Definitely one of the most concise yet informative serve videos ive seen on youtube. Too many internet 'coaches' that teach the techniques scratching the back or elbowing the enemy which makes the whole serve routine too complicated for a rec player. Less is more!!!
Ah thank you I’m glad you enjoyed the concepts, I do agree the loop behind is an area not taught enough and is a vital thing to get right! Any way to make learning easier is our goal! 😁
My serve was the weakness of my tennis game. I watched many videos on how to do a serve but, none better than this. Before I watched this people took advantage of my serve and won their games. After I watched this video however most of my serves for aces. Keep on making these awesome videos! Love the videos! Thanks, Alex!
OMGOSH….of all the different serving videos I have watched, yours is the first one that ALL parts of the serve were explained in an easily understood manner! I get it. Thank you so much! You just gained a new subscriber. 👍
watch many many serve technique videos the last decade and THIS ONE finally unlocked the perfect set up and move to my pin point I had been searching for... tried it today and VOILA! easy and strong! THANK YOU!
Lovely use of pro serves in slow motion to illustrate your points. Makes me realize how fundamentally similar they are compared to us mere mortals. I see some pretty weird motions out on the public courts! I also love the concept of aligning the tossing arm with the angle of the front foot during set-up. Should help me with hitting my spots. I like my serve, but I struggle to land it any place but the middle of the service box.
Hi Patrick thanks for your message, and glad you enjoyed it! Yes every serve is slightly different, everyone has their “quirks” we just all try and get as many fundamentals right to make it go in 😁
The abbreviated serve should help my daughter, who has progressed very well over the past 2 months. Very great class, the best I have ever seen, honesty. Keep up the great work 👍.
I've been playing tennis for 4 weeks and watched every possible guide on serves. I actually had a pretty good serve at somepoint (i've practiced serving almost exclusively, because i cant find a tennis partner), just lacking a bit on accuracy but then it started going downhill. I think this video pointed out all of the problems i currently have with my serve. Gonna test these tips out ASAP but thank you in advance. This was very indepth guide and im looking forward to improving my serve with your guidance!
Good luck finding someone to practice with. A lot of people have usually played tennis in the past, just ask everyone for a game and you will find someone
I was struggling with getting my service in the right direction and inside the court. This helped a lot. Literally watched this video yesterday and immediately implemented these techniques during practice, I was able to identify the issues with my technique and hand and body movement. Even my coach was surprised to see sudden improvement in my service 😂😂
I have builded and renovated my service quite a lot from your lessons. This one is nice polishing on it! thanks a lot for your clear, well-designed, well-executed content!!!
Just watched it today and I played 30mins after . Honestly it worked so well. My serve was not bad before but now it has this spin and power unlike before, thanks mate!
As has been said several times, easily the best serve vid on YT. Too many YT tennis coaches over complicate the process by trying to reivent it. One I've seen breaks it down into 7 stages. My problem has been trying to transition from the way I serve, which although effective, restricts the power I can generate, to dropping the rocket behind my head. I do it brilliantly without the ball but haven't yet been able to do it with the ball 😂. The abbreviated serve is the answer for me, which I've not come across in all the vids I've seen until now. Thank you.
Awesome lesson, Alex! Great teachers take things that are complex (e.g., the serve!) And make it simple for understand, practice, and implement. You (and Simon) are very good at that!
Thank you! Try this one for the slice: ua-cam.com/video/xe48HjKAjRo/v-deo.htmlsi=Z4XKLp_SIMB5135l And this one for kick: ua-cam.com/video/mQ82gQwkUtY/v-deo.htmlsi=r6tDbknZKuR1bX6h
A very useful video with some great tips (placement of feet following a line towards the netpost that helps with the toss, smooth and continuous pendulum movement, etc) commented very clearly and in very good English. Thank you very much Alex!
Best serve masterclass video I've seen, ever ! Your insights on how to correct small things during the service motion, will make a definite difference to my game !!
great video, thank you very much. I have shoulder pain from tennis serve. From your videos and others, I noticed that my racket placement at the contact is at 12 o clock rather than 1 or 2. Thats where my shoulder joint and muscle is very tight. I probably need to pay attention more and keep it at 1 or 2. Or in some video they said to keep your ears away from the shoulder. Thanks Alex
Thank you for your lesson on the serve. Your teaching style is perfect and I'm happy I found your Chanel ill go and put those tips into practice thank you 🎾
Good lesson with great tips! I've been trying to get a smoother serve motion for years with the right sequence of moves like you demostrated. Thank you! : )
so many tennis serve instruction videos ask that beginners execute complex moves such as pronation. The tossing arm has to stay straight and high, while the serving arm has to move and whip and pronate. It is very complicated and it is very challenging for a beginner.
@@keyzer380 I am trying - it does take time. I know it is not easy and it does take dedication. The tennis serve is one of the most complex moves and all of sports I hear. So as a beginner myself, I am acknowledging how challenging it can be, but I know we have to put into the work.
Very comprehensive video coach Alex..for me the hardest part is using the continental grip and pronating after hitting the ball..thats why up to this point im using the eartern grip on my serves..i als find it difficult landing on my front foot after the serve 😞
Thanks for the support! Yes the continental grip will take some getting used to but give you much more power and spin potential. To land on the correct foot on your serve work on using the back leg more to push off and then kick back 👍
Are you able to name all 5 mystery servers in this video? Spot them and tell us in the comments below!
Excellent, excellent service lesson!!! And it's free.... I saw 6 servers, not 5: Dimitrov, Federer, Zverev, Monfils, Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios.
Dimitrov, Raonic, Goffin, Djokovic, Kyrgios?
Very good informativ video on the serve. Servers are Dimitrov, Alcaraz, Goffin, Federer and Kyrgios. We also saw Zverev
Player 1: Dimitrov
Player 2: Munar
Player 3: Goffin
Player 4: Verdasco
Player 5: Kyrgios

After watching this and really absorbing it, went out on court and hit absolute bombs.
You fixed my serve. I love you
Glad to hear it!! 💪💪💪
finally you are doing something for beginners instead of some pro level stuff
The power loop has always been a mystery to me, and this video explains how to get it as simply and clearly as any I've seen. Thank you.
It's the best serve instruction I've ever seen. I wish I had seen this when I started out playing tennis.
Many thanks 🙏

Glad to hear you say it, thanks for the support! Tried to put the main concepts that can make the biggest difference in shortest amount of time!
The best explanation ever on how to get in easy understandable steps to serve right. The best video, thx! 🤗
Many thanks 🙏
For beginners this can be a progression lesson, for others- players or pros or to the coaches it is an excellent refresher course, well done Alex.
Many thanks 🙏
This is the first tennis video that helped me understand how to swing with a relaxed arm and generate racquet head speed through momentum.
That’s great to hear 👍
Great video working on my serve after 40 years of just volleying.. feels good to connect .. almost there ..
Keep it up 💪
THANKS FOR SHARING COACH, it helps me alot ❤ I’m from Indonesia 🇮🇩

Tennis serve complexity is probably the one and only reason Padel has become so trendy nowadays.
so many tennis serve instruction videos ask that beginners execute complex moves such as pronation. The tossing arm has to stay straight and high, while the serving arm has to move and whip and pronate. It is very complicated and it is very challenging for a beginner.
@@sunsioux444 how do you want to learn ? Lol
The movement is what it is so you need to do it again and again with feedbacks. There is no shirtcut
