The banshee was always known as a drag racer and hill climber, that’s why it was never really raced in mx, still an awesome bike and fun to ride though
Banshee's are for the dunes, they never change the suspension since the 80s. Despite that the unique sound, the timeless look.. is just the most iconic ATV.
i think smaller carbs is gonna help on the power curve on the banshee.. smaller carb = faster air velocity = earlier on the pipe, u might lose a slight top end power but the powercurve will be so much more friendly... just a thought
thats great!! this video is basically bang on to the feeling of both bikes. i hated jumping my banshee was a pain in the ass. never had a chance to jump my R tho but by the looks im in for a good time.
The first 2 tests were invalid due to the Honda had elka shocks, and aftermarket suspension parts meanwhile the Yamaha is stock suspension, upgrade the Yamaha to those components or put the stock suspension on the Honda, make it more fair, good content dudes
Before even watching I can say hands down the 250r. I have ridden both in many situations and the 250r handles better than a banshee. Most manufacturers didn't copy it's frame dimensions for nothing.
Yo Mike really enjoy watching your tube channel. Everything is awesome. Keep it up bro can't wait for the next video. That's why I always watch your channel and also stupid fast also. Aloha from HAWAII 🤙🤙🤙
I've owned both and deff the R all day for this stuff. Especially jumping. I used get big air on my stock chassis, modded motor 250r and it still was cush compared to my buddies stock chassis modded motor 87 shee!!!! Sweet vid tho, love watches your bikes rip around man!!! So sick that u rip up $20k and don't just have them as trailer queens lol
Jumps are easy when you hit them at a steady throttle. You can’t blip off of a jump consistently with a 2-stroke unless you’re a pro level rider. You could get a lot more distance off of that jump. It’s a jump that’s going to throw you for distance rather than sending you high. And land on the back tires first so the suspension doesn’t bottom out. I’m jealous I wasn’t there to hit it!
Definitely need to broaden the range in these challenges. That or get some other riders involved. Some A class guys to give some of the feedback as well.
@@MichaelSabo that makes sense. Either way still great content and love watching especially anything 2 stroke. I am currently doing a full ground up build on my banshee and keep going through your old videos for tips and ideas. Here in Australia it's very expensive though and has cost me over 20k in parts
@@MichaelSabo I will send you some pictures when its done. Because of your banshee build I swapped over from bikes to quads and have had a lot of inspiration from your build
I bet if you stiffened that rear shock up a little it would slide out a little more giving you less of that jumping up feeling, did it on mine and it helped a lot, don’t go too stiff or you won’t have grip on the straights.
When you did the predator build, did you have any issue with the decompression mechanism on the exhaust cam? I have an 06 predator and from what I've read that mechanism seems to be a weak point with the motor.
My 88 trx250r is the best quad I've ever rode, smooth, quick just perfect Elka stage 3 suspension, Laeger A arms and full Paul Turner exhaust. The R is the greatest machine ever built. I've rode everything from the Zilla to the 300 wild hp HONDA RACING
Now do the same test at the Oregon dunes! I'll give you a loner Shee. Set up with Elka suspension and a 4 mil. The stock ride on a banshee is not good at all but when set up right it's tough to beat.
250R my choice all day long, grew up with them & never really cared for the banshee, they are a cult thing plus banshees are a dunes / drag not trails. just my opinion.
Awsome content but new the R was gonna come out on top specially in the woods. What I would love to watch is the ur Suzuki vs the honda thats would be very interesting. I know the honda will probably win that one as well but by how much. Thanks for sharing
The stability of the trx250r has always been far superior to everything. My favourite part of biking is when all my friends are slowing down for driveways going across the trail because it’s to rough for their bikes, meanwhile I’m at the front and don’t let off the throttle on the trx250r, jump one side of the driveway and land on the other!
Lone star used to make an R style chassis to fit a banshee engine in. Roll design also offered one as well. It was pricey - basically had to canabilize an R and a banshee. 250R's were not cheap and very hard to come by.
@@MeachPango theyre 4 stoke animals that are pretty much bullet proof. Not crazy fast but make up for it with reliance, durability, and style lol. Im biased though since im building one now myself
Awesome videos just subbed.. new to quads well motorcross in general. What would you recommend that checks all the boxes of: Reliable ✅ Easy to work on✅ Tons aftermarket availability✅ Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks and look forward to more awesome videos
I just have to say that as far as the 421 low port and slps pipes on the banshee and you saying the power band is “all nothing” That’s just incorrect, you do have bigger carbs which will take away a little low end response, but that setup should be really easy to keep in the power band without having to wring its neck to get it to do anything.
never ridden either quad but i would take an R all day bc it is similar to my 450s and has a better chassis. for me it’s stability over power all day long. i would love to rip a banshee in the dunes though.
Power means nothing if you don't have traction or if you can't control it. Banshees are awesome, but the R will almost always win unless it's a straight line race.
My 4 mill makes less power, but I have bottom, mid, and top. ( usable power 70 hp pump gas ) My banchee sits 50 inches wide elka all the way around and she does better than great!!! against all new stock yfz450's and even exhaust with fuel turner's. And I'm not a good rider lol I'm actually more of a dirt bike guy. Having a competitive trail banchee is all about proper setup. Sometimes less is more
H I ran a banshee in open 2 stroke class for years. Never did well enough to go pro - but you would be surprised at how well a banshee could be setup to handle. Once the 450's became popular though - it was time to retire. I broke 3 chassis in one season trying to keep up.
FINALLY lol NOW I KNOW!!! 🤔 THAT HIT TO TO JOHNS MELLON WITH THAT BIG ASS ROCK IS PROBABLY WHY HIS BUILDS DONT LAST and ALWAYS has to ride OTHER (mikes) machines… hey yo bro Michael, roost him again so MAYBE IT WILL KNOCK HIM BACK STRAIGHT! Johns reaction, so fucking pure 🤣
The banshee was always known as a drag racer and hill climber, that’s why it was never really raced in mx, still an awesome bike and fun to ride though
Between these 2 quads most definitely the 250r. I've always thought the Banshee has a shitty suspension.
The banshee was never made for this. They were made for dunes and drag racing. That's it. Everything else they suck at lol.
Banshee's are for the dunes, they never change the suspension since the 80s. Despite that the unique sound, the timeless look.. is just the most iconic ATV.
Sorry John, I laugh my ass off everytime I see that rock come flying at you…… great content, keep grinding guys
