- Heavy Bowgun's up next and its looking kinda nutty. Rapid fire, new special ammo, manual guard, and some big new explosions. I may very well check out HBG more than I usually do. Enjoy!

Tin is glad you made this executive decision! Tin is also amazed you managed 47 seconds into 30 minutes!
I'm still in awe CR made it this long but hey I'm not mad it's perfect to watch with my meal
Apparently I'm pretty thorough. At least I don't think this was too meandering lmao

Tip for connor: Press the "," key to go backwards frame-by-frame, or "." to go forwards
Hell u didn’t even know this!
I might not be an HBG main, but I've played the guns plenty throughout the series.
20:45 Personally, I do think it's the weakpoint-cash-in attack. If you look, the wound on the face does disappear, but not after the initial shot, rather after it blows up a few seconds later. there's no red glow on his face when he's staggering back. It wouldn't surprise me either, from the look of things they're really making that ignition gauge a central mechanic to so many of the tools you have.
24:00 that slide reminds me of a similar move we got wit LBG in 5th gen that let you do a slide like that after shooting. I could see them giving HBG something like that but after guarding, like a defensive version.
Ever since we lost Crouching Fire, i feel like HBG lost a lot of its distinctiveness and character. It felt so directionless in World and Rise, so I'm glad they're changing it up.
From what we've seen, it looks like they're kind of leaning into that Sticky shot gameplay but just tying it to weapon mechanics alongside wyvernheart. To me it seems less like they're customizable, but that every HBG will have access to Wyvernheart and those sticky-type shots (they really remind me of the mines that LBG got in World and Rise, but as, like, Rifle Grenades) at the same time. I guess we'll have HBG with all these gadgets to do more straight-up damage while LBG will get more status and element focussed things.
Tbh, I was hoping for a more GU Valor HBG direction, with bursts of movement and burts of damage, a la ranged Greatsword (I had this amazing image in mind of us riding on the Seikret, getting off, and bracing against it as we do a big crouching fire), but I'm more than happy with what they've cooked up so far.
Happy to make this part of my morning routine these next two weeks
Happy to have ya
seeing this hbg stuff makes me excited and terrified for what lbg and bow will have in store
I’m definitely very interested
Wow you weren't kidding when you said you could talk about a 47 sec teaser for over 8 minutes lol. Impressive sir very impressive.
Holy yes 15 videos I'm so damn ready!!
If I want this kinda analytic depth, there's no way I'm doing individual videos. The final product would take so long to edit that it would be irrelevant when it comes out
@cr-volcanic yeah thats completely fair man, either way I'm chomping at the bit absolutely fiending for mh content lmao keep up the glorious work!
Im glad they are making Wyvernheart actually matter, its a shame that we only used it in the early game, and then never again.
GS and HBG/LBG are my mains in most games, so Im almost set with the trailers lol
Great video, Mr. Dr. Professor Connor. Glad you went so in depth with this weapon you don’t play very much.
I certainly tried 😂
Great video! Was fun trying to analyze a weapon I've never played.
Same
That big explosion move could also be another ignition ammo type because you can see the attachment on the gun as it’s being used just like with all of the other types shown.
FUCK YEAH CONNOR DROPS A NEW VIDEO TO FEED MY ADDICTION
My suspicion is that ignition mode enhances the ammo being used into a special version. So piercing ammo becomes more of a wyvern snipe, normal is the gatling mode and the enhanced sticky ammo is what we see during the focus mode.
10:40 I hope the bowguns get an extra mod slot at least so that players can customise a bit more. Especially if they are adding more customisation.
It’s worth mentioning that the doohicky the hunter attaches for ignition mode. Is just that. There wasn’t anything on the bowgun that the ignition battery went into. The battery latched onto the side using a clamp. Use the keys “,” and “,“ to go back and forward frame by frame.
Woops, use the “.” key to go forward a frame
The three special ammo counter symbols were there when the rapidfire was activated so i think Ignition mode basically combines both Wyvernheart and snipe i think.
those are used for the focus strike in focus mode its in the original video 30 seconds in
Something people aren't talking about is that it looks like they may have combined the shield mod and long barrel mod on the heavy bowgun since both are visible and you can auto guard without any condition s.
We got autoguard without aiming in the mhw as well. You just had to face the correct direction to block an attack.
If anything I hope shield mod will be more like additional mod you can craft, rather than sacrificing a precious mod slot. Many HBG's suffered from it
Yeah I was kinda wondering if they’re just gonna straight up give you the shield permanently now
Connor: This is a democracy in this community
*14 Weapons in 1 Big Video wins out*
Connor: F it we ball
As someone who voted for 1 big vid, if he can stretch the other weapons to half an hour then I’m down for ditching democracy.
@@lander6443Im just teasing Connor; as someone also aspiring to do MH Content on UA-cam, I completely get why he made this decision
I figured I’d see how long this one would be and then make a decision between one or several videos, and then the recording was 40 minutes 😂.
I've been going through every detail in all of these. Tbh, they're absolutely AWESOME!!! But the one detail I still NEED is Gypceros! Put our *Beloved Monstie* in WILDS and let him finally ascend to TRUE PERFECTION!!
I won't refuse a Gypceros redemption arc
From what I can guess light and heavy are gonna be almost identical with movement differences and heavy gets shield with maybe the special ammo for each
I wouldn't be shocked if LBG might be getting itself another step up of manuverability to compensate for HBG looking a bit faster
@@cr-volcanic well it already had evade reload. Possibly a tether to the monster and slide around it while shooting?
@@hawkeveryWas my guess to. Plus probably full auto instead rapid fire.
@@hawkeverypurely going off what we've seen so far I don't think a move tethering you to the monster like Rises Lance would fit the more grounded feel Wilds is going for. Would be cool as hell but I personally see them saving a lot of the more fun lookin things like that for portable 6
@@julianswinton5355 possibly but I only see in short bursts
Welp, they fixed my only real gripe with Heavy Bowgun. I asked for Rapid Fire, I got Rapid Fire. Guess I should celebrate by doing a World playthrough with HBG.
I reall want there to be a 15th day of this with a whole new weapon, but I know that's highly unlikely. But what they're doing to continue refining all these weapons is really making me want to try out new weapons. Especially with world being the first time I used bows and bowguns, I can really see myself getting into them even more in Wilds now.
yeeeeeeeeah many videos bro, thats the time
21:48 That one right there is a thunderstick
As someone who voted for smaller videos, this is good
P sure in World the Special Ammo gauge does refill as you attack the monster, unless the 'time flies when you're having fun' effect just hit me way harder than I realized
More Dakka!
If he corrects it later that’s fine but it’s really irking me now. But the head weak spot does disappear after the secondary explosion.
Aight, it was kinda tough to tell and I thought I still saw the white scarring
Auto guard reminds me of God eater
HBG seems intersting to try(im never main HBG too😂) also worried if they combine LBG in HBG and throw out LBG from 14 weapons😅
Nah we still have both, so I’m feelin like LBG might be getting an interesting ramp up to compensate for these HBGchanges
I can't tell if I'm crazy or if he's actually reloading from that timed guard.
You sound like you’re trying to not wake up mother 😂
Yup. I don’t live alone😂
Hot take I think but I don't mind the early game weapons having basic designs. As long as the weapons have a unique design at the end of the tree, I enjoy the progression of seeing my weapons look progressively cooler as I get further in the game. Rise had unique designs for every weapon even at the start of the trees so later tree upgrades just felt kinda meaningless when I couldn't see the weapon change as it got more powerful.
As a hbg main i love what there doing to the rework. Special ammo got heavenly nerfed in rise and there was no point to using them. Wyvern heart did good damage but you couldn't use anything till after a sec of you stop firing. Wyvern snipe is my personal favorite but the damage and how much it ticks in the monster is just laughable, im better off just shoting then wasting time using it. I hope there more mods or better yet go back to tri way of fully customizing your bowgun. To the grip to the barrel of your bowgun, ever part you made and customized to your liking. Or at the very least go back to world mods system. Anything that not rise TWOOOOO MODS!!!!!! Like mhfu had 3 options for mods. How do you let a decade+ old game out do you, so embarrassing. Hopefully you get to choose which special ammo you use. The fouce mode shot like just like the wyvern shot but i really hope there other attack because if it just that while there weapons get dope ass attack, im be sad. The idead of a shield being apart of the hbg kit is an amazing idea. Having some defensive capability without sacrificing my mod slot or using my very limited deco shot bandwidth is great (if you didn't know bowgun are very deco hungry, in rise to just use a bowgun you need 9level 1 slots to just use it not to mention the skill that bost your damage)
The clash attack is cool but just look like the focus mod which is concerning. Overall i love what im seeing
Hopefully we get new ammo types that aren't like shrapnel ammo. Capcom add a new ammo type on rise gave it no support skills and was only used in memes builds.
Edit: for rapid fire for hbg, unless that recoil can be reduced by skills. I think it be a dps trap for main damage type ammo, spread, perc, normal. But it would be better for ailment and element ammo. Those ammo types craftable material are limited compared to the S,P,N whail out on a humt. So rapid would help you save ammo and less likely to run out mid fight while keeping up time on dps
I hate how burst fire is being called rapid fire.
Light and heavies were in wierds places in MHW (I didn't played Rise) and I hope Wilds will address that. Bowguns are in my opinion a really cool, yet underdeveloped weapons. Ammo types ranged mostly between "good" to "meh". And that's a shame to be honest. If you consider a gun capable of shooting different kinds of ammo - versatility and adaptability sticks to the mind. Not using one ammo type for the entire hunt. Or having like fire different ammo types which all were somewhat good.
Yes, there were Bowguns which were absolutely goated. But just like Blizzard Gust from MHW (Frostfang LBG) you had to either sacrifice a lot of damage or comfort of usage and that's not a good thing. This bowgun played more like HBG with long reload times on spread ammo.
I really do hope that Wilds will give weapons more supplementary stats in form of sharpness, higher ammo count or just crit to make space for better build verity. I think everyone who tried to make a comfy build in MHW with weapons like CB, SA, DB or IG. The only weapons which didn't suffered from it were LS and SnS since they were building just crit while many other weapons had a lot of thier own skills to use and boost thier DPS or survivability... Pre-Iceborne Swith Axe still have PTSD...
lol he says it's 8 minutes but the video is 30... well 28 if you remove the discussion of the monster poll.
I honestly though they were going to go down the list like how the weapons are arranged in the smithy. Well, I gues it's because gs and hbg are the ones they showed the most so far. The reason for that is likely the fact that those 2 are the original first 2 weapons that they designed for MH1.
Hmm if hbg is stealing, or copying, rapid fire from lbg... Oh no, what the hell is lbg getting? That is definitely the rapid fire animation.
The way the guard usually works, in 5th gen, was, so long as you are not in a firing animation the front of your gun is a shield so just face the attack and stop shooting just as it hits you. Recoil slows your animations, making you locked into the firing animation longer before you are in the guarded position again. Deviation is another gun stat that makes bullets fly more or less off course as they travel.
Wyvern heart and wyvern snipe use to recharge based on a timed cool down. Wyvern heart you could stop firing at any time and the speed it refilled wasn't effected by how full it was. The damage did ramp up if you held wyvern heart long enough though. Wyvern snipe was a single shot with a full meter so you had to wait for it to be full and if you missed you had to wait the full duration again. heart is a machine gun and snipe is a piecing shot that has explosions follow the projectile's path shortly after. Wyvern snipe also has you on your belly where you shield is useless and hearts follows the normal firing rules. It recharging based on aggression is nice.
Also sticky/KO hbg was a thing in World. If they want them both to be good at element and have one be the tank and the other being evasion that's fine. They really need to just kill the gunner meta though, that shit has had too much damage for how safe it is.
Being able to choose heart or snipe would be nice. I hated how heart guns were utterly awful at tenderizing in Iceborne, the animation was one of if not the longest and snipe's was one of the shorter ones. Against something like fatalis good fucking luck tenderizing with a heart gun.
In focus mode there's no more rapid fire, also maybe focus mode changes your the special ammo behaves too.
I'm personally very happy about HBG getting Rapid Fire, and being able to speed up regeneration of the Special Ammo bar by landing attacks.
So far, everything we've seen from HBG has the shield on it, which to me seems to imply that the shield is no longer an attachment, and is now a permanent part of the weapon. Personally, I would welcome the change. I also love the new SFX, they sound really satisfying.
My main concern from the trailer is that the Focused Strikes that HBG gets seem to be fairly similar to Sticky and Wyvern ammo. I'm hoping that they don't end up replacing them with the Focused Strike attacks, since that would mean the removal of one of my favourite playstyles.
Mainly though, I just really hope we get to keep the Charged and Crouching fire from Rise/Sunbreak.
I think it’s a pretty safe bet that that ignition shot just combines sticky and wyvern fire and that the separate ammos will still exist
I can’t wait for Switch Axe, Lance and more Chatacabra gameplay.
5:45 It definitely is just an Iron set of some kind, if you go back to the Mechanics video when they swap to the HBG, it has the same leather aesthetic we see with Greatsword. So I would guess the old west looking gear is indeed some kind of Village starter weapons
I can confirm the HBG on display is the Iron Assault HBG, presuming they keep the same name, looks basically identical to it's world design, minus the custom loadout the one in the trailer is sporting, though I'd presume the shield and what not would look similar.
Guys congalala is back they released some silhouettes for the weapons and the dual blades closely resembles congalalas armor set and also the fact that they’re not releasing the trailers in the order they usually do fyi we should have gotten LS today but if they went in order then they would have to reveal rathalos on atleast Wednesday and congalala on Thursday. Congalala rn:🗿
It's very much looking like he's back and I'm pretty happy about it
I don't think they will reveal returning monsters with these trailers, but I hope I'm wrong.
@@cr-volcanic yeah I think congalala is cool I like the design and the fart gimmick seems cool
@@linfa_mh I think in the rise weapon trailers they revealed some returning monsters like anjanath and tobi and kulu so it wouldn’t be a stretch
@@JorgePerez-yg4so yeah I know but Rise is the only time that happened.
HBG meta basically changed every game, in Freedom Unite Elemental HBG was a thing as of an exemple simply cuz Ashen Lao HBG had basically every element hahaha
GU was pierce for both guns, no surprise there
Yeah I don’t usually follow meta but I was pretty sure it was spread in World
Heavy has "manual" guarding in rise, but you need to use the charge shot switch skill to guarantee the block, and it was kinda just a tiny bit slow
Aight so this definitely gonna be the most controlled block they’ve given the gun
Yes. I have always liked the heavy bowgun shield over the barrel just cause safety as a bowgun player is pretty nice.
I wonder if the Devs decided to remove Sticky ammo as a craftable ammo type for the HBG and turned it into a Special Ammo type. This would probably be done to prevent sticky spam, maybe guarenteeing a stagger instead of KO? That's my take, anyway. Seeing as they didn't swap weapons, I wonder if you can slot multiple Special Ammo to fit whatever style you like best.
Rapid was super limited even on LBG in World, a bowgun pretty much had one type of rapid fire and that was it. Maybe they've expanded it back to Old World style were LBG has several Rapid Fires and are adding the single type Rapid to Heavy so that LBGs are more versatile and agile but heavy bowguns still are set to outputting damage and moving super slow (with things like Crouching Fire before, and Wyvernheart now they might as well make things like Normal 2 or Pierce 1 have rapid fire on Heavy)
14 videos for all 14 weapons? Hell yeah get that bag boy!
4:27 it could be that the starting weapons aren't the games' "Iron" base weapons but a different set, kinda like the kamura ones in Rise
And so the greatsword is that "kamura like type" of base weapon while this is the normal iron one
heavy bowgun almost sounds like hunting horn, if you only focus on the H. maybe that means the hunting horn will be shown next
What if the attack used at 20:25 is Wyvernsnipe as it uses the blue gauge similar to Wyvernheart, but you need to be in focus mode to use it.
Maybe its even chargeable, and that determines the damage and how much gauge is used.
God can we just appreciate how pretty this game is, it looks SO good
Spread got nerfed in Rise and pierce dominated I much prefer spread as the upclose style
Brrrrrrrr
4:05- The shoulder armor is called a pauldron.
Hbg enjoyers we seem to be back
It is kind of a letdown for me that they will probably use only Doshaguma to showcase all the weapon trailers because ngl, the confirmed monsters that were sneaked in Rise's weapon trailers were massively hype for me.
I freaked out over KULU of all thing being confirmed to the game because of how they announced it, it got me by surprise.
It's too early to tell for now.
Boy do I have news for you!
CAPCOM GIMME LS!! THE LONELY SAMURAI HAS ARRIVED, *tips fedora*
I hate the hit effects in this game. I hope they change that weird grey, weak looking dust effect
Could you point it out please? Like, where specifically does it show the most?
@@greatikechukwu4032 at around 5:53 when the hunter shoots the monster.
When the rounds hit, there’s this grey dusty effect. Instead of a satisfying hit effect.
You can see it VERY well on the Greatsword.
He swings this massive sword and when it hits the monster it’s just a lame little dust explosion. Really takes the weight out of the attacks in my opinion
@@wichiewamirez5599 I think i've read that the blood effect were disabled for weapons overview/trailers, i don't remember the reasons but i think it was already the case for rise and Gu
@@Rudruil I hope that’s the case. I know it’s just a little nitpick.
