    The "lead with your hand not your legs (the legs will follow)" tip really fixed my serve rhythm problems. Thank you Patrick!

    • @Chris_Sheridan

      .. the legs initiate the drive - they do not follow the hand - the kinetic chain works from the ground upwards. Patrick Mouratoglou is an idiot - he knows nothing.

    • @Tony07UK
      @Tony07UK 2 роки тому

      This is wrong advice!
      The legs drive and the hips + body follow in sequence (upper body rotation) > then the shoulders and arm (hand) is last in the sequence, not first.
      Patrick Mouratoglou is an idiot - he knows nothing about tennis technique at any level; in any case he has never played in professional tournaments and has no experience in high level tennis.

    • @TheFlawless92
      @TheFlawless92 2 роки тому +3

      Uhm i wouldnt say that is entirely true because a very good player can still hit it flat down the line. Also, if it is a really good slice it will pull you out of the court enough to do serve and volley or groundstroke finish. So how much will you be willing to risk and cheat on the return?
      However, i agree. Having a toss closer to 12 instead of 10-2 allows for a much better disguise and allows to hit any serve.

    Interesting , adding slice is great, but it takes away power, often people have to learn to get rid of the slice action on their serve to have a flat serve. It is nice to have all three.

    • @willkittwk
      @willkittwk Рік тому +5

      True of course slice will slow the velocity of a serve somewhat but the main purpose is to pull a guy wide on deuce side and to hit T on ad and have it run away a bit. The kick is the slowest velo but of course the big bounce and reverse action. Watch like a good pro match the flat serve will be around 120-125 the slice around 105-110 and the kick around 80-95. You can just look at the MPH display and tell what serve the guy hit most times.

    • @johnboy6799
      @johnboy6799 2 роки тому +3

      Just think about throwing. Pronation happens naturally if you think of the serve as a throwing motion.

    • @cyclops1000
      @cyclops1000 2 роки тому

      I don’t believe you pronate on the slice. The palm of the hand is facing the sky at the end of the swing. It’s best not to think about pronation on the serve. If the grip is correct and the motion is correct the wrist will do what it needs to and that fraction of a second that you’re hitting the ball is beyond your conscious control. Thinking about pronation will cause you to be less fluid and force your wrist unnaturally, you cannot consciously control your wrist at that millisecond of impact at high speeds

    • @Chris_Sheridan
      @Chris_Sheridan 2 роки тому +1

      Pronation is essential for ALL serves. Go watch proper serve tutorials - not PM rubbish.

      @@DetectiveConan990v3 You need to get better educated .. your school obviously never taught you to do research. With an abundance of information available these days your ignorance is a choice. There are many established UA-cam channels that teach proper tennis instruction by experienced coaches - if you need to be spoon fed it's time to leave your parent's basement and explore the world outside your cot.

    • @Chris_Sheridan
      @Chris_Sheridan 2 роки тому +5

      .. best to introduce the correct grip as soon as possible - there are stages and suitable drills that a decent coach can introduce according to the ability of the student, whatever age - youngster or adult.
      Proper coaches do not back off from teaching the correct technique - in tennis there are no secrets or tricks or short-cuts. Proper practise and sound fundamentals are essential (too many lazy coaches on the bandwagon taking people's money)
