding with Rapture (maybe even CoW) and wonderful ways to counter groupwide damage with Penance/LW/BftD/Mindbender. PW:B and Painsup also both provide direct DR which is extremly strong for doing nearly impossible content. Strong to a point where I could join with my new disc alt for +12's when I just got my 3rd relic slot. We did it in time even. Sure that also requires a highly experience group, but it's nevertheless a good measure of just how strong Disc is. Also while I see your concern with the SM debuff often not being removed, it's honestly just not an issue. you either have such high single target damage that you have to use it and it does get removed instantly anyways, or you use it as convenient spotheal and the debuff is passively countered by all the SW:Ps you should have ticking and Penance/Smite spam. Literally the only boss I struggled with so far is EoA endboss on tyrannical, because I had some issues applying atonement while being dragged around all the time. But even that is something that practice can fix. I am still quite new to this spec after all.
Yeah I should have qualified it and mentioned that it's average groups the spec struggles with. Those that aren't stunning/interrupting and are taking unnecessary damage. It's not a good reactive healer which makes it more group dependent but you take that knock in exchange for being the best proactive healer in the game. I also just started using ToF in higher pluses (I know, ridiculous) and it makes a world of difference.
I stand by my point regarding the SM rebuff, though perhaps it's based on my experiences with PuGs. First time I worked up the nerve to try a 10 as disc with a guild group it actually went great, and certain affixes make disc even more valuable. Depending on the pack, I actually rely on the SW:P to heal and not just counteract SM, but this is again an issue that can usually be resolved by having a group that actually stuns, or at the very least LOSs.
Sorry mate, My pc actually crashed on me just after uploading this so i havent got around to the description and stuff. Pretty much the macro you want to use is this for example on Plea it would be... #showtooltip Plea /cast [target=mouseover, help, nodead][]Plea After making that just replace your normal plea with the macro and happy days. I also recommend doing this for other moves like Power Word: Shield & Shadow Mend. Just replace the name plea in the example above with the move you are doing it for :)
For the first 1:30 you talk about how you're great, and no one else understands how to play the class... not a good idea to get people's attention. You could edit out the first 90 seconds and it would be a better video
Some of the talents you showed changed after you recorded. Mindbender generates 0.5% mana now, not 0.75%. Also Contrition adds 3 seconds to atonement now
mreyes89 Its true this was recorded like a day before 7.1 but the only changes to the spec were Power Word: Solace now returns 1% of your mana per tick (was 0.75%). Clarity of Will’s cast time is now 2.0 seconds (was 2.5 seconds). Contrition now increases Atonement by 3 seconds (was 2 seconds). and non of them changed how i went about playing. Since it was a video released for 7.1 i stand buy that. Infact im pretty sure i mentioned that in the video but i could be wrong ;)
I didnt hear it pointed out. I was just stating this video wasn't 7.1 so people know, in case you happen to change some of the talents you chose after 7.1 was released
mreyes89 thanks for that man i thought i did but may i add nice eye for detail man :) Iknew well and truly of the changes coming so thats why i made it for 7.1. I know i added in the end that i would update if anything changes but so far nothing has. Thanks for looking out for others man but have faith in me. I got this :)
Nice video. It's always nice to see how other disc priests play the game. Can always learn something new.
Thank you for this. Great video
Great video, you deserve more subscribers :)
Great quality.
iBastion Thanks you, Im only new to this so in time i hope :)
In Hearts Wake is my favorite band. Good on you for the guild name man that's cool!
Kyle Dane haha thanks :)

trippin916 I can agree with parts of this, i feel like sometimes it would be nice to have that " Oh Crap " moment aoe heal cd like most other healers

I've been running a Crit/Mastery/Haste build and been doin' very well, wonderful build for arenas if you ever dip you feet in :D
saikitten97 it really is a great spec. Nice few ways to go about it :)
If you're playing heavily towards spamming shadow mend (which in itself is a sub-optimal way of playing), why would you take haste gear at all? Thanks for the great video.. would love to see you run a dungeon as disc priest
IVIanSour once my pc is fixed ill definitely do that ;)
Nice Thank you A words Smith you are !
Ben Never not sure if sarcasm or not, Words are not my strong suit :P but thanks :)
no sarcasm I just enjoyed the video
Thanks friend

Johan Eriksson it makes you wonder haha
Hey! thanks for the macro tip!
Do you think Sins of the Many is worth getting for someone who mainly does 5-man content, and only raids through LFR?
Félix Queiruga Balado for sure, think of it like your going to be having at least 2-5 people with atonement at at time in 5man dungeons. Thats a 2-5% increase on your heals and damage just about. I would recommend :)

IVIanSour the macro allows you to not have to click on a party member to heal them. So you can stay targeted on the boss and just put your curser over a player to cast on them rather than clicking them, casting then clickingnor trying to tab back to the target enemy to dps

You changed much from this video in 7.1?

what transmog is that
Mythic Tier 17 Priest set :) But with a few different items. Ill Check Soon and let you know.
