Furniture Transfer on Metal // Vintage Laundry Bin Makeover // Attempting a Textured, Artistic Look

- In today's video I will be creating a textured artistic look on this vintage laundry bin. I'll be using chalk mineral paint and trying a furniture transfer for the very first time! Spoiler: it was a lot harder than I expected.
I wanted to honor the age of this piece and keep this makeover vintage-inspired by creating this look. I don't do use texture very often, but I'd like to do it more. Should I do more artistic pieces like this? Would you want to see me use more transfers? Let me know!
If you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up, and if you didn't give it a thumbs down! Thanks for watching!
xoxo,
Holly

I love that you kept the integrity of the vintage style with the transfer. I know it was a lot of work to do, but it was a really good selection. Still looks vintage but will last a lot longer now! Awesome job!
That means a lot, Emily, thank you. That is exactly what I wanted to accomplish 💜

Amazing makeover! Before it was cute, vintage, and worn out. Now it's cute and vintage, yet fresh and somehow more modern.
Thank you so much :)
Very vintage looking it’s adorable just beautiful 😻
Thank you! 😊
I am absolutely in love with this.
Thank you so much ❤
Such a difference! It turned out beautifully!!!
I totally agree! Thank you so much!
This is amazing. Those of us that are older grew up with these in the bathroom. They were a fixture in everyone’s bath. You have turned this one into a piece of art!
You might use a small natural sea sponge when blending in the transfer. Blot off the paint on a paper towel and build up layers gradually. You can also add a little of the background color(s) in the transfer for a layer. Keeping the layers thin and translucent. It’s a game changer.
Thank you! Appreciate the ideas and tips!
your artistic creativity really shines through on this piece. it looked like very hard work but it paid off! amazing job as always.
Thank you so much Matt 💜
Love how you blended the sides of the transfer after you got it on! Genius. It really made it look more authentically aged and beautiful!
Thank you so much ☺
I felt the same way on my first transfer and then I found I should have sprayed a clear coat on before the transfer and that made it much easier. Now I use transfers on everything (maybe too much, lol). It turned out beautifully though!
Thank you for that tip! Another friend of mine said that clear coat is good to use on non-flat surfaces so I'll be trying that next time.
Thank you for watching :)
That was very enjoyable. I'm once again inspired.🥰
Thank you so much, Sherri ❤
I think you did a beautiful job on that hamper. It looks great
I really appreciate that. Thank you ❤
This laundry bin/basket looks so much better! Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕🐨🌺
Thank you very much!
Beautiful, Holly. Sorry it was a pain. I love learning from your videos and they're very relaxing to watch.
Aw thank you so much, I love hearing that.
aww so adorable! i love vintage pieces. you did a great job as always...also, i commend your honesty on telling the truth about the tasks.
Thank you so much ❤ I really appreciate it.
Oh bravo!!!! What a gorgeous transformation!!!!
Looks so good. Prefect selection for the transfer. It still looks vintage but modern.
Thank you ❤
Ngl I think this is my favorite piece you've done so far. Well done on the video, loved the music at the end!
I love to hear that. Thank you 💜
Looks really beautiful. Well worth the effort. Well done
Thank you very much! Really kind of you to say!
I could so use that! I'm redecorating my bedroom in a muted Victorian/French Provincial style. 😍😍😍
Ooo that sounds lovely!
I love this Bin! You made it beautiful. I want one😍
Thank you so much, Amy! 😊
Beautiful makeover. The transfer is charming and fits the style and shape beautifully.
Thank you Mary ❤
Sooo many great tips on transfers here, Holly. Thanks for that info, I've been curious to use them but wouldn't have known half of these challenges (you're right, nobody talks about the tough stuff). This turned out so pretty! What a unique and special piece, love! 😍
Thank you so much, Jenn. I think everyone should try them at least once. Admittedly, I probably made things harder for myself choosing such a large transfer and trying it on a non-flat surface 😜
Great job Holly! Such a unique and lovely piece!
I so appreciate that! Thank you, Nancy!
That looks so nice, love the transfer!! Great job!
Thank you so much 😊
You did a great job Holly! The transfer may have been a pain but it looks so pretty!
Thank you, Kim! I think so too! ❤
Came out beautiful Holly...
I felt same way on my first transfer and YES the stain does come off onto paint so what I Have that works very well is I bought primas Plastic burnishing tool as well as a Painters Stick that I Snapped in half and Transfers Get easier as you Do them...the ones with lettering and Intriget details Are more stubborn...I would suggest start experimenting with transfers that you can layer and cut up as the ones with full sheets and larger are harder and work best after a few projects with other ones ..I hope this helps you Holly...Again This hamper is beautiful 🥰👍
Thank you!
These tips are so so helpful, thank you for sharing them with me!
@@ChicAntiquebyHolly anytime Holly. You can always PM me on Instagram with Any questions. .I will definitely help 🥰👍
You did an awesome job. It turned out beautiful. The transfer was possibly a little difficult because of applying to the textured paint technique. I would have done the same as you because the texture gives character. And I love the way you blended the transfer in.
Thank you! I definitely agree. The texture for sure made it harder.
Thanks for watching :)
It's delightful. Well done
Thanks so much!
Imperfectly perfect!❤️😊
Thanks!
wahh.. really enjoy to watch ❣️❣️🤩🤩❣️🤩
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
This looks great loved it❤
Très beau!
Merci! ❤
I will be praying for u ❤
I want to buy this! I love it so, so very much! Please?
Thank you so much! Come to Oregon and take it off my hands! 😂
They sell a better tool to use. It’s under $7, and much stronger. When you don’t have a flat surface, it’s tougher.
I think I'll be getting that next time I use a transfer. Thanks for watching!
The reason you’re having so much difficulty getting the transfer to release is because you didn’t put some clearcoat on first. I believe that’s in the instructions for using those transfers. You shouldn’t have to press that hard.
Hi is this a pay to view UA-cam, unfortunately I am unable to view any of your tutorials but I will catch you on Instagram. I am in the UK
No, you don't have to pay to watch any of my videos. They are free, just like everything else on UA-cam.
I don't get why you didn't show if you painted the inside of the piece?
I didn't paint the inside, but I did prime it for a clean finish.
@@ChicAntiquebyHolly it would have been a good thing in my opinion to have sprayed it with a good coat of paint though. And people are learning from you, so if you don't show it they don't understand it needs to be done.
@@prudencepark3731 that's where our opinions differ, and that's okay.
