- This video is a resin jewlery tutorial for beginners. The tips, tricks and techniques I use throughout this video are easy to follow and will show you how to fill an open backed bezel, closed bezel, make cuff links and cast in a jewlery mould for a flawless outcome. Additionally, I show how easy it is to dome without using a doming resin, how to clean up your bezels if there is a over spill and how to turn the finished pieces into jewlery.
All the materials that I use are below in this description. Have fun making your resin jewlery and it doesn't matter if you are a beginner or more advanced there is something here for you. Please leave a comment or question in the description and I will ensure to get back to you.

Although I often talk about health and safety in my videos, please make sure you do your own research and take the relevant precautions to ensure that you are protecting your health. I am not responsible for anyone using resin and not taking the correct safety precautions. Resin is a chemical and as such should be always treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken.

Thank you. Its so refreshing to have someone down to earth & honest ( & easy to follow) help us beginners. Cheers 😉
Thank you sooo much for this video!! You covered a lot of issues I was running into and getting frustrated with. Much appreciated!
Thanks, Steve.
Hi Steve, love you’re videos. Just sharing a little tip I use, when putting your stickers in, I tend to pop a tiny amount of resin into the mold first, heat to remove bubbles, add my sticker then pour the rest of the resin on top. Still learning myself, just sharing the love.
Omg. I am having problems with my open back bezels. You make it look so easy!! Thanks for sharing this vidio!!
Oh I really think that these are wonderful. I can’t pick my favorite. I absolutely love the cufflinks, of course the silver hearts make it special. I also love the larger green one and then the blue round one. Thank you so much for sharing. I still haven’t tried resin yet. Maybe after the holidays. Have a great week.
"I just know how messy I am." 😂 yeah this tutorial is for me
Amazing! I’m excited to get started ☺️ thank you for sharing your tips!
Thank you so much for all your tips! Your pieces look so great!
You're ABSOLUTELY not the only "messy crafter" out there 👋 Thanks for that heated blade tip! I sure can use it, as always great tut, awesome personality! Thanks 👍
Doing open backs and have found it difficult. Thank you for the tape idea, I used tape before but apparently didn't work the bezel enough to securely seal it.
Hi Steve I've just subscribed to your channel it's so lovely to see a gent crafting I'm just learning to make these x

I’ve been wanting to try working with resin and your videos have inspired me to do so! Thank you so much!
I did some cufflinks with a photo and came out beautiful, I surprised myself lol.
Great video. You have answered many of my questions.
Where do you buy the cuff links, individual moulds/ bezels etc? Thanks in advance
Informative! However i was looking for a tutorial on what kind of resin, how to mix and color etc. Do you have a video for that? Thanks
You have no idea just how useful your videos are. They're simple basic easy instructions to follow along & remember. Not to mention thorough. For someone about to start it's wonderful. Plus they're just plain entertaining to watch. I've really enjoyed them. As evidenced by how many I've watched before even getting around to trying my new kit.
Now I'm going to watch this one because we have the same mold.
Then I'm going back to the video I was about to watch of yours when this was recommended by UA-cam.
Love the experiments and money saving tips too!
Great video...can I ask what brands of resin you like? I was looking into getting craft resin. Have you ever used it and if so what is your experience with it? Looking to make pendants and keychains too :)
Thank you. This video is awesome. You make it look so easy. What is the name of the heat gun you use?
Why did you need to seal the bits you put in the cuff links Steve?
Hi, Steve!
I'm a baby resiner. I have bought the resin and some moulds and bezels, but have not started pouring and playing with it. I've spent the last couple of days watching your videos. How long should you wait for your resin to cure (to dome) if the working time is 30 minutes? Thanks
Hi Steve, Thanks for making these tutorials they are very informative. You said in your video that you would add the link where you buy your chain from but I can't see it. Could you please tell us where and what size you use .
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Thanks Steve, I am in the UK.
Hi Steve! Thank you for the video! I was wondering how can I add a phone number on the back of an open resin tag? 🙂
whats the best resin part a & part b 1:1 ratio to use for your projects?
i'm curious?
Which stage needs really good ventilation because of the odour? The entire time it’s setting or just the first little while?
Very enjoyable Steve. Thank you. Where do you get the leather from? Warmest wishes to you
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts many thanks
In the jewellery pack I got, I got the metal pendants and a clear bit that's the same shape and I don't know what those bits r for
did you add colour to the resin or is it already coloured?
What molds are u using and can u put flowers in the closed back ones
Is it possible to layer different opacitities of resin to make a cameo necklace? I've some ideas for classic interpretations as well as some goth/horror inspired ones.
How you do with picture do you print first.. I want to start I need help :)
I’ve been looking for a resin teacher I like, TAG, your it, 😆
I’m a beginner. I retired last year and this is a new hobby that I am enjoying so much. Watching your videos has been so helpful! Thank you!
When you are doming. Do you add just Part A of the resin or a mix of both?
Steve McDonald Arts and Crafts thank you. That’s very helpful.
Me and my friend are making resin. Earrings can we use this video to help us?
Hey Hi.. Do You Mix Paints In Your Resin? And What Kind Of Paint They Are? Can We Add Glitter Too In Resin?
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts thank you so much sir.. 😊🙏🏻😊
This has been very helpful, thank you so much for sharing this. One thing I wasn't clear about, did you let the original resin in the bezels cure for a while before adding the doming resin? Or do you make all the resin, including the doming clear at the same time, then add it after you have filled all the bezels if it's been about 30 minutes so that all the resin is at the same "age"? Thank you so much!!
Steve please help me! The front of my pendants look okay except for a few bubbles after it cured. However the back of my bezel look bad because I made a mess. Is there a way to clean them up? I don't want to throw them away. I have popsicle sticks and wood stuck to them.
Where do you get your bezels and chains?
Do you have to seal the little picture for the cufflinks? What is the purpose of sealing it before pouring the resin? Could you just put the picture in the resin directly? what would happen?
What about sublimated pictures or printed vynil do they need to be sealed?
Could you use uv resin to dome?
Can I dry resin without using uv Light?
What's filled in all the moulds ? Is all are paints or different colors ?
What is the name of the stuff you use to shine up the back?
How do you removed the resin out of the jewelry if it messes up
I happend to have some issues trying to "peal of" the finished piece of the tape. It sticked strongly to it and not my jewelry is sticky on that one side. Does someone has an idea what to do? How to remove the stickyness?
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts thank you, I will definitely try to use the alcohol.
Does alcohol ink in resin affect resin drying?
Literally you are the first person to heat up the knife. That makes it so much easier. Thank you!
Do you have to seal, I've watch others videos that do not seal?
how did u add color to resin mix?
I can't seem to find the US link for the deburribg tool.
Hi Steve
You never fault in any of your
Crafts with resin
Love watching them over and over
Love the way you just go for it when you try anything new
There's nothing you do that I don't Like. X
They're cute 😍 especially the cufflinks
Have you tried UV resin?
Can I use regular tape doing this ?
Okay I see it thank you
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts 😁
Thank you for sharing all of your work! I love watching all your videos!
The lolliestick tip is worth its weight in gold. Thanks Steve!!
👍😀
That is packing tape, not painters tape, that you used to seal the images for the cuff links
And again, when you are pressing your open bezels down on the tape,...packing tape not painters tape. Painters tape doesn’t stick very much bc it is designed to be able to pull off easily without pulling fresh paint off. Packing tape is very sticky bc it is meant to hold a heavy box
Crafters that are equally as messy.
Umm, no comment.
Hey I’m a diabetic and epileptic so it’s difficult for me to get around as much as I used to be able to I used to be a very good gymnast since I was 4 to 13 got diagnosed diabetes at five and Epilepsy at 6 1/2 I’ve also got a few surgery sense so it’s difficult for me to keep up with my physical health mentally I’m very strong physically I’m not as strong as I used to be would this really help?
11:10 zipper?
Can't watch you your not in camera view. Failed
Gloves babe if gets on your hands it can cause a reaction which is very nasty and sore and itchy you a nice person I'm worried about your hands sweety 🥴😘
You hide the process
CENTER YOUR CAMERA
I'm sorry but you lost me in a number of places. Cuff links: all I saw was brown paper workspace. All prep work was off-camera. Commentary: please work to a script, then it will flow rather then hearing pauses, ah', oh's etc. Though you may have all the information in your head, we are dumb-bunnies. You must assume that your audience has no knowledge at all. But beware of losing your work going off camera.
