I made the Hyper X Cloud II purchase earlier this week after watching two UA-cam videos (including this one) and read reviews, and it couldn’t have been a better or more satisfying purchase. So, it’s still good in 2022. Note that I have and use it for a HP Omen gaming laptop and upgraded from the HP Omen headset that was failing me lately with static noise on the side of listeners on discord. This headset sounds great to listen from and talk through for both Discord and Zoom. Reserve the 7.1 Surround Sound for watching videos only, and turn off for gaming. I’ve never heard sound… sound so good from my laptop. This was definitely an upgrade. One more note, I use glasses and is comfortable. Thanks!

Its no real surround, just stereo plus some technik that fiddles arround with the sound to make it sound like surround, but does more bad than good.
7.1 surround (not real, its just virtual) just sounds nice for advertisement but is bad for gaming.

This is an excellent headset from sound to durability. I've dropped it many times and it seems like I didn't drop it at all. The microphone is really good for a headset. I use the fabric cuffs. I don't use the 7.1 surround sound as it sounds interesting, but artificial to me.
didnt like the 7.1 but i do agree it is so durable( i accidentally tripped and my headset got bashed on the door and it still good as it when it was new 😂)
Hello there, can u rate it's sound quality ? I have the Cloud stinger at the moment and I'm thinking of purchasing this Cloud II, now the Cloud stinger for me is perfect, I can sound really good in games and stuff, but still I feel like the volume is a bit low, like when someone talks in the same room I can still hear him but very softly, I want a headset that isolates sound, is this Cloud II worth the buy ? please help a friend with your opinion, thank you and have a good day!
I agree, the 7.1 is more for a movie if you want to feel like you are kinda inside of the theater

I've been using this headset for over four years now, and it still works great. Leather ear cups however wore off around two years ago due to use over time, in which I use the velour ear cups now. They're okay, but they can get uncomfortable over prolonged headset wear. Sound quality is as incredible as ever from when I first used it, which is amazing. It was a hottie getting this for $99 back in 2016, but now with new releases and tech improvements with gaming headsets, I'd say look onto the newer ones when considering buying at retail price. Like the HyperX Cloud Alpha or the Steelseries Arctis series. But generally over the last four years I've been using this headset, it is indeed an incredible one. Just watch out over the leather components of the Cloud 2's, as they can wear off over a year or two with frequent use under insufficient care and cleaning.
I dont know what to buy. Hyperx cloud 2 or Hyperx cloud alpha. Alot of people say the alphas are uncomfortable idk what to get. But they also say (some of them) with the upgraded pads they made its better. I just dont know what to get.
Yes i have the exact same headset, when the original cups wear out im gonna buy the exact ones again because they have treated me well. Never had a problem with the cups.

First, I don't believe you mentioned that the 7.1 surround only works on pc and I believe PS. If you are an xbox user you don't get that 7.1 surround sound. Microsoft has their own surround sound program built into xbox. Question though, am I right in saying if you are using it on xbox you don't have a volume control on the cord or headset itself? The one shown only works if you plug it into a USB and that won't work on xbox. You would need to buy the Xbox controller attachment that controls volume and mute. Right?
Planning on get this one for Xbox Series X. Now that we have Dolby Sound, is there a way for me to use with this headset? I was reading and i think it only works via USB or optical. How can i make this headset work with that?

@@Olivotec works on my series x controller, the headphone port on your controller must be bust. The Dolby sound doesn’t work through the headset it’s self but their is a Dolby sound app on Xbox which I use, it sounds great, always have it on when watching films and tvshows etc

OK so I have these headphones for over 3 years and it has never let me down. I use it for everything, playstation gaming, music on my computer, movies, using it for work(meetings, calls). I rolled over it with an office chair, dropped it, stepped on it, sat on it, poured liquids over it, yanked the cable out of devices, travelled with it. I'm using it everyday, it still works perfectly. All I can say is its probably the best piece of technology I've ever owned, absolutely recommended.

@@XYZ-ql1fi people diss on the 7.1 virtual surround sound which can be toggled, and not the actual sound of the headphones themselves. u can hear everything fine and they work for music well enough too considering they're "gaming" headsets

I got the first cloud and it’s amazing, I’ve had it for 2 years now and it’s still working great. I do have problems talking to my team in games but I’m pretty sure that’s the games issue because one day it will work and the next it won’t.
I love how the wire that connects into the headset can be unplugged. Have had countless times where I step on the cord and it rips out of the headset and then it’s broken, same as the mic part where it can plug in and be plugged out. Its extremely comfy and sounds great, and I’ve had people tell me my mic is always louder than everyone. Like in rust where your team is yelling and no one can hear each other I can talk and be louder than anyone. There’s only mute, and an volume up and down volume which is small but it’s no big deal. I’ve dropped it countless times and nothing has broke, I love the material it’s made of. Just a great headset

The controls will work on the ps4 if you upgrade its firmware from 0030 to 0010. Also it will fix the low volume problem.

Did it come with a cap/cover for the detachable mic plug? I bought one a couple years back and it came with one. Time skip to now, its broken and I bought a new one but this time it did not come with a cap for the plug.
Mine didn't, just leave it plugged into microphone port on your pc i guess?
Honestly I have both the Sony Pulse 3D (PS5) headset and the Hyper X Cloud 2. I prefer the Hyper X. It's more comfortable after hours of gameplay, and my friends have told me it's mic sounds better

Got the 2022 version: a few minor aesthetics changes , the writing on the head band , hyperx logo is no longer illuminated , no splitter and no mic slot cover , no transport bag , they seem lighter when compared with the 2015 version.
Is this in-line mute and volume controller also working with mac computers? And how is it fo listening music? Can it be loud? (I don't like music to be really soft and far-away sounding..)
it doesnt only work for pc it also works on ps4 if you plug in the control box into a port on your playstation

Hi I bought the Hyper X Alpha and I could not get the software with the equalizer to download, for some reason this download had to come though Microsoft and I don;t have a Microsoft account. Do you know how I can get the software?
idk if its just me but coming from astro a40s with a mixamp. it just seems like the sounds from this headset are more amplified than the a40s making things really loud and exaggerated. ( no i dont have the surround sound setting turned on)
Hyper X cloud 2’s regularly go on sale for 60-70 dollars. These are the only headphones ive ever owned. 2 pairs in ten years and I treat them like absolute garbage

So sometimes I play fortnite, I mostly okay valorant, but when I'm playing if I turn on 3d headphones with these could I hear above and below me? Because I'm not sure what the difference is between 7.1, stereo, and 3d audio and the like.
@@DarKKBeast holy sh*t late response indeed. But decided to go with the mh650 cooler master. I absolutely love it when I play generation zero. (An intense survival open-world game against robots)
@@DarKKBeast huh ok. The mh650 cooler master has worked for me, it's a USB plug so it's easy to put in computers and laptops, it's got a detachable mic that bends but only when you want it, great sound quality and super comfortable.

You probably already made the choice but the Cloud 2 still has superior sound. It's consistently ranked higher and way cheaper. I just got one for 50 bucks.

I still use the Cloud I , had Cloud II , best headsets for the bucks . The only problem with them in almost 10 years is that the jack port work just in 2 pins and the microphone has problems ; Unfortunately you can't find the Cloud II sound 7.1 and a new mic just the fake leather.
Had mine less than a year, the audio has started crackling. Seems like the 7.1 surround sound card has gone toast.

@@videorol93 I got it yes. It was a weird fix but every time I hear something from one side only, I change the volume on the cable connected to my headphone and then the sound is back on both sides.

I have no hearing issues and see no complaints with volume problems even when its plugged in the controller. Check your internet connection. If you have higher internet speed maybe it'll help your ps4 Bluetooth signal. Then again I use a 2018 ps4 slim.

Yes the inline control has it all. Volume for both mic and speaker. Also mic mute

7.1 works great with my ps4. Just plug it into the control port. Big difference you can really hear.

I think i already had 4 pairs, and 4th is already broken after 10 months of using. The sound quality is great for me BUT quality of materials is not. Ear cups will peel after some time, probably just after warranty is over. Same with soundcard, it can die, last of them my right ear just died. when I bought my first Hyperx Could II i got a nice package with barely any plastic in it, with big carton box, everything felt premium. The last i bought had plastic, you could barely fit them into the box. I wish i could find similiar sound quality headset for that money with better materials, so they would not break in 2 years, but right now i cannot find anything...

*the 7.1 is for watching movies to bring out the background noise more and increase soundstage to make it sound like you are in the movie, but for game always turn that off because it will fk with your positioning*

Really good headset, and yes the virtual surround work on PS4 through firmware update. Once this is on you will notice the difference

The newer HyperX Cloud II in my opinion has changed. It appears after HP acquired the company - they cut down the costs in areas they shouldn't have. This stellar review does not apply to the new HyperX anymore in my opinion.

Idk the arctis 1 lool nice but I have the clod 2's and oh man I love them. The construction is very very sturdy saw a lot of people saying that they dropped/threw them like 20 times and they are completly fine and I can confirm they are built like tanks whereas the arctis 1's look kind of flimsy. The 7.1 soround sound is definitly worth it it's awesome in games and you can really feel the difference when you turn it on. Overall I really love everything about them and if I could go back in time I would make the same choice 100% no regrets everyone says it's the best headset for the price and I whole heartedly agree, hope this helps.
Btw wired always beats wireless by a lot and the cloud 2's sound great. The mic is good too .

They are really good, i has Mezze 99c audiophile headphones and hyperx cloud 2 are more comfortable and the sound is really good even coming from Mezze 99c for 300 eur!

Just ordered a pair on Amazon... hopefully they’re decent. I have a 4 year old pair of Razer Krakens and they’re starting to fall apart. The sound is incredibly loud on them but they don’t have hardware based surround sound and the audio, while extremely loud, isn’t the best quality. I hope these are good. But if not, Amazon has a great return policy so if they’re not up to snuff I’ll return them and try the Alpha or the newer upgraded 50mm Krakens. I really want the JBL Quantum headset but $250 is a little steep lol

@@Shaliiim I had the kraken x and after 5 months they have stopped working, they are comfy and decent but out of the blue they stopped, I’ve had many people look at them and they are just broken :(
