    Does anyone know why there are 2 sets of columns under the suspended part at the beginning of the bridge?

      To ensure that the end of the bridge aligns properly with the connecting roadway, regardless of main span flex of the bridge (due to wind, temperature, etc).

      @@jaylewis5035 Those 2 sets of columns are called Side Span Piers; they are part of the design. The next set of colums has a horizontal beam. That is the Anchor Pier.

    To me it looks like not snow protection along the banks a ships bow could hit the bridge. Will there be shore barriers?
