I’m from the valley but don’t know to many spots. I know a couple in Santa Rosa, Mercedes but that’s it. I looked on the map but most could be on private land. I wish I knew someone with property close to a good canal. I would keep a spot cut and a put a table out there just for fishing.
there's a quite a few of hwy 281, check out google maps and the ones that connect to the river pumps on the rio grand are the good ones. thanks for watching and good luck
i’ve been trying to get into fishing but i just don’t know what to use or where to fish. i’ve tried a couple spots but i haven’t had any luck. i would like to fish for bass or just anything at this point. any recommendations?
What are you using, artificial baits? If you know how to use a cast net, try catching some small Shad. Put them on a floater/bobber rig and you may catch some bass that way. You can also try the worms they sell at Walmart, catfish will hit that too. Great fish to start off with is the freshwater channel catfish. You can catch them on pretty much anything with a double drop rig. Hot dogs, bread, corn, shrimp, chicken liver. Bass are trickier cause they are more predator fish and won't really bite bait that's cut (doesn't mean they can't), but they're more likely to go after a moving bait, like a 3" swimbait, crank baits, spinner baits, worms, etc. I don't have it all figured out yet, but my best luck has been swim baits. I'll try to make a video soon of what I recommend and what I've learned from the local bodies of water. Thanks for watching 🤙
