Nice video. I was on the southwest side of the GRC monument for the April 8 total solar eclipse. I'd researched quite a few sites over the years, but this park was at the top of my list for over six years. I stopped in Vincennes for the first time the Saturday before the eclipse, and felt like I had known this park- and really the whole town- for all my life. What a perfect place for one of the most memorable events of my life. Thanks for letting me re-live it.

It’s a very special place! Our parents brought us here as kids, and I’ve kept coming back for decades. It definitely has a special place in my heart! So much so, I made three 2 hour one way trips, to capture the best sunlight. 🙂

Great video. Thanks for posting it. My wife and I will be in New Harmony next month and now I think I will take
the ride up to this site. Thanks again.

I’ve loved the area around the monument, since Dad brought us in the 1970’s. I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve returned! 🙂

Great video Roger. Very beautiful murals inside. A lasting memorial that will be around long after we are gone. Very nice job. 🙂

Adventures with Roger I was wondering if you had been taking advantage of some of the lovely weather here lately for filming your videos! Always glad to get that notification.

Down here it’s hit and miss. All week I watch the extended forecast against locations I want to film. Forecasted sunny all week to only be full sun until 9am! But, I get closer every day to filming every tourist attraction down here. Right now, I have more southern Indiana sites than anyone else on the Internet, including the state! ☺️

I looked up and watched this video when I was looking through all the America The Beautiful state quarters.

Back in 1984-86, I attended Vincennes University. At times, my friends and I would wander around this Monument which was closed and late at night. We were drunk, a bit stoned and will never forget the times with my brothers, Iota Zeta.I live in Terre Haute, Vigo County present day. Excellent video of History to say the least and Thanks.

I love hearing about the memories people have about these places. My earliest memory of the Memorial was Dad driving us from Greenwood, Indiana and watching re-enactors get out of boats to tell stories to a huge crowd.
And then, about 15 years later, after he was passed away, taking a road trip on a Saturday afternoon, with my Mom, and it being virtually deserted. A young girl from the university was sitting along the river, talked with us for a bit. A very friendly sort, seemed a little homesick though. I couldn’t get over how quiet and peaceful it was, and every visit since. No matter if I Road tripped with cousins visiting from Illinois, or took a date, just quiet as if time stood still at this place. When my Mom was later dying of cancer, my wife suggested we go somewhere for the day, for my birthday, while relatives stayed with her: I chose to go here.
Each time I go back, it’s the same. I recall black and white photos of my Mom and Dad when they visited in the 1950’s, as a young single couple, and the laughs of my cousins as we walked the grounds of a memorial. Just a really neat place filled with memories.

Absolutely my pleasure! Today I was working on my documentary of Morgan’s Raid and the sunken ship “Alice Dean”, that still sits under the Ohio River, at Mauckport. It’s taking a life of its own, so many details

@@AdventureswithRoger Morgan's Raid and the Alice Dean - very exciting. I am looking forward to it. One spot I would like to see a nice docu about is Eleutherian College, near Madison. Also, Marengo Cave, because it is a great place for family fun and education at the same time, and the legend behind its discovery includes childhood shenanigans. Just keep up the great work. I will be sharing.

Marengo Cave history I’ve started, with the story about Blanche and her brother discovering the cave. Also Squire Boone, Indiana Caverns, Wyandotte Caves and Blue Springs. I was working on interior shots when the pandemic started. Hopefully I can get back before too long.

Eleutherian College has an interesting story for sure. I filmed New Albany’s Division Street School and Corydons Leora Brown school, wasn’t sure how to tie them all together.

@@AdventureswithRoger you should make a video on the church next to it. There’s actually a climate controlled vault underneath it with books that are several hundred years old and numerous other artifacts
