I am a military veteran and used a multimeter to test electronic components. When I bought my first house, many of the appliances were older. I would just scratch my head and hope I bought the right part to fix it.
Then with the inventions of personal computers, tablets, cellphones and smaller solid state multimeters, I again started using the trusty multimeter, it was the best purchase I ever made. It doesn't need to be an expensive purchase, just one that measures the desired readings.
The continuity test is the best way to find bad parts.
The parts can either be open or shorted out, so the normally open or normally closed test would also be a great test.
Thanks for the videos and instructions, especially Steve.

A good teacher. I appreciate how you classified the components so that can understand when to use resistance versus voltage as a first test. Very helpful video. Time to go fix some stuff.

I'm a newbie to electronics. So, for troubleshooting and repair of home appliances, the basic functions of multimeter is enough, like resistance, voltage, Ac/ Dc current, continuity/diode test. Did I get it right ?
Capacitance, frequency, temperature functions is not so important ?
And, how is it important to have a milliamps check ?
    Thank you for your videos

You made this video in 2020, why would you use an analog multimeter?

I once saw this man craft a multimeter out of a porcupine quill, some rock salt, and a handful of Jolly Rancher wrappers. Skills that would make MacGyver swoon.

Near the end, he's displaying how to test capacitance and the analog meter is a better way to demonstrate how to check a capacitor.
