    Well done, Chris. Looks like a beautiful spot - I'm looking forward to exploring up there when I finish a full refit of my RL28. What camera did you use shooting this? It does a great job.

      That’s a big project! I look forward to hearing more about it. I have two cameras an iPhone 13 and a GoPro 8. They both have their pros and cons. I use 16:9 cinematic mode most of the time these days. 1080p is all you need for UA-cam. GoPro good for action movement and wet conditions. iPhone better for composition but no matter what they say it’s not waterproof. I just upgraded due to a fried phone through dunking in the surf.

    Christopher you referred to Rosslyn Bay Marina as your departure and arrival points to and from Wathumba on Frazer Is. I think you mean Urangan Marina. You had me puzzled for a bit and I couldn't get the gist of what you were talking about. As you probably Know Rosslyn Bay Marina is near Yeppoon and is where I first sailed my TS a Farr 6000. I've done the trip to Wathumba many times and usually stay a fortnight at least. Cheers, Pete.

      +Peter Barnes slip of the tongue. I was at Roslyn bay the previous trip. Just a couple of weeks ago. Sorry about the confusion.

      +Daniel Smith You have got yourself a great boat there. My brother has one and sails very competitively at the Devonport yacht club in Tasmania.

    Oh that Coral Sea! Fantastic. Great camp out with the dingo and then the whales too. Loved the Mozart graphics, they go well on the boat.

      +Christo Engelbrecht thanks Christo it really makes her stand out. I’ve been experimenting with some different things. UA-cam makes it a challenge to get traction. But this video is going pretty well. It’s getting the best results I have been able to achieve to date.

      Usually I sleep on board, but this time the campsite was so nice with the boat pulled right into the shore we decided to stay in the tent. It's nice to be able to stand up straight to get dressed!

    04:42 Have you thought about running your jib halyard back to the cockpit along with a downhaul for your jib back to the cockpit?

    • @SmallSailboatCruising
      @SmallSailboatCruising  3 роки тому +1

      +Sailing Citrine Sunset used to be like that before I restored her. I’m thinking a good solution would be roller furling

    • @sailingcitrinesunset4065
      @sailingcitrinesunset4065 3 роки тому

      @@SmallSailboatCruising Im not a fan of furling headsails. I used to have one but when it jams in 20kts+ its a nightmare single handed. I use hanked on headsails with a downhaul so I can raise & lower from the cockpit and I've just bought a new 100% jib with 2 reefing points fitted.

    Hi. Im just completing a purchase on a sonata 26, and these will be my local sailing grounds. I've never owned a trailer sailer before...always bluewater keelboats, so i'm a little concerned about the adaptations required. Did you ever get any local knowledge on crossing the bar on a following sea, in a trailer sailer?

    • @SmallSailboatCruising
      @SmallSailboatCruising  6 місяців тому

      I love the Sonatas. Boats like this will get up and plane, so it’s tricky to control them. I ended up doing 12 knots on one occasion and it didn’t broach. Best advice is avoid big seas on bars as trailer sailers are not designed for it as a full of thumb. Always get the ride and the current right and don’t do it in any kind of swell.

    Hi , thanks for your video. my son has asked me to go with him on a hire cat from harvey bay to fraser november 23...... We had a farr 750 and sailed moreton bay for three years. Any tips for me and hubby and son for sailing harvey bay to fraser.

      As you know it’s all about the weather and the tides. It can get pretty big out there. But in the right conditions it is beautiful. Great mother and son vision. I use navionics for charts. Very cheap on iPhone and a free copy of PredictWind. Look up Holly Puckering on UA-cam kids in boats.
