There are four. Flight, fight, freeze, fawn. “ fawning refers to a trauma response in which a person reverts to people-pleasing to diffuse conflict and reestablish a sense of safety. It was first coined by Pete Walker, who wrote about this mechanism pretty brilliantly in his book “Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving.””

This comment is everything, thank you Bethany. Most people don’t realise there are four and it makes people who fawn or freeze that the have done something wrong and blame themselves. I’ve got complex ptsd and it’s definitely something that’s very misunderstood in general by people. This comment is needed, thank you so so much for spreading information to help understand this more. Happy new year Bethany and I wish you well xxxxxxxxxx

Many reasons: Diane never asked about it and he was not volunteering telling stuff that he wasnt asked about. The second is that the video is actually longer than showed in here and he kept saying how heavily pregnant Laci is and mentioned his son Conner, he said that she needs help with the final stage of the pregnancy. Thirdly, the child was not born yet so for a guy it's super hard to create a bond with an invisible baby at this stage. He cared about his wife who was pregnant and guys look at it as a one person at this stage. Watch the entire video and you will understand. Dont comment on snippets.

It was actually proven that the detective on the case was removing important information about witnesses,so that is unfortunately incorrect. There is a lot of evidence to point towards Scott being a innocent man,one point being several witnesses saw laci walking their dog long after Scott had proof of being on his boat. Not to mention their being a burglary across the street the same morning laci went missing. A inmate was caught talking about the case also, with a man who claimed that laci confronted the guys burglarizing the home across from hers and that they had threatened her.

Technical question: In regards to eye-blocking, is the lighting of the room taken into account? Lots of bright lighting is used in filming studios that could result in light sensitivity and an unusual amount of blinking. Not to say that meaningful eye-blocking wouldn’t also happen; just wondering if it’s a consideration and how it would be factored in to a NV read.

@@fromtheSon you do understand that not everyone is going to agree with you, right? In no way did I say he’s innocent, but I cannot say without an absolute doubt he is guilty without having direct evidence of a crime. For example, there is no murder weapon. The cause of death is undetermined. There is no direct evidence linking Scott to the death of Laci Peterson. That is a fact. Also, a torso of a pregnant woman, Evelyn Hernandez, was discovered in the San Francisco Bay. Both Laci and Evelyn were around 8 months pregnant when they disappeared, and Evelyn disappeared 7 months before Laci. Also, witnesses saw Laci walking the dog which puts a wrench in the prosecutions timeline.
Unfortunately, if people were convicted primarily using circumstantial evidence, even more innocent people would be in prison for a crime they didn’t commit. This already happens way too often. That’s not justice, and I cannot support it. The only thing I believe is Scott Peterson was a bad husband. Logic, hard evidence, and rational thinking is more important than “common sense” when it involves someone’s possible innocence and life. Being a shitty husband and cheater does not mean you’re also capable of murder.

I figured he was the latest white collar Wall Street scammer, based on his body language and how he was dressed. Several people around me immediately piped up to say that no, he was a grieving husband whose wife was missing, and he was trying to raise awareness to find her.

Anyone else think non verbal communication is linked with gut feelings? I've heard so many stories of people just not liking another person but they can't say why, and then that other person turns out to be harmful. Perhaps we subconsciously read them, and our lizard brain sends out the flight response without our higher faculties, which are being used as normal in a social situation. That may cause that feeling of 'I don't know why, but I have to leave.'

Many family annihilators and wife killers had never been violent before to their partners. Especially when the partner has a close family who would know, and Laci wasn't the type to hide it. She would have sought her family's support. Chris Watts the same, John List, Bradley Bishop and others, who had never been violent until they decided to wipe out their families. They may have shown passive aggressive tendencies - subtle putdowns of their partners but were never actually violent. So I believe Scott that he had never hit Laci, he'd never have gotten away with it even if he was that way inclined. Habitual abusers isolate their partners from their friends and family........

She forgave him for that.....he must have sweet talked her around. But that wasn't the only time he cheated. I'm sure she sensed it but didn't want to rock the boat by confronting him. She knew there was something up as he wasn't pleased about the pregnancy. He never wanted to discuss it or touch her belly and feel the baby moving. She told her mother about this........I would have been very hurt if it was me. I think she hoped all would come right after the baby was born and that it would bring them close again and that he would settle into fatherhood and be a good dad. Sadly she was dreaming. Some fathers do get a bit freaked out with this new responsibility coming along but they usually get over it and become doting dads. Not Scott though....and he didn't want to look like the asshole who left his pregnant wife for another woman or to screw around the way he wanted to do. Many psychopaths have this in common, they don't want to look like the bad guy.......like Chris Watts. Better to be treated as a grieving father and husband who's wife went missing and was never found, and get sympathy and support from all and sundry.......they are never as smart as they think they are and its a big shock when they get caught.

I've picked up a habit of watching apology videos on mute then see how it makes me feel. I'm not knowledgeable in nonverbal communication, but I think we, to an extent, can understand nonverbal cues. Without the voice or (scripted) words, sometimes apology video just reeks of frustration and it seems the person is shouting. Or just indifferent. Or just being interviewed. It's interesting.

The content of the videos on this channel continues to impress me. I will continue to promote this channel all over every reddit true crime related sub & now that he does regular TC content it makes more sense for me to do that. When I first started recommending this channel there was no TC content but it was still golden content that could be applied to those subjects but I'm so pleased he started focusing on this topic.
I have massive respect for how he makes it very clear if something lacks data & certainty, how he is open about accuracy. It is a breath of fresh air from similar channels where they make huge claims about speaking on behalf of murder victims, finally revealing the truth, etc. Boosting their own egos while spreading dangerous misinformation. They need to take a leaf out his book.
Keep up the great, interesting work, long may you continue to grow.

I remember this case and watched it from beginning to end. I was so sad that Lacy lost her life as well as her unborn baby.
I believed from the very beginning that Scott killed Lacy and I still do. It's easy to connect the dots in this story. Scott was a womanizer, he allegedly told Lacy he was cheating on her. Scott goes and buys a boat then claimed he was going fishing on Christmas eve. Lacy comes up missing. Her car is still at home, keys and purse still in the house. Lacy is found dead in the water and her unborn baby had evacuated from her body. How did she get from the house to the water? Scott killed her in the house, drove her body to his boat then dumped it in the water. It's an open and shut case of murder.

He also told Amber on December 9th that he lost his wife when someone told her friend he was married. He bought the boat not long after and told no one which to me are red flags like he was already planning on killing Laci.

Thank you for yet another amazing video 😍 I don't know how much you know about the death of Selena Quintanilla, but she was murdered by a woman who worked for her whose name is Yolanda Saldivar. He's outright lying. Scott never told Laci he had an affair. She had no clue as they were preparing for Xmas at her parents house. Laci's sisters and mother said she would NOT have been ok with any affair and that she would have told them about it. A friend of mine when she was 9 months pregnant punched her husband in the nose when he told her he was leaving her for another woman. And my friend is even small and more petite than Laci - not even 5 feet tall......but such was her fury and anguish that she punched him. And he left her alone like that in a state of shock and grief.
