In this episode of Hermitcraft, Doom Guy embraces his inner omlete as he describes his plans for the mass eggstermination of chickens using a pirate fox.
It makes me so happy you called them "Impulse Item Filters" ❤ its so nice seeing his name attached to his filter that so many people use and is still reliable even after all these years/updates.
@@tonoz3461 yeah, but calling them impulse item filters is a lot less common that calling a hopper clock an etho hopper clock, so I was just showing some appreciation that X calls them that :')
For the scaffolding game, you can add slime blocks randomly in the scaffolding to break your fall, but if you break the slimeblocks too fast, you die but can go slow to skip the slimeblocks in the scaffold.
In case you would like to revisit the fox looting idea. By placing another hopper minecart where the fox is standing, it should be able to pick up the drops before the fox, and the other hopper minecart below the slab should also be able to suck them out of the first one.
That will work I think, but since the farm is so efficient eventually it's going to fill the 2 Minecraft hoppers and then when those are full the chicken meat will just drop for the fox to collect Maybe with another type of minecart unloader it could work, by using the design that destroys the minecart hopper. This is the kind of over the top contraption that X would really enjoy making imo
@@NimonoSolenze or could you make it so after a point (like when it gets to the last shuker box placed to fill) it changes the farm into egg farming mode so no more spawn?
With the scaffolding, if you crouch in the center you don't take damage because the game makes you descend through the hitbox. So, if you break them straight down, you can go really fast without taking damage (as long as you slow down before you hit actual ground)
That moving skull painting though 🤩 is that part of vanilla tweaks or what? We all know Minecraft could use all the movement it can get 👀 definitely want that in my world!
Your mini game looks fun. Maybe the hermits could do a second pass at the mini games district in preparation for Decked Out 2. Have a stream day where everyone plays games in the district then have a grand unveiling of Decked Out 2 at the end to kick off the madness. Of course that would need to be coordinated with Tango once he is close to finishing.
I really love the prevention of opening the shulker unless its selected, that is such a cool mechanic. All the different things kind of reminds me of a five-and-Dime/pound shop/dollar store.
I remember in Season 7 Tango had a chicken farm that used foxes with swords to kill the chickens. I can't remember how he had it set up to keep the foxes from picking up the drops, but you could look into his old videos or ask him if you want to go back to using the fox.
one thing to note with the farm design if someone were to built it, the killing system would only work if the server has doFireTick set to false (so the log doesn't disappear)
that 'fix' for beds and respawn anchors.... thats brilliant. makes beds actually usable as sleeping bags. you could go on a nomad journey, setting up mini bases and loot storage caches, sleeping as you please, all while having your anchor set at your main base, then teleport back as you please. could even use spawn blocking instead of breaking to create a temporary 2 way teleport.
*@xisumavoid* 8:20 Try putting the Respawn Anchor in the Overworld? Also (in Overworld), try setting your spawn to the anchor, put down the bed & sleep, then break the bed, then die & see where you end up? Would also be interesting to see if the Bed has "priority" over the Anchor, or if it is strictly whichever was used last? ( 9:00 YES! )
I hope the hermits will have a final project for this season and it would be TFC's memorial build. So that everyone will remember TFC played on this server when they download the world. o7 TFC
Can't express how much I've missed 'Sailing Clouds of Night' playing in the intro! :-) But I still miss the wonderful "Hello, everyone, and welcome to another episode oooofff Hermitcraft!" You said it on episode 1105 and I was delighted
In modded there are "sleeping bags", basically portable beds that don't change your respawn point. I think something like that would be ideal for building or exploring without affecting your respawn point
I like the minigame! you can automate the start with a redstone countdown, players standing in a hard block on top of the scaffolding tower, and pistons that retract those block, so they get access to the scaffolding at the same time. Maybe make a very large tower of scafolding, with dried kelp dispensers midway, so you get an "extra life" as you advance through the game. The shop looks great!!! :D (maybe it's not Scar/Grian proof tho)
The scaffolding contest reminds me of how you can decend down a ladder faster by moving away from it far enough to free fall and then moving back again to catch yourself, but if you're too greedy you'll hit the ground before you can return to the ladder consequently take fall damage. It has the interesting mechanic that the longer you're in free fall, the faster you fall and thus the less time to have to react before hitting the ground, but returning to the ladder slows you down again, costing you time. It's a very similar predicament to the scaffolding breaking show in this video, and would probably work just as well for a mini game.
I think the double respawn setting is a really bad idea. Often, we set our spawn if we're about to do something dangerous but then you want to take away that spawn point afterwards (some players always have a bed with them to set new temp spawn points wherever they go). I can imagine so many scenarios where a player would die and suddenly be in the nether, surprised and nowhere near where they want to be to recover from their last death. Just my 2 cents tho!
really hoped Xisuma would just knock that scaffolding down killing all of them, even though I don't think Xisuma would ever actually do something like that
Very nice looking shop! As for a use for all the eggs, set up a dropper under other Hermits bases, set to go off at random (preferably long) intervals. Make them think a chicken keeps getting in an laying eggs >:)
2:16 There’s factory farming and then there’s whatever this is. Well done though. Re: Bed thing: New item idea: Sleeping bag. There are a few mods that do this already, but it’s an item that lets you sleep through the night anywhere without resetting your spawn point. Would be an excellent addition to the game.
I'm pretty sure Tango had issues with foxes with swords in his season 7 chicken farm. I can't remember if he ever came up with a fix for it. Might be worth looking for the frying pan in the S7 world
Beef’s trading card game has summoned many hermits back to the server and now, as a poultry man card is in production X builds a chicken farm? Will we finally discover who is behind the poultry mask?
for a scaffolding minigame, you could build a square of 9 scafffolds, up quite high, possibly even build height, players start at the top, and before starting each player selects a button, which is connected by redstone to a piston the bottom of the scaffold, breaking a random (or player selected) scaffolding block at the bottom with a piston. then players pick their stack and race to the bottom, starting with full health would probably work for this as well.
The only way I can see the 'feather' logic being avoidable would be to have line of sight with the chicken be limited to only occur when the chicken is on the ground (i.e. pressure plate). But that would still need to be tested.
What a coincidence! I've also been working on a chicken farm that drops chickens down a shaft of cobwebs! But in my case, it's not a fully automatic one, but the player is down there with a Looting sword, and the top is a lot simpler (no egg collection mode). I actually was experimenting with having multiple shorter cobweb shafts and bubble elevators between them to keep it more compact vertically, but the chickens kept getting stuck on the connector bits, so now it's a simple 64 block high cobweb tower.
Our server started a second hub for the newer content and YES it would be amazing to have a sort of spawn override, Like beds being your little camp, and some sort of overworld lodestone or make your big main base
I really wish beds were not the respawn point because I always bring a bed with me and break it when I’m done, which causes me to go to spawn when I die and it’s a hassle. I wish beds were just for sleeping and the respawn anchor was for any dimension so you could have a specific spawn point all the time.
Scaffold minigame idea: players stand on top of big column of scaffolds and try to go down by breaking it as fast as they can. But after 5 seconds, a person at the bottom knocks out the lowest block, so that the scaffold starts breaking upwards too. At some point, the upwards breaking and the downwards breaking (by the player) will meet and the player will fall. The faster they managed to travel down, the less fall damage they suffer. The challenge: can they survive the fall?
A looting fire aspect sword in a foxes mouth is not how I expected this farm to evolve into. That being said that is an incredibly cleaver use of game mechanics.
You could give impulse some of the redstone as he will need a load for I buy in the lift Love the shop x looks awsome and I like how it’s all automated
I agree whole-heartedly with your bed/respawn anchor idea, but I honestly still just love the idea of a sleeping bag that many mod packs have. You can sleep in it to pass the night but it doesn't set your spawn and it pops off the ground when you wake up
Instead of both, it should be the last 3 viable points regardless of tyle, in order of activation. Be a pretty simple data array. One breaks, it's removed from the viable list array. That way you sleep in a bed at home, go out mining/building and do the usual sleep/break/mine spree over and over, if you do die, you still have a valid location in your array, which is your home you slept in 20 sleeps ago.
Some changes to the respawn anchor would be welcome ive barely ever used it in survival and rarely see others use it but maybe using anchor to set spawn would be used more if we did not get harassed by phantoms for not sleeping
I've been wanting a sleeping bag item for years. It would let you sleep through the night without setting your spawn. It could be crafted with 3 wool over 3 hay bales.
Maybe try to waterlog the rails of the minecart you sit on in order to slow it down? I get the feeling it would help you dig more of the blocks in the back, which i think would improve the overall rate.
I would love the opportunity to respawn closer to bases I have that are tens of thousands of blocks away. I use the vanilla tweaks home command when I use my long term world as a “new game” by going as far away from my bases as I can.
Yeah, I took a long hiatus from minecraft so all those blocks like the respawn anchor are new to me. Once you mentioned the death message I immediately had the same "backup spawn point" idea as you. Im shocked it doesn't since the item is basically useless otherwise. It gives 0 practical benefits over a bed.
From a technical perspective, the shop is really cool :) But from a UX perspective, having to unlock each shulker box you want to buy from individually is unnecessary extra work. It reminds me of Tango's explanation of designing Decked Out recently where he said he starts with the ideal interface and then builds the redstone around that, rather than doing it in reverse which can result in an unintuitive or unhelpful interface. None of this really matters though since you're going to generate a little bit of fun and novelty for the first time people shop in your shop. Maybe it will wear off after the first few purchases but I say that's worth it for a shop in a block game :P
I suspect the reason why player spawn points are not dimension-specific is the possibility of unwanted behavior. While it's a cool idea that you could spawn in a different dimension than you might otherwise expect, it's not cool if you have both spawns set and than the one you want to use gets destroyed (by another player, a creeper, etc.) while you are off somewhere else and then you get sent to an entirely different dimension than you expected, perhaps without any of your stuff.
