As a film fan and someone who loves history, it’s pretty phenomenal that two of the biggest and most well received films of the year 2023 were period pieces about the creation of and the consequences of the atomic bomb. It gives me hope, honestly, like this is the kind of thing that I love movies for, as silly as it kind of is.
Tru 2023 was mostly pretty lackluster in terms of movies imo but I loved Oppenheimer & Minus One & they leave me at least moderately hopeful for the future of cinema & pop culture
But don't forget Barbie Movie. I know it isn't nuclear force story but it still had great pop culture in it like how often do we get stories of toy trying to become human

In my opinion, Toho should film "Honda" as a spiritual sequel to Oppenheimer, talking about Ishiro's life and how he witnessed firsthand the consequences of the SWW and the nuclear tests whose trauma would lead him to create and direct Gojira.
This would be one of the most out of pocket, yet incredibly hype and odly fitting endings to ever be made for a movie. Imagine if this edit was put in certain versions of the film just to make people be confused about why some people said Oppenheimer ended with Godzilla. 10/10 would be one of the best things Hollywood could do.

This is the greatest edit of Godzilla Minus One and Oppenheimer I've ever seen, and the cherry on top is the fact you used "Divine" from the actual movie. Bravo.

When Oppenheimer said "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds." he meant that it was his duty by God to create the atomic bomb. But, I find the misinterpretation to be far more accurate.
The "i am become death" speech Oppenheimer gave was also part of the original comic con trailer for what became Godzilla 2014. Lends even more credence to the idea i suppose.
I feel like Oppenheimer would both love and be terrified of the old Godzilla movies, not only because it's a masterpiece that captures the power and devastation of the monster but it's also an apt description of the horror he has unleashed in the world in the form of said monster

I think this highlights, and it's something I take comfort in, that despite the extra-ordinary people who created the atom-bomb and unwittingly set off the nuclear arms race, it was the ordinary people in Godzilla Minus One, who even if they didn't completely eradicate the threat, pushed it back with ordinary means and basically stated "Not Today, Not Yet, Not While We Can Still Push Back."
