This is an incredible Tournament this weekend, fist time watching a GT7 tourney, and it was an AMAZING experience.
The weather and tire strategies makes racing WAY MORE DEEP.
You are putting the teams to to another level of racing, team strats driver sessions, tire strats with weather. all that makes racing PERFECT.
The announcers are AMAZING, they talk about nuanced stuff that helps new people to racing discover all the aspects of what the drivers are considering and doing.
And they have so much energy and excitement and are constantly engaged with enthusiasm.
This is TOP NOTCH production, you can't make it any better. you guys have nailed it and have hit a pinnacle of racing production.

Nice to see that Polyphony have finally figured out what the word "nation" means, but still a completely bizarre format. Wasted potential.
There's huge potential for interest in weekly national qualifiers, with the top few drivers of each nation going forward to a head-to-head race with the top drivers of other nations.

That was, simply put, a really, really bad joke that PD put on us GT players when it came to the Qualifying Race. Most people thought it was going to be a new track reveal (specifically Circuit Gilles Villeneuve that was first rumored on Reddit) but instead it was *just* Grand Valley. Wow, just....wow. *Major* missed opportunity, Kaz.

Spain had a 33 second lead over Japan 3rd place softs and they on hards and they held the gap for 8 laps on lap 22, the mandatory lap to change for the 8 lap restriction.
Japan needed to do a 4.1 second faster lap over Spain each lap to catch up and win.
Getting that lead and having no one to challenge your turns, while the rest of all the other cars/racers are making harder turns competing (defending/blocking) with other cars around those turns burns time on the laps, that unrestricted laps with no deviation on all the turns for the whole race got the win.
That strat getting out front and having no competition on the turns gave Spain super lap times cause no deviations in those turns.
Can we see the lap times with tires on with the laps of this race Gran Turismo TV?

    • @nixxxon18

They drove incredliby well and fast regardless of that. Look at the massive gap Pol Urrua built to France car, then look at how they maintained the gap with mediums vs Canada on softs...

dude they were on soft at the begging that was the strat. he even said that, they made the decision after France went med.
This is my whole point, Canada on softs was being challenged but yes at the end they were goo,m but again that's cause they had the WHOLE turn to themselves without defending the turn on people or having people pull up beside you cause they drafted you.
Yes the Spain team all raced perfectly, but the strat won it.

      "15 seconds gap is more"
NO!!! it was the strat. again if they were tied up with others and fighting for turn and lane dominance they wouldn't have had an all clear track to themselves to pull off that 15 seconds, it doesn't matter how great you are as a racer. If you have to race with others competing for your position it slows you down.
What don't you understand about this???

Why didn't Myazono race for Japan? He has to be the best racer in the world. If not, then he's damn close to it!! Love watching him race!
In hindsight, looking at the race that Spain ran, it's surprising none of the other top runners went with the same strategy. Every other team lost fistfuls of time squabbling with other cars while Spain rode off into the sunset. If Japan had run the same strategy and run with Spain, I'm confident that Spain wouldn't have been able to stay with them in the end.

Or, you know, it's very likely that the spanish drivers were the best. Flawless race. The strategy helped but they were very fast on all 3 tires. The gap Pol Urra built at the first stint was insane, up to 12 laps of the softs with full tank and no mistakes... then Coke with mediums managed to almost maintanin the gap to Canada with softs. Then Serrano was quite fast on hards aswell.
