I bought these from the local retailer on a whim a month ago and thought "Meh, they're kinda expensive but let's try 'em out." One of the few things I bought that I thought was a gimmick but actually does a really good job.

Absolutely fantastic! I have read a number of (less than appreciative) comments. All I can say is: "They totally don't get it!" It's not just about how to change a light bulb, it's about how a great guy took his time to spend HOURS videoing (recording) a phenomenal amount of footage, editing, digital splicing, audio management, etc. to put this video together in addition to the research and investigation into the final selection PLUS the before and after results. I VERY much appreciate what you have done. Thanks! I did, however, purchase a different model... 140 watts, 18,500 lumens 6000K daylight (and a pair of sunglasses). Only needed one for the one socket in the ceiling of our house garage... I think it instantly killed all vermin that possibly had taken up residence! LOL Thanks again! -Woodprobie
Thanks for the video. Watched it a few months ago and went out and bought 8 for my 3 car garage but not the brand you have but very similar. They hav3 been sitting in my building since waiting for electrician to come put up boxes and screw in socket. Got tired of waiting and although not an electrician myself after a lot of research did it myself this past weekend. Took me all day bu5 man was it worth it. Lights were simple install wiring took long. I 4 double 4 foot fluorescent tiny lights lights but now nothing I can’t see in the garage. Wife came out after installation and said “this is ridiculous” just what I wanted. Thanks again.
I’ve had these in my garage for a year or so and I LOVE them. It’s almost embarrassing how bright they are. Lol. Many of my neighbors have also upgraded to these.
My house was built in 1969. 2 incandescent light bulbs for the 2 bay garage. VERY DIM!!! Even with 250 watt flood lights. When LED shop lights came out that would work in the New England winters I installed 4 for a much better situation. Then I saw these and realized I still had the original screw sockets hanging around. Added these and just about doubled the intensity! Well recommended.
I just want to say that this video is truly illuminating. I have struggled with lighting issues in the past, your expertise has illuminated different options on my illumination needs.
I ordered this after your recommendation - amazing. We only have one light fixture in our two-car garage, and it was very inadequate. Not being handy like you, and not having access to the space above the garage, we couldn’t add additional fixtures - BUT, just one of these lights has made a world of difference. Thanks for the tip.
I bought some very similar with the 3 wings and put one in my "single car" garage and the difference is incredible. The other went into my half basement and I can see things now that I wish I hadn't, lol. You really should be doing this on a network. You are very good at explaining and doing things with humor too!
I went with the stupid bright and holy cow!!! What a difference in my garage. My garage only has one socket so to get a good coverage of light was difficult. Now I have the sun in my garage, plus an extra sun if I want to go all Tatooine in there.
Hey. I bought the same light!! Received it a few minutes ago. Unboxed it, screwed it into my one overhead socket in the garage and WOW!!! let there be light --lots of it...I can see, said the blind man....thanks for the video.thanks for this great idea.
Im so glad that you finally upgraded your lighting. It was difficult to see you from my car across the street at night with that horrible old lighting. Much appreciated
Golf expert from watching others play no doubt. I'm sure that's how it's done. Unless of course you are one of the few who makes his living "playing" golf or if you have been presented with a green jacket. You're probably a duffer
A property investor I was managing turned me onto these LZ lights four (4) years ago. I bought two for my garage and never looked back. They are great as I am a tinker/ hobbyist/mechix wanna be and I use them almost daily. They still work and I have not replaced them.
A few months back I have added something similar to product shown in video. i dont know how many lumens mine has, but they really brighten up my Garage area. These type of lights are a great product to have and I would also recommend them. Mine were not that expensive from Amazon.
OMG- talk about bloviating. For someone who doesn’t have much time they spent waaaay too long putting this video together. Should have been a 3-4 minute video.
i purchased that same fixture a few months ago. Its amazing the difference it made in my garage. I no longer have to bring a flashlight out to the garage anymore
I had 4 bulb fluorescent lights in my kitchen and changed the bulbs to LEDs and wow what a difference it made. Those lights for your garage are great and yes it’s a cool upgrade and easy to accomplish!
Yeah, I got a different brand on Amazon and it had a motion detector on it. That part didn't really work so I turned it off. The one similar to your light works great with the light switch. Super bright and has been up about a year or more. No issues with the led and illumination. My double garage had 1, yes ONE single bulb fixture like yours. Ridiculously dark with even a 100w bulb.
Was laying around Flippin through youtube and saw this video and I'm ordering some of these today! Thanks for sharing this video I was looking for a lighting option for my little workshop without having to break the bank and this is it
Dont know how I ended up here but I wasnt planning on upgrading my garage lighting since i had recently changed the light bulbs to LED but daym just had to buy this thanks for the video
Thank you very much for this video. I just installed them in my garage. The difference is literally night and day. Not only are they bright, but turn on instantly. Some don't.
I also find it crazy when someone builds a garage and puts two light in it. My garage is about the same size as yours and I had two lights and one outlet. Several year ago (before LEDs) I added florescent lights and this year I wired in some LEDs, BIG improvement. Keep up the good work.
Unless it is a custom built home, the builder is going to cut costs where they can. A few lights in the basement, maybe 2 in the attic, cheap bathroom fan, minimum receptacles just enough to meet code. Anything more eats into profit margins. And for most people, 4 lights in the garage is fine. Enough light to let them see where they are going from the car to the door. Nobody is going to rough in 60 amps of circuits into a garage on a spec house.
I use this type of fixture for a work light in my 74 Challenger restoration project. I went to Harbor Freight and bought a cheap drop light, knocked the metal hood off and screwed this guy in. You can hang it and if you flip one of the fins over it will prop it up and you can position it where needed. Does not get hot and frankly I’ve abused the thing and it is very durable.
We tried these in our garage (two fixtures for a 2 card garage). Picked up some from Costco, or it might have been Home Depot). WOW! The lights are AMAZING. I loved them. However, we have quite a few stairs to come down into our garage. Basically as soon as you opened the door from the house you were blinded by the fixtures. Ugh! We ended up taking them back. The good news is I don't need lights in the garage anymore since I'm now blind. I love the lumens, but I feel they need to be a bit more diffuse for my family. I tend to favor light in the 4k range and agree the CRI is very important for accurate color.
I just installed a pair of the LZHome lights. WOW! Your review is spot on! These things are easy to install and provide so much light. They are amazing! Perfect for my workshop!
I’ve put a couple of those lights in my garage it help a great deal, looking to install a couple more lights later after I’ve remodeled our house. Worth the money I spent on them though.
Good luck with yours. I bought 2 of them with average garage use, and both had sections flicker and die on me after only 1 year. I found out they didn't use ANY thermal paste on the led boards, essentially cooking them to death. $30 down the drain each.
I bought one of these for my basement/crawl space (I live on a hill, so it's fairly large storage area between floors), which had a single light bulb to light up the whole area. I've had mine for two years now and it's working great--lots of light! I can't wait to see how the new/temporary shop comes together!
I have one little bulb to light my entire garage. I had the whole house required with all new lighting but haven’t got to the garage yet but I’m kinda where you were. I need light but temporary until I rewire the garage so I just ordered one. Thanks for the advise.
Normal standard lighting for a garage is one keyless fixture per car bay. So if it's a two car garage you'll get 2 light bulbs and that's it. Builders are cheap AF in Canada
I have 3 in my garage as well and now it's super bright. Disassemble a old lamp for the cord/bulb socket and attach this LED bulb on it for a great spot light.
Heck yes dude. I went a different route with my temporary lighting... 3 years ago... but I also went for the ability to light the neighborhood. There are two downsides: 1) It attracts all the bugs at night. All of them, especially the kinds you don't want. 2) Now all the neighborhood feral cats know when I'm home, and they know I'm a sucker for handing out food and treats.
Your new neighbors are going to absolutely LOVE you.........all that light is going to attract every bug for at least a mile. They can have evening get togethers with their family and friends without the bugs. BTW........in just a weeks time you picked up over 16000 new subscribers pushing you well above that 100000 mark. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
Thanks for the video. You have to very careful when buying these things. I have gotten two of the multi panel lights from Amazon and both of them exaggerated the lumen rating.
Did the same thing with my 3 car. What a change. I had six sockets and love the light spread. Also the ability to adjust where you want to throw the light is a plus.
I bought two of these for my garage. What I didn’t know is that the led panel puts out so much RF energy that it burned out my garage door remote control board. $65.00 for the bulbs and $70.00 for a new circuit board. Fantastic amount of light but poor design.
Really? RF energy from the replacement light fixture is the cause of the circuit board burn out? Having a very serious background in commercial broadcasting where RF output is well understood, designing a number of serious antenna arrays which put out a SIGNIFICANT amount of RF energy than what this light fixture could possibly disperse, I am left in a seriously amused state by your findings!! I think you might want to report your experience to the FCC and Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms! I look forward to reading about it! This light fixture just might be the very secret weapon needed to ward off enemies of the state! (He said, with tongue in cheek). Thanks for making my day! 😀
Nice ... My wife is always complaining about the lighting in her quilting room, I bet 2 of those will brighten it up 🤔 either that or she'll go blind 😂😂😂 (I know blindness isn't funny, I was referring to the brightness of the lights) Thanks for the link on the other lights ..think those will work great in my woodshop, to old & broke down to wrench anymore 😢 ( to all you young bucks - - work smarter not harder, your body will appreciate it later in.life😊👍)

I cant believe I just watched a video about changing light bulbs. lol. Thanks for the review. I have been looking at these on amazon. I think I'll get a couple. **
Travis. Thanks for the lighting tip. We just closed on our new house. As soon as the papers were signed I installed the lights you recommended, and they worked like a charm. I am really please with the quality of the lighting. I may add a third light in the future. Your UA-cam video was on point. Next project to all a 120V and a 220V circuit to my garage. Love your content.
Thanks man! You did all the research I was gonna have to do, clicked the link and purchased! I would try to speed it up though, had a lot of jumping forward but good stuff.
I started using a couple of Y adapters with LED light bulbs in them. I’ve done 4 in a single socket. It puts out way more light for way less money. The led’s use so much less power than a 60 watt or 100 watt bulb that I’m not overloading anything. The also seem less harsh and directional than these type. I bought some last year and returned them as they weren’t as bright as a bunch of led lights and Y’s
My 2 car garage only has 2 fixtures and it was dismal. Just two of them in the garage made a massive difference. They are bright enough to use with the doors open on a sunny day for added useful light.
Installed a similar one yesterday and it did improve the lighting but my only advice to anyone considering to get get one. “Don’t look 👀 to the sun”. My eyes.
The unfortunate thing is that these led lights will fail in a few months. I bought three of different brands (allegedly), and they all failed within a few months. Cool in concept, but QC leaves a lot to be desired.
I bought some inexpensive LED bulbs two years ago. When they started failing after a year, I determined it was the tiny converter chip. They’re really quite cheap to replace.
They’re on sale right now 2 for 49.90 with a 12% off coupon after discount with tax 46.54 thanks man! Definitely got a sub from me glad I watched this instead of buying the first cheap crap that come about. If you can please make a video for lights like this that plug in because I have 2 light bulb fixtures but also have 4 plugs in my ceiling.
Thanks for the bulb recommendation I watched your video after I got some dud bulbs which I’m sending back. Just ordered the ones you recommended I hope they work as well for me
He will probably spend 20 minutes telling you where to by grease before he gets to using it for 5 minutes then spend another 20 minutes patting himself on the back for his effort. conversely you took 1 line.
I put the same lights in both garages. Up front I put two in and they were brighter than the original 4 florescent lights they replaced. In back I put 8 in, as it's a bigger garage. Nice and bright.
It's now 2 years later and zero lights have stopped working. All are still clean lights. And many who know me have asked there I got them from and have bought them for their self.
Thank you for doing the research! I've been interesting in adding one of these lights to my 1-car garage for a while now, but there are just SO many that I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't sure if I'd be making the right choice. Based on the 3 options you provided, I am going to purchase 1 of the LZHOME light fixtures as well :)
i have built a new shop(3600 sq.ft.},and am trying to figure out the lighting, all i know at this point is i do want led.thanks for wearing a mic when you film,a lot of guys just rely on their camera mics and their volume levels are all over the place.
Put some of these in our basement and in the garage nearly two years ago. Didn't really sweat the research too much like I usually do. Paid about what you did per bulb. Installed them and haven't had to give them another thought except, "wow I can see down/out here!"
Sir. Had your video paused while I was speaking with my wife and she asked, "Why is he wearing a shirt that says Porn on it?" The angle of the letters being cut off by bottom of the video window... I laughed, you should too.
I know lighting tech was pretty primitive when your house was built in the 90s but house builders cheap out on everything. Also, the previous owner could have installed brighter incandescents but cheaped out. When I moved 2 1/2 years ago there were 40 watt incandescent bulbs in the bathroom light fixture. Apartment complexes must operate from the same cheapskate book as builders.
That’s actually not true, 10 minutes is the minimum for ads to show up mid-video, but the length of my videos truly have nothing to do with that. I can’t speak for others though
Nice video! Another option are LED corn bulbs. Different lighting pattern than the ones you used as they shine light from a 360 degree array of LED's. A good "Made in USA" company that manufactures these is Hyperikon. They offer a great no-hassle 5 year warranty. They make a 54W LED, E26 corn bulb. It puts out a little less than 7000 lumens. I believe you can be confident that is a real and accurate lumen measurement for these bulbs. I have 5 of these in my basement. With white walls they do a fantastic job. Still going strong after 3 years of daily use.
A little under lit? Lol when that door was opening I thought that only the garage door opener lights were on. That lighting was terrible. Looks 1000x better and makes the space actually usable. Hope the new lights last a while
I am an electrical contractor and you really made changing light bulbs interesting and entertaining. I subscribed.
I changed the video speed x2 and i was able to learn how to light my garage in 5 minutes.
Orrrr just click the amazon link...
That's how I watch every video on youtube
I c what you did.
Funny
LOL
The irony of a 10 minute video for a 5 minute job is not lost on me LOL. I love it. Looking forward to seeing more projects in the new shop!
😂
@@ShopNation how many watts do they use
I believe it’s around 12W per bulb
In his defense, two minutes in a hot attic on a summer afternoon feels like a lifetime.

I upgraded my garage light with this recommended light. Great improvement!
I bought one similar to these for my small one car garage. I got it at the local Big Lots Store for $24. Works fantastic. Amazing lighting!
Thank you for sharing. My plane was to put more light fixtures in my garage all I got is one little fixture and I want more light thanks
I'm disappointed that you didn't have sunglasses on when you revealed the upgraded lights, lol
I just installed a pair of these and they’re incredibly bright. Now I can clearly see how badly I need to clean the garage
Yeah, definitely shows the dirt!
Osha's approved got some chuckles out of me
My 2 car garage only has 2 fixtures and it was dismal. Just two of them in the garage made a massive difference. They are bright enough to use with the doors open on a sunny day for added useful light.
A second before your OSHA Approved 'disclaimer' popped up, I facepalmed your workaround.
But since it's approved, continue on!
The 8ft LED I bought last year and it's been very hot in shop .....between 90- 105 degrees at peak ......12ft ceiling they have not FAILED yet ..
Installed 8 LED from Wal-Mart two years ago. Local temps from 0 to 105 and high humidity. No issues.
Funny thing. I just installed two of these in my garage. Came in the house, started watching UA-cam and this vid came across my feed.🤔
Big brother is always watching bro
Thanks for the bulb recommendation
I watched your video after I got some dud bulbs which I’m sending back.
Just ordered the ones you recommended
I hope they work as well for me
7:25 HIT THAT GARAGE DOOR RAIL (SCREW DRIVE) WITH SOME LUCAS WHITE LITHIUM GREASE.... YOU WILL BE MUCH QUIETER.
He will probably spend 20 minutes telling you where to by grease before he gets to using it for 5 minutes then spend another 20 minutes patting himself on the back for his effort.
conversely you took 1 line.
I just added two of these types of lights to my garage and one to the overhead light outside the door. Huge difference.
5:27 - 🎵Come with me, and you'll see, a world of OSHA Violation 🎵
I put the same lights in both garages. Up front I put two in and they were brighter than the original 4 florescent lights they replaced. In back I put 8 in, as it's a bigger garage. Nice and bright.
It's now 2 years later and zero lights have stopped working. All are still clean lights. And many who know me have asked there I got them from and have bought them for their self.
Thank you for doing the research! I've been interesting in adding one of these lights to my 1-car garage for a while now, but there are just SO many that I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't sure if I'd be making the right choice. Based on the 3 options you provided, I am going to purchase 1 of the LZHOME light fixtures as well :)
how did it turn out, and are they still working well?
I just did the same thing to my 30x40 shop... only 6 LED bulbs and it was a HUGE differnce
I find them light give off lots of interference. Can’t even get the radio stations to come in. They are bright though.
I agree. I put in 2 and am losing signal for most radio station. I am going to try to put an outdoor antenna to see if it makes a difference
Cambium Guy you can get things to put over the wires going to the lights to block the interference.
people still listen to Radio stations? just blue tooth Pandora from your phone?

i have built a new shop(3600 sq.ft.},and am trying to figure out the lighting, all i know at this point is i do want led.thanks for wearing a mic when you film,a lot of guys just rely on their camera mics and their volume levels are all over the place.
Wow! outstanding.
Chinese made has some quality lights, especially Led, just hard to distinguish the junk and good, so much fake review on amazon.
go to youtube reviews you will find honest reviews of a light, over china/amazon reviews
Oh wow that’s great 😁
I have fitted similar lights, they are fantastic.. this is the best design.
It's like the doors opening on the MOTHER SHIP!
😂
closing on my 1st and forever home looking forward to learning from you to build my 1st detail shop
Haha
Travis, your sense of humor is great. "It's July when I'm shooting this" while you glace at your watch. It's the little things. Oh, and nice lights.
I just sat through a 10 minute video on how to change a light bulb because the guy was hot. I need to get out more!
I picked one up and what a great upgrade to lighting without having to add more fixtures.
thanks
Guy takes 10 minutes to explain how adding a bunch of lights to his garage results in added light.
Ten minutes is the minimum for UA-cam to pay you for ads. This is why this video is 10:02 and so many others.
That’s actually not true, 10 minutes is the minimum for ads to show up mid-video, but the length of my videos truly have nothing to do with that. I can’t speak for others though
@@ShopNation I call bullshit. Good video nonetheless
10 minute video for a 5 minute upgrade?
A little under lit? Lol when that door was opening I thought that only the garage door opener lights were on. That lighting was terrible. Looks 1000x better and makes the space actually usable. Hope the new lights last a while
