thank u for the vid! lol. i'm starting off as a healer after not being on wow in a couple years using disp priest as a first and you've been hell helpful (ur written guide + vids). quick question if ur still active on this yt but what was the click to cast addon you used in the gameplay?
Vuhdo is the addon I use for my healing frames. Would definitely recommend checking out my most recent video guide on this channel as it should be more up to date than this video
Is the boss attack pattern mechanism very easy to learn? is the pattern short and repeatedly? For example, the boss repeats 5 auto then a special attack twice then he guarantee to do an radius AoE 10 . Im asking you because to be a good Disc preist in raids, one should learn the attack pattern of the boss to prepare attontment and burst damage.
I agree with you in almost all the things you said. I am playing disc for a long long time, and Wod version sucked. It's finally challenging again, and I love it in Legion. Not. Many players can be good at it, coz it's probably hardest healer to play, thats why I think disc is special. Gj on video
Hey good vid homie. Just a heads up Mindbender mana return and damage doesn't scale from haste anymore as it did in WOD. Should be the same at all haste ranks.
Thats not true at all. Go to one of the dummies in your class hall and try MB without Power Infusion, then try it with PI. My MB does at least one more hit each time with PI, resulting in more damage, healing via atone, and mana return. At my 17% Haste my MB does 7 swings per cast without PI With PI I got up to 8 swings every single time
I seen that as well. Especially notice how he is preparing for that ahead of time by getting atonement on everyone so when the big damage hits, he is prepared. Very well executed.
Disc can be comparable, especially on specific encounters but generally it is just a bit lower than other healers as it brings tank-level dps in addition to its healing. I prefer Holy for raids and Disc for dungeons personally but will probably dedicate most of my artifact power towards Holy. Disc is focused on healing by dealing damage like I talked about in the video. Absorbs exist but are much reduced.
It definitely is going to be more difficult for Disc to succeed in Mythic+ than other specs. Holy will definitely be better for them as it can sustain the high healing requirement that M+ forces healers to reach.
Awesome vid, I actually leveled 100-110 Disc , I seemed to do better with it than I did shadow ( I have been away from the game for a couple years , so much had changed! )
Appreciate it! There have been some changes since this video, so definitely check out my written guides on wowhead for some of the talent selections :)
What i miss in disc priest right now is some sort of reliable out of combat heal. :/ Still think it feels arkward AF applying these buffs while doing dmg to maintain your heal troughput. I liked Disc during Wotlk / Cata the most though bubbles were OP i have to admit.
Shadow mend is great, until you're in a party that doesn't know you're disc and that you have to stand still to cast it. And you're healing the rogue while the tank and other dps are 100 yards ahead all with 70% health waiting to pull... and then you're kicked from the party because you're not healing, because everyone keeps running off. Feels like nobody understands how disc works after patch 7 except for a few good disc priests.
Hung up on a single word? Yeah so are half the comments lol. This video is also many months out of date so you may want to check out my written guide linked above or more up to date videos if you're not too traumatized. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It saves you a GCD but fights that don't last the duration the talent is wasted. A HoT formed from a DoT through Atonement is also not a very large heal at all.You would need to have Atonement up on multiple targetsbefore it starts to become noticeable and even then.. I've done more research and people are saying Grace > PtW unless you are in a raid where there are adds up
Seeing as how a Disc's performance is based off damage and healing, Grace while good for healing dungeons does not get you through them any faster and does not increase your damage. Very often in dungeons your HPS is irrelevant so long as you keep everyone alive, so if you can do it without Grace you get the benefit of higher DPS without impacting your HPS significantly because as stated, if everyone lives then HPS doesnt matter in dungeons. In Raids a very small portion of your healing is from non-atonement sources, and you're actually incorrect that Purge does very little healing. Check logs, click the dropdown menu for Atonement and see just how much comes from Purge often it is just as much as Penance. www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/1vk6YyMDP8rJ32Cb#fight=4&type=healing&source=10 If you have links to your research I'd be interested in seeing it but its quite clear to me and other top Priests that I've spoken to that Purge is much better.
Yeah, because there's no factual evidence to support it. People list anecdotes of having better SMends when you cast on tanks. Thats true in a vacuum, except for the fact that you should rarely be using SMend in raids period. If you have a convincing argument about the points I mentioned above I'm open to debate, but I have yet to see reasoning for taking Grace over Purge in raids with Grace only over Purge if you're struggling to heal dungeons
Looking forward reading and watching your guides. Wanna learn disc spec. keep up the good job.

man that thumbnail is pretttty fkn amazing.
So new sub here. i enjoyed the vid and i look forward to future content on disc
Mindbender is slightly different in that it's considered a guardian instead of a pet, I think. It's seemed more difficult to control since then.

Holy all the way! Spells stack nicely and mythics have been cake!
Oh my god that healing burst at ~13:50 or so
I seen that as well. Especially notice how he is preparing for that ahead of time by getting atonement on everyone so when the big damage hits, he is prepared. Very well executed.
Great video! helped me a lot :3
Which spec do you prefer honestly, holy or disc? Are they both comparable in terms of hps? Or is disc just mainly focused on damage mitigation?
Disc can be comparable, especially on specific encounters but generally it is just a bit lower than other healers as it brings tank-level dps in addition to its healing. I prefer Holy for raids and Disc for dungeons personally but will probably dedicate most of my artifact power towards Holy. Disc is focused on healing by dealing damage like I talked about in the video. Absorbs exist but are much reduced.
+Automatic Jak How do you feel about Disc running mythic+ ? I hear Holy is the best for mythic+ and Disc just doesn't compare.
It definitely is going to be more difficult for Disc to succeed in Mythic+ than other specs. Holy will definitely be better for them as it can sustain the high healing requirement that M+ forces healers to reach.
Automatic Jak Thank you for the reply. Its a little disheartening but I'll be mindful to switch Holy for it.
when is the advanced one coming?
Well we just finished mythics last week so I'll probably do Holy first in a week or so, then Discipline the week after.
Hey,
which Addon do you use for raidframe?
I use Elvui! All my addons and weakaura strings are in my twitch stream! www.twitch.tv/automaticjak/

Automatic Jak I Wii do that! thank you for your time and the guide!
awesome guide thank you
now I have a clue at least
ty very much
it's roots?!

Shadow Mend is a crazy good OOC heal. The debuff only applies in combat, so OOC you just have the hugest "flash heal" ability in the game.
Shadow mend is great, until you're in a party that doesn't know you're disc and that you have to stand still to cast it. +Automatic Jak (Dan Anzenberger) okay thx 4 da video man. ✌
"shizm" lol.. skizm.. schism.. :p
sad tt my guild force me to go Holy. I absolutely loooove healing in raids and doing world quest as Disc!
It's pronounced "scism".
*(skiz-uhm)
aey guhs
shizzm
way too fast, horrible pronunciation.. couldn't even finish the video. You don't mouse over and explain all the talents; you skipped several

sorry but Purge the Wicked seems like an awful talent
Based off what?
It saves you a GCD but fights that don't last the duration the talent is wasted.
