    Golf has always been subject to technology. Tech advances have always lowered scores. The U.S. Open is the national golf championship of the USA. It is the oldest golf competition in America.& It's played every year in June on a different course. NOTE: Players were not allowed to clean the ball on the green until 1960. Now consider the following: From 1934 to 1961 Ben Hogan played in 21 U.S. Opens & finished with a 72 hole score under 290 in 15 of them including the 1942 Hale America National Open (substitute for the cancelled US Open due to WW2) for a .714% & won 5X. From 1960 to 1986 Jack Nicklaus played in 27 Opens & finished under 290 in 18 of them for a .667% & won 4X. From 1997 to 2020 Tiger Woods played in 20 Opens & finished under 290 in 13 of them for a .650% & won 3X. It must also be noted that Hogan finished top 10 in 16 straight U.S. Open attempts (1940-60) & the next highest streak is still 7.

    Thanks Chris, you give the best explanation and correction to over the top on the internet...ps...can you do a follow-up video on what the bottom half of the body is doing please. ps like many my left knee moves toward the ball too much on the backswing messing up my swing plane on the way back and on the downswing...CHEERS!

    Thinking about "getting the right shoulder moving", I totally forget about the hands and don't try to manipulate (the hands and arm). Very good "trick" feel.

    What a great drill! Very simple but gives great feedback for shallowing the club and turning. This has helped me immensely, so keep up the good work.

    I don’t understand why an amateur with a normal swing speed would roll the clubface open, that seems to have been an adjustment only for Hogan’s incredible swing speed

    Having trouble getting to flat left wrist at impact from the cupped position at top. Feels better at top cupped but I’m still flipping at impact. Lack of “spiraling”? Any drills?

    then at what point do we begin spiraling? I thought hogan started rolling the club open immediately.

    Good afternoon Chris, I’m really enjoying your videos. But just to be clear on the forward bend, I understand the 30° forward and the 60° relation to the ground which forms the 90. But do you keep the 30° forward bend for all of your clubs? I’ve always changed how steep or vertical I stood based on the length of the club. If I’m understanding you correctly, I should maintain the 30° forward bend and just change my position forward and backwards in relation to the ball. Am I getting this correctly?

  • @devonshire56
    @devonshire56 8 днів тому

    Sorry Chris your credibility and instruction is difficult to accept when you can't demonstrate it at the range on grass. If your honest and do try your roll-over wrist swing your timing would have to be dead-on with every swing and that is impossible. Also, your cupped wrist at the top is NOT what every pro is working on, in fact just the opposite. As a golfer your whole presentation in the weird booth overlooking what the River is just out of place, maybe try your backyard with a net. At least we golfers could relate a little more. Someone said "snake-oil" and I'm afraid I have to agree. I wish Mr. Hogan was still alive to set you straight on his swing.

    I tried to swing round and my ball striking wasn’t solid soon as I visualised the 90 angle on floor my ball striking went off the charts I was hitting 9 iron 150. Try it guys it helps get open at impact and this gives the club inside to square to inside path your looking for.

    Chris....appreciate the videos. I am 52 years old with low back problems. It appears to me this flatter, rotating swing is beneficial for people with low back issues? Curious on your thoughts why so many young talented PGA tour pros have low back issues so early in their careers....think Jason Day, Zalatoris, Jay Berger and many others I'm sure. Jim Hardy's One Plane swing sounds familiar to this except he talks about a "throw" release with the right hand as rotating....thanks!

    A Great interpretation of Hogan’s swing, I have Hogan’s book, but is hard to understand it. I have weak hands and wrists. So this works great. Do you have any strengthening drills to for this swing ? Dumb bells, Bands ? I want it to in grain it in my swing. Thanks for sharing.

    Interesting. Supporting your point, Mr. Trevino did not believe in approaching the golf ball from straight down the line. He always approached it and his target from the right or left (perhaps 7.5 degrees). This might be why Mr. Watson referred to a perfectly straight shot as a total accident. My straightest shots seem to occur when I feel like I am rotating my body and swinging out to the right simultaneously. I hope that I interpreted your message accurately. Thanks Chris.

    You present a lot of esoteric information but I have two critiques. One: Hogan moved laterally much more than you are teaching; your position at impact is much more reminiscient of Gankas' teaching than Hogan's swing IMO. Hogan moved laterally probably 6" while you show almost no forward movement. Snead is more exemplary of your motion, another great swing but different from the one you are attemping to model. Two: 7.5 ?! Really!! This is 12:01 and 15 seconds on a clock. How did you ever ascertain this number and how could anyone ever replicate such a precise amount of outward swing?

    Yeah after 30 yrs of huge slices i recently started trying to,learn a “more proper” swing.. hogans book (5 lessons ) along with some youtube teachers have me now on the right swing path (mostly …its a work in progress) ….wish i had more than tips from people i played with,who are as bad as iam btw, back then .if i had youtube when i started id be a scratchgolfer today….ok ,thats a wild guess at a fantasy regret getting fulfilled ….but id definitely at least have a much lower handicap ✌️
