You have got to hear Amira sing "Nearer my God to Thee..Fantastic.
The pianist accompanying them in the background didn't get a mention. He is Charl du Plesis, Dr of music and Steinway ambassador to South Africa. He helped Amira with arranging the music for this concert. The streamed concert was An African Christmas with Amira and friends. It was 2020, when she was 16. There are a few other performance's from it on YT.

Excellent reaction, and I concur with a previous commenter's recommendation the you react to Amira singing "La Vergine degli Angeli" with a male chorus! One of the things I love about Amira is that she is so often in the company of, or accompanied by, other superb musicians, whether it be fellow singers or musicians. I guess excellence attracts excellence!
Please react next to Amira singing "La Vergine Degli Angeli" by Verdi. She performs this with a male choir in the background. It is sublime.
I agree. This is an excellent recommendation. The male chorus is superb, lots of depth, and Amira is, well, Amira, and the whole effect is as Dana says, sublime!
Yes I second that. From the same concert... It's divine simply and so peaceful, just as this one is.
Another duet she handles well, a couple of years before this, is The Flower Duet with Corlea Botha. They harmonise so well together. I would like to see you assess some more of her stuff.
Thank you so much for your amazing visual illustration of the two voices singing together and the difference in vibrato, this explains why we feel elated and joyous when Amira sings and in this duet both she and her partner are wonderful - thank you for doing a wonderful analysis to help us understand our own reactions!
Great to have you back on the amazing journey of Amira. You have a couple of suggestions below & I’ll add another to the list. The performance is ‘ When You Wish Upon a Star ‘ aged 16. Here, you will see another facet of her remarkable versatility.
Many would say ‘’ but this is such an easy song to sing’’. They would be so, so wrong. Amira sings this beautiful song in a very slow tempo, requiring an enormous amount of breath & voice control, such attributes afforded to only a few. Yes, DJ, Amira is a Legend in the making, & will become such a Legend within her own life time.

Where have you been. Love your reactions I subscribed. A lot has happened since you last did Amira. She put together three very high quality streaming concerts. This piece was in one of them. Next try Caruso, La Vergine degla Angeli and the Lords Prayer.
I held my breath on the final note and almost passed out. 😂
How many singers cause a listener to be strongly impressed.. every single time they are heard? ... IMO, there has never been, not now, nor ever can be.. a voice like Amira!
My suggestion would be the "O mio babbino caro" accompanied by orchestra lead by Andre Rieu. (Best version in his channel) I cannot judge anything on the technique or whatsoever but watching the reactions of the people at the concert and the massive standing ovation at the end is a thing. Sure we have to follow her in her latest endeavors but oh my, her first steps was history in the making.
Great reactions and whatsmore sounding knowledgeable on the subject. Really have enjoyed Amiras songs for a while now. I realise that they are older performances, and church/carol based, but not too many people have suggested or have reacted to her performances of Onse Vader or Jerusalem from Njimegan in 2017 which i also find very good. Might be worth a listen.
Without trying to be impertinent to Amira, have you heard of either Lucy Thomas or Emily Linge. Lucys rendition of Run is very good, and she also performs some duets with her younger sister Martha.
All that being said, glad to see you reacting again to Amira, she never ceases to amaze. A lot of her modern pieces as others below also state, range from sublime to unbelievable. Truly a privilege to be able to enjoy these performances
Lucy Thomas & her sister are fantastic! I have an autographed copy of her latest CD which I've almost played to death in my car. I wish more reactors would react to her many videos! I've not heard of Emily Linge. I will check her out! Thanks for your good comments! And, of course, I love Amira too, as well as another amazing young operatic singer Laura Bretan. Amira just turned 18 a few days ago, and Laura just turned 20.

Thank you for your Reaction. You might be interested in hearing some actual operatic arias. The Flower Duet with Corlea Botha, Nessun Dorma (CIG 2017), an early rendition of O Mio Babbino Caro (Andre Rieu's own recording). Another hymn, her most recent, Nearer My God to Thee, at a live concert in Pretoria on March 20 (a week before Amira's 18th birthday).
So much of what Amira does is amazing which doesn’t adequately describe her work. Many of the following are excellent suggestions. I will add one to the list. This one is really different from anything she has done and it’s just a lot of FUN! The song is “little drummer boy “. I know it’s kind of a Christmas song but oh so much fun.

Great reaction, as usual. The next fairly recent piece I would recommend is La Virgine Degli Angeli also from her Christmas concert. I am very curious to hear your analysis on that aria from Verdis' opera La Forza del Destino. Easy to look up on You Tube.

Wonderful song, wonderful informative reaction. I, being singer in a choir for hobby, like that that "technical information". A few years ago Amira has performed "Flower Duet" with another soprano. I can recomment you that one as well.
Lukhanyo Muyake the tenor here from South Africa. I love his voice. When they were recording this online concert late 2019 unfortunately both of them got hit with a throat infection. Amira managed to record all but one song at the time before her throat got too sore and the concert was delayed streaming a few days for her to recover to record that song. My guess is that it was The Little Drummer Boy.. though she never said which song it was.. Muyane alas while onstage for the final song they recorded together is only able to minimally participate and I suspect he would have done more solo parts in it otherwise. I'm hoping Amira will sing with him again. Their voices are so good together. South Africa have some wonderful opera singers. I love your reactions because you are so informative about voice use etc. Thanks for reacting to this. It's a gem..really beautiful.

When she first performed opera as her first song on Holland's Got Talent as a self taught singer by watching UA-cam, she was already incredible. With a little training she has become phenomenal. For the best example of upper register vibrato watch Dimash singing "Unforgettable Day" live in Gakku, only version that has it.
Barton Bagnes -- to think that when she sung at the Holland's Got Talent she was only 9 years old! I couldn't believe it my ears!

The “powerful lungs” you noticed probably come from her being a winning long distance runner since age 7 or so.

I'm new to your channel but like your response to this Amira performance. I don't know if you've reviewed Sissel before but I would be interested in your reaction to "Slow Down" which she did with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 2019. To me, it is mesmerizing.
