I held it in until the "Lol" screen change. 🤣
a personal fav of mine. hahahaha
@Xochitl Valdez i feel the exact same, maybe a video would help?
@Xochitl Valdez I feel you, I want to get back into drawing too! One thing that I've found helpful is making fan art of something you love- your favorite movie, cartoon, etc. Also, don't let your well of inspiration run dry. Surround yourself with art that excites you! (Just watch Spider Verse, literally every frame is a masterpiece!) Hope this helps!
Xochitl Valdez why not listen to your parents? You might consider that they want the best for you! I have taken breaks now and then over the years, it is a way to recharge your self. I say take a short break and come back and work on a subject that you love! Fan-Art or even a character from a book! You can even try a video game, if your into that. Good luck!
Xochitl Valdez You’re not broken but you might be in a slump, the only way to get out of a slump is to keep swinging or drawing in this case sometimes even painting can get you out of the slump. All you can do is never give up no matter how many bad drawings/paintings you do. Keep doing keep creating and eventually you’ll start liking them again. Also like I said create something you love or work on something you love a favorite comic a favorite TV show or a video game something you love. Hang in there and don’t give up!

lol, I wonder what they put in it to make it dangerous? Walnut oil is normally edible. It also makes a nice satin finish on wood. But it never occurred to me that it could be used in paint :) Now I want to try grinding some pigment in it and see if I can make oil paints that wash off the brush with soapy water instead of solvent.
@iz r Ah, that's right. I think they can even spontaneously combust if you pile a bunch of crumpled up oily paper towels in a trash can, because the drying reaction produces heat.
dekutree64, that seems.. problematic-

I just saw a similar comment from you on another DWW (drawing wiff waffles) video

Violet Fantasy Art ok cool
@@drawingwiffwaffles fun fact! Flat brushes with rounded tips are called filberts!
Ok so big thought: slow drying time makes oil paint great for people who like sketching because it never is too late to go back and rework stuff 🤔
thats what I'm learning! honestly these paints are slowly winning me over
@@drawingwiffwaffles Yes. Come over to the oil painting side. We have mediums galore.
That is great but also you have to battle your "too much gene" (Jenna Marbles) and know when to stop playing around before you ruin it 😂
I work mainly with acrylic and the fact that it dries so fast really gets on my nerves
@@nokodishiko1916 I'm an acrylic artist too! I recommend looking for some blending gel. I've tried several brands and my favorite is the Plaid brand. Least favorite is Liquitex slow dry.
But here's the thing: spread the gel on the surface you're painting on instead of mixing in the paint on the palette. This will extend the dry time with less overall effect on the consistency of the paint. I like to basecoat in standard acrylic, let dry, then apply extender/blending medium where I'm working.
Me: Doesn’t have any paints at all, much less walnut oil.
Also me: Still sprints to get my sketchbook cause I need my daily dose of Drawing wiff Waffles.
we don't all draw with the same art supplies!! glad you could create along! 💜

When oil painting remember this:
THIN to FAT
*DARK* to LIGHT
Ugh yes! The strain of oil paints: drying time.
i painted this 24 hours ago. and I can say this stuff is drying way faster than whatever I used previously. maybe I put on thinner layers? i dunno. but I'm actually kind of getting used to how oil works and I don't hate it anymore
@@drawingwiffwaffles I don't have the patience lol but It's good you're starting to enjoy it! :)
DrawingWiffWaffles walnut oil Is actually an extender, and typically dries slower than linseed oil. However, titanium white is a fast drying pigment so mixtures with a lot of titanium white will dry faster.
The other major thing you’re missing is Gamsol or other odorless mineral spirits. When you saw someone mix a mid tone and stain the canvas that was by adding some paint to some gamsol and rubbing it over the canvas with a brush or a paper towel. Super lean mixtures of only gamsol will dry in 10 minutes.
I love how the smaller painting turned out!
thanks! i do too! hehe 💜
Whenever I draw with something new I use my favorite OC because at this 5 year point I doubt she cares if I accidentally smudge her face when I decide to use charcoal.
I can’t wait for the holidays my parents are going to get me a scrawlrbox and then subscription and then I’ll be able to draw along with you for scrawlrbox videos
that'll be so exciting!!
Both paintings are so neat! I really love the painterly messy look.

rin: It's finally getting somewhere!
Waffles - “the handle of this knife looks like someone chewed on it.”
Me - oh that was probably me, I just love the taste of PALLET KNIVES
THIS. This is the video I've been waiting for. 😭 I've gotten back into my art lately and I've picked up oil painting. There's so much that goes into it! The Walnut oil is a medium used to increase the amount of time the paint will be wet before drying. The solvent that you keep mentioning is actually paint thinner, Rin. Paint thinner is where the caution is! However, if you're in a well ventilated area, you'll be fine as long as you don't huff the fumes. 😂 Also, it wasn't medium mixed with oil paints that made the background like you thought, Rin. It was paint thinner mixed with the paint to make it super thin to create that background hue and to help the colors blend even more effortlessly!
1:13 I find it so funny to hear you speak in a British accent,I’m British by the way 🧐☕️
sorry to offend you. lol 💜
DrawingWiffWaffles 💜:D
Me too, it does make me laugh because in reality I don't think anyone actually speaks like that - it's more East End bar brawl than painting portraits here 😂😂
I think the character’s emotion that she’s drawing affects her mood. The first one that she was doing (happy) she was so excited. The second one she seemed more anxious about her painting.
The fact that you gasped as my mom spilled cereal on the counter...lol
it's like I'm there. XP haha
XD
I honestly love the last painting even though you think it's pretty "sad". I think shes so pretty and I love how you made her eyes look more dopey, it's definitely a different face style than you normally draw/paint and I think shes super cute! She looks like shes thinking about something deeply.
When she was drawing on the canvas it reminds me of her drawing on her sketchbook
She uses her kneaded eraser in many ways
Waffles: It keeps spreading!
The oils: Start spreading the news
When you get a pallet knife and still blend with the brush lol

Hey waffles could you do an anatomy tutorial I struggle alot
I have a video where I explain how to learn to draw something, that might be helpful. ua-cam.com/video/2bgwKY_xAEA/v-deo.html
There's a series on the Critical Role channel called 'pub draw' with Babbs Tar who goes pretty in-depth on anatomy, totally recommend it as she's a great artist and it's gotten me into drawing! It starts with faces and then she starts talking about bodies, proportions, muscles etc.
Me: ‘sees title’ UH OH... WALNUTS!!!!!!!
Me in 10 years: **paints with something I’m allergic to**
And yes I’m allergic to ALL TYPES OF NUTS
sorry! you'd probably want to avoid this then
I don't know how it works with paints but a lot of people use other types of oils to blend coloured pencils (my preferred medium) such as baby oil or even (clean) vegetable/olive/sunflower oil from the kitchen. Personally I found it too greasy for my tastes and use odourless mineral spirits such as Gamsol to blend with but I imagine it would be a lot less so with paint.
I legit get so happy when you update. I love you and your art Rin! Never stop drawing

I love seeing your process of figuring out how to work with new mediums :) I like how positive you are towards new experiences. If anyone wants an easily digestible introduction to oil painting I really recommend S2E3 of PubDraw, it'll show you the basics but it's also pretty casual. I feel like it matches the tone of Rin's content. It has a bit more swearing and adult conversation topics though.

So everytimes i came in youtube and saw your yt videos. The fact that you sketch a bunch of things and it cames like very easy. It's inspired me a lot. And after one of your video i feel reconciled with drawing and start sketching a lot (a bit too much :D). But anyway your videos are so chill and very inspiring that it helps me a lot for my studies. thanks for your hard working on thoose sketches and videos 😀.
