Here's a great tool for learning openings: chessbook.com/hanging-pawns Chessbook allows you to import and practice your repertoire. It focuses on moves people actually play as well as your mistakes. Connect it to your lichess or chess com accounts to correct the biggest gaps in your repertoire!
I would argue that the best way to learn is to try first, and then to study theory, rather than just studying "dry" theory that you have no experience to relate to.

@@hundhund489 After black plays ...Rxd8, white shouldnt play Bxf6 but Nd5. White will win the rook and the pawn if black plays ...Nxd5 or lose the bishop and the knight if they don't do anything
I do want to point out that 4. ... 0-0 is very playable for black. If e5 just Ne8 and the c5 break is super scary for white and his center is going to collapse really fast. If white doesnt go e5 it's just going to transpose. It can be a good provocative move imo. Btw there is a game Fischer won in this line (i don't remember who he was against) and he called e5 "weak" in his post match interview Great vid as always :)
Your videos are so good. I have improved my game immensely on your Caro-Kahn and Giocco Piano videos. I've watch them multiple times. You're an excellent teacher!
😱😱😱😱😱 finally the D4, in my club there's an old man who exclusively playes the KID and Pirc. Now I will study this and crush him or at least stand more than 25 moves 😅
Also could you priefly explain how to study chess positions 😅 is it just puting the position on the board and then you start calculating the variations? This could be a good video topic regarding the "chess meditations" series. 👍
It's amazing how success with the whole opening can pivot around moving the e or c pawn, and the consequences of doing the wrong one, which takes awhile to materialise, well explained!
I love your dedication to chess, I'm 28 yrs and my first OTB tournament will be next month, where I will be getting my first ElO rating... I started chess late, just like you said about yourself in the about of the channel, I found your channel yesterday and I'm very happy with the content it brings 😊 Keep going Champ maybe we will be GMs one day 😂
Hi Allan, he does show them, they are just inside the squares near the edge of the board instead of outside of the squares as you may be used to seeing. In his earlier videos he didn't show them, but he's fixed it now. Hope that helps!
Great video as always, I am excited for the d4 series because I am still not sure which opening to play against d4( I usually play e6 and transpose to the french)
Please show the Makagonov variation (5. h3). Thats the best scoring variation for white and this is what super gms play against the kings indian nowadays.
12:11 in bayonette attack I usually play Nd7 not Nh5 I think it is better because night form d7 controls c5 square and it's not on the same diagonal like e2 bishop
I like you, you cover *every single possible moves* there is and you explained everything beautifully. You just earn a subscribe from me, as from now I might be looking into more of your videos. Thank you for the eye opening
Thanks Stjepan!! There are a lot of chess channels I watch just for fun and entertainment... but yours is definitely the one witch most helps me studying and improving my game!!
By far, the best chess lecturing on youtube. Thanks Stjepan. Would you also add the exchange variation of KID in detail as a seperate video? It would complete the entire KID playlist. Thanks a lot.
Sensational effort making 100+ videos for each variation by the way. Why cant I find tutorials for this opening for white? It’s possible for both isn’t it?
Hi mate, I can recall a game between Kasparov vs Mia. Kasparov opts for gligoric variation. He sacrifice his dark square bishop in return he gets pieces activity. Then he dismantle black king side.😁 You must check it out. All the best for the new series!!!
Surely at 15:43 black has 10...Nd7 which defends the bishop and clears a square for the rook. White can go pawn up, but game isn't over. Black has compensation.
Looking at the database, the correct way to punish 6...e5?! in the Averbakh variation seems to be 7.dxe5 dxe5 8.Qxd8 Rxd8 9.Nd5! instead of 9.Bxf6. Black most commonly then sacrifices an exchange to get out of the mess 9...Nxd5 10.Bxd8. Black still has chances though: out of three games in the database white won 1 and black won 2.
I'm planning to add this to my reportoire but I'm kinda afraid to seeing the positions it leads to where I'm cramped up with no space.but I guess I gotta learn to play those positions some day.
Thank you Stepan, again a very well explained tutorial, very instructive and easy to understand. Hoping when will you cover the Queen's Indian Defence? Thank you very much in advance.

Yes but what about Knight d7 as response to the fork?
@@hundhund489 I guess that move is ok but it's still bad to lose a pawn for no reason in the opening. Black doesn't even have more development

Your English is clearer and more eloquent than most Americans I've heard (myself included). Great guide!

A6 (spanish defense), C6, Nbd7, Qc7 (to stop e5), and B5. Easyly equalizes for black

Well, then the KID should suit you well. Both are centered around pawn breaks and a king side attack for black.
12:12 I prefer Ne8 instead of Nh5 because after black plays f5, white takes and after gxf5 there is Nxe5
Please show the Makagonov variation (5. h3). Thats the best scoring variation for white and this is what super gms play against the kings indian nowadays.
