    I discovered this elbow move in another video talking about Hogan's elbow. I tried it and was blown away. My swing is totally changed now and I hit way more consistent and solid than ever, at least off my practice mat into a net. This one elbow move fixed so many things for me like weight shift, release power. I feel like I have a powerful compact repeatable swing at this point. Be interesting to see what happens on the golf course this year, a true test. I think it will work but I've had that feeling many times before and was disappointed. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm glad I stumbled on this video cos it reinforces what I've been doing and also is a better explanation as to why it works. Excellent channel.

    Also, during the downswing Moe Norman and Ben Hogan had the lead arm way higher than the lag arm which aided the lag elbow to keep in a bent throwing position right up to impact!

    I love Trevino, a lot of how I swing I got from him. I started doing this 140 yards and in keeping my right elbow more connect to my body so much easier finding the ball, more consistent, holds up under pressure and much easier to get shaft lean at impact which was huge for me, when I needed to get more out of a club which was not often I would just lift my elbow a little bit at the top and quickly reconnect to my body on the down swing or just club up and stay connected. It’s amazing how much this help me. Thanks for video

    I have been working on this before I saw your video, completely agree. Hogan would describe space between the elbow and the body as “poison.” The reason is that space between the body and the elbow creates difficulty in duplication and under the pressure of a close golf tournament you must be able to easily duplicate the golf swing. Hogan was certainly the author of this elbow technique but from a visual swing thought I like Trevino.

    Chris this is fantastic. I haven't been able to practice this method yet, but taking practice swings in my house I can feel myself swinging inside to out with the club head passing the same spot consistently. Can't wait to try at the range this weekend.
    Would this same elbow move be used with Driver, or is there any additional adjustments to make?

    This will help! Thank you, Chris! I went back and checked my notes from last summer when I started to try and change to a swing more like Mr. Hogan’s. Here was the second entry on my list…
    2. Flat swing behind right shoulder. SHORT backswing. I say again, SHORT, SHORTER, SHORTEST FUCKING BACKSWING! Do not let right elbow lose contact with right side of rib cage!
    Thank you for the reminder👍🏻

      Is it working. I do this but still manage to do something funky at the bottom of the swing where I come so unglued that there's wreckage all over the fairway more grusome than Swede Savage in turn 4 at Indy.

    • @hudedwards8943
      @hudedwards8943 9 місяців тому

      I think there is one thing Chris may not have mentioned, but I could be wrong. Mr. Hogan’s lie angles on his clubs were very flat, like 6-8° flat. The modern clubs aren’t made like that, in fact some are significantly made the other way, they can be upright at -4°. That’s a huge difference. To help fight this, I stand a little further from the ball and bend my torso down from my waist a little more than Mr. Hogan. It gives a little more room and help get the face square. Hope that helps!

    Hey Chris, I’m struggling with this. I’m not sure if I’m not rotating enough, but I feel like I get lifted at the top of my elbow starts to fly a little. When I try to keep it stuck to my side, I feel just that, stuck. Can you do a video on how to keep that elbow close and what the keys are. Is it the take away? Is it rotation? Thank you so much for your videos.

    Spot on . And teachers are preaching a high hands bubba Johnson backswing . With flying right elbow. It’s like they introduce another plane to amateurs. You have to re route the club like a club champion not to bring it in steep with a high flying elbow like John Daly or bubba Watson. Never made any sense to me why they promote that to guys who don’t have 8 plus hours a day to work on their swing
    Well done Chris

    Those top 4 ball strikers were from back in the day & they are still better than the guys today, even with their shitty clubs, balls, & course conditions. Absolutely amazing. Why aren't the guys on tour today better ball strikers than those top 4 players you mentioned? They've got everything at their disposal, technology, science etc.

    • @NoMoreSecrets.BenHogan

      It's just most of the guys on tour grew up listening to what I call the 80's and 90's teachers or philosophy's that have still around until today. There has been some improvement in their technique but their movements and patterns are very difficult for recreational players.. Entirely different swing concepts.
