  • Well this was not the second flight I wanted to get on my Trex 600n! Unfortunately stuff like this happens and we can’t avoid it! So after watching the video a few times and slowing it down a blade grip link popped off in flight. You can hear the blade flutter right before it Exploded! Parts are ordered and we will rebuild soon!

    Dam, well at least the main body is ok, I am sure you will get up and running again. Glad the boom did it come flying for you. 👍🏻

      Thanks buddy! It could’ve been really bad if pieces hit me! That is one dangerous thing about flying helicopters there’s lots of spinning parts that can go flying. All the parts are here exception of a few which will be here this week and then I can get started on the rebuild!

    Very realistic. A life-size helicopter would also do the same thing to you if you tried to do those things.

      It came apart from a link popping but you can beat on these helis and 3D all day. Models and full scale are very different in what they can do.

    I crashed my Raptor 30 last week because engine shut off above a 40 ft Oak tree. It ping ponged its way to earth bouncing off one branch and another until it hit ground at a slow speed . Why? Ran out of fuel ….glow plug….trash in line….wrong needle settings…pressure line to tank….pickup tube .... NOPE …none of that . A metal baffle came loose inside tuned pipe and blocked the outlet of the muffler. Luckily only one boom support and one linkage broke….incredible. I still hate crashing over things that I have no control over.

      Crashing sucks, but it sucks more when something fails. I don’t mind crashing and it happens to everyone but I hate crashing because of something I didn’t do and I try my best to see and or fix any issues I think will be a problem. I’ve still got two Raptor 50s. I need to get them flying again.

    Glad it wasn’t worse than it was. That ticks me off too when brand new stuff is crap out of the box!!! I had to laugh about your broken blade crash shrine. If I did that I wouldn’t have room on the walls for anything else 🤣🤣🤣

      Found a few more things broken after going through it after the video. But all in all it was not too bad about $300 worth of parts plus the canopy. Definitely sucks! But new parts fail all the time so it’s part of the Hobby and Rebuild and keep flying. LOL that would be a cool Wall though!

    It sucks for the crash. I have the old 600n with the yellow canopy as well. Can’t wait to see it up in the air again. Can you do a video of the governor set up. I have the same one but for some reason I feel like it’s not working. Light work when they should when detecting the magnetics but in the air. It seems to be lower throttle for some reason. I was using a dx7 g2. But when I get back home, I’ll have a nx10 waiting on me so I’ll have setup everything again. I just want to be able to fly haha. But subbed.

      Thanks for watching! I appreciate you subbing. Waiting on a few more parts but I pretty much have everything to put it back together found some more stuff last night that I needed to order. Yeah I can do a video on the govern setup. Do you have three different modes selected to a switch? You want a -100 on one mode which is governor off for start up. Then you want to modes with positive values which will indicate your head to speed for example my low head speed is 70% and my high head speed is 100%.

    Awh man that sucks.. that's why I don't like the DFC heads on bigger helicopters. Had a 700 with DFC head and never really trusted it.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 роки тому

      I’ve got hundreds upon hundreds of flights on my DFC 550 same head and zero issues, problem came from the link hitting the swash plate I’m 99% sure that’s what caused it because upon the rebuild I noticed the swashplate had a Nick in it and it’s right where the link lined up with.

      No it does not, have 100s of flights on this heli before changing the swash plate. Back to the original swash and no issues. 550 DFC same thing, 100s of flights no issues. Not what DFC does.

    Looking at my 700N I still have it since new in 2009
    Last flight was 2010 Divorce stopped me flying thinking about dragging the old helis out again.
    But the links on the head have all faded.
    I replaced the original with those Red links that were popular at the time. Strange considering the heli has sat in a dark room for so long.
    But im wondering if they might fail also.

      Welcome back to flying! So personally I would change them if your in doubt. Not worth having one break. Unfortunately plastic becomes brittle after a while even if it’s stored in a cool, dark place.

    crashes are always traumatic, especially when it's a helicopter crash. they always seem to hurt much worse than a fixed wing crash. the one thing I was taught by the old guy that taught me how to fly RC was a very simple statement. he told me, if s*** hasn't happened yet, it will. and if it has, s*** will happen again. then he said hopefully in between those things you have a whole lot of fun. the statement I added to the people I taught how to fly was, if you can't afford the crash, don't fly!

      Crashes don’t bother me, it all part of the hobby! My grandpa always said! If you don’t want to break them don’t fly them! Best part about helis are how fast they can be rebuilt!

      I thought about it but I’ve never had a problem before, even on my 550 I run the same head. I am definitely upgrading the link ends and balls to the 760 links and balls like I did on my 550 much stronger. But if I find a complete head I’ll definitely switch over

    Wouldn't the blade stay flat and level to horizon if it unpopped from the swash?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Рік тому

      No, not at all. It will flop and move around. You can a flutter and that was the link popping. You can also see a mark in the swash plate and link was bent in the Direction of it being knocked off. Put the original swash play on and have 100+ flights on it and it’s been fine now.

    What up bro?...that sux about your helicopter but i know you will get it back into the air soon...so i just received the spektrum s2200 and i plugged in my two smart 3s 5000 50c batteries into the charger and it automatically detected stuff and started charging at 12.5amps and it only took about 20-30 min to charge both where as before with my venom pro it would take almost 75mins...i looked at the instructions and it says that it will automatically detect and charge smart batteries...does this sound correct to you on the fast charge time?...im just blown away and cant believe how fast i just charged two 5000 batteries is all:)
