      🤣🤣 so the flight dynamics for P3D are far better than MemeSimulator and thank you for your opinion, I do hope you get to enjoy your flight sim for the next 20+ years, I really do. I will be enjoying mine for the next 50+ years. I’m sure as a 20 year old pilot, you know in flight sim training, visuals mean nothing next to accurate procedures.

      I completely agree. For excellent flight dynamics, I'd use X-Plane 11/12. MSFS is the sim with the strongest backing by the developers, and more developers are releasing addons all the time. MSFS is and will be the leader of the flight sims for a long time. I say this as a long-time XP and FSX/P3D user.

      @@srcultureshock I don’t think there is a “leader@ unless you’re only looking at pure sales. P3D, MFS and Xplane 12 are 3 very different sims which really is unfair to compare them, they attract different users for different reasons. They are unique in their own right and all have strengths and weaknesses. I feel they are equal for what they can do.

    Very good and sad video. You are hanging on to hope in a dead horse. By your own reasoning L.M does not care about or need the once loyal customers who have moved on. This is a sad reality that you refuse to grasp. L.M. has hundreds of millions of government money, therefore they have no reason to need ours. Even though they are developing and training pilots they have zero incentive to share any of their technology with you and me. So they have decided to go that route and we as simmers need to live with it. Much of your reasoning makes sense in a wishful fairytale way, but that's where it ends. As someone who loved P3d and spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on it, and countless hours installing and reinstalling and reinstalling and tweaking and tweaking, I too am sad that it has been abandoned. Adam it's time to accept the fact that grandma is indeed dead! No matter how much you wish she wasn't, and no matter how much you wish she would come around the corner and run back into your arms, she is dead and she is not coming back. She is gone, she is buried in the grave, never to rise again! P3d was wonderful yet highly flawed when we had her, but now its time to move on with life. After all what it ultimately comes down to is..... She was only a game.... time to move on....

      You know what I know this is a year late and old, but I’m going to stick with a simulator that actually works and not a simulator that I have to update just to fly a fucking plane. I don’t like the fact you are forced into updating it and the updates take Ashton long if you don’t use that Sim for over a year and now it will not even work. Great job Microsoft

    I like P3D too, and I'm glad to hear they are developing a Ver. 6, but you make Microsoft sound like some fly-by-night company. They started all of this flight simulation. What about laminar? will they be around in the future? Many people left P3D to fly Xplane. I flew both but found myself flying XP-11 more than P3D. Xplane 12 looks promising. So hopefully P3D will at least fall somewhere in between. XP12 and MSFS

      To me they are the one company of highest risk because they are independently funded. P3D has the backing of the USA government, MFS is relying solely on profits, although they have plenty of funds available to them. Even DCS World would be at risk of closing down without enough support. At the same me of the day, right now we have so much choice for personal preference it’s a great time to be in flight simulation whatever the reason.

    In a commercial aspect MFS simply is where the people who are willing to spend money on are. Prepar3D is really old platform and MFS is the simulator that we were looking for years. Comparing offline capabilities in 2023 is a total rubbish. I do not know any simmer who is not using live weather in Prepar3d or in MFS. I'm a newbee regarding P3D, so all beginning is tough. I guess, in the beginning P3D is not easy to work with. It is no "Plug-and-Play (and pray ;-)) software. As a single user, you must be willing to dig in to the technical stuff and figure out how to do things right (good to have your videos as help!) But doing so, you sence that the software has DOD quality. Already after a vew hours of experience, I realised I should have jumped over from MS long time ago 🙂
    Personaly for me, one of the most advantages of P3D vs MSFS, is that I can SAVE my flights including everything (panel state, fuel, wheather, location, etc) without loading all kind of seperate mod's of which I have no idea what to expect. And it works!
    Regarding the quality of the "World Graphics". As I mostly fly Commercial Airplanes at a flylevel > 16.000 Ft, I don't realy care about the details beneath me.
    Got some issue to take care of first (My SIM crashes for some dumm reason when I push back my FSLAB planes), but after that I'm thinking of extending first with GSX level 2 for my the default airports.
    After getting used to P3D, I consider to extend with ORBX and and maybe some Flytampa Airports.
    So far, I'm very happy with P3D!
    Happy New Year!

    Adam I must say this. Ive just switched over to msfs it took me 4 days to actually download cause my internet is that bad. You mentioned that you will only get so far with the internet is actually not true. As you read my internet is absolutely the slowest it can be (2mb/s download, 0.75mb/s upload), not cause I don't pay for the package that the best, but cause its the only avail in my area for the moment. Im available to fly to new countries and enjoy the photogeometry, for example I flown yesterday from EBBR - LFPO and I was able to verify what it actually looks like from when I did this flight, even tho my internet is slow. The photo geometry might not be the crispiest it can be but it has the actual building and the actual textures as 2d but its already enjoy.

      msfs isn't a game anymore tho. Has you actually tried the Fenix a320?. I come from FsLabs a320 been flying for many years now and ive always supported them. However the Fenix also has now 288 circuit breakers. The physics of the game now feels better and pretty realistic as I do fly on the jumseat time to time on a real a320/a321. At least the physics design for the Fenix is better than most modules. It can be upgrade and im going to write a letter today addressing one engine departures on the a320. However p3d and fslabs do have one the best integration and systems ive seen so far. The Fenix is getting there. They need better performance on the cockpit side of things and change a few things. I keep coming back to msfs even after being a huge p3d fan for so many years I use to talk bad about the game feel of the msfs. However we lack to unidentify its a sim that bring new people to aviation, and at the same time if you prefer a realistic game play you have the pmdg and the Fenix. the sim is 2 years old only.

      @@RAVIOLIdS mfs has (in the base game) very poor flight physics, the planes are wayy too bouncy on landing and react weirdly when flying. I'd say that mfs is a great sim but only if you want to spend 300+ euros if you want to have a big catalog of decent airframes. (excluding that a310 they bought because microsoft is rich). P3d has overall better physics similar to xplane but the graphics might not be as good as the graphics you would see on mfs. I think these simulators are better not to be put in comparisons because of user's preferences and holding points preferred for a specific sim.

If the addon people are not keeping on board with the changes people are not going to be interested in Prepar3D.

    I think at the end of the day it all depends on the addons. P3D as a platform is not bad, to be honest it's pretty good, I've invested thousands of dollars on this platform, but all software required maintenance and support, addons developers withdrawing from P3D market might not be a big issue for the current P3Dv5 user, however, what about P3Dv6, v7? Agree or not eco system plays huge part in sim, and the sad thing is the eco system of P3D is dying.
    Don't get me wrong, I still fly P3D sometimes, the only reason is PMDG 747, but I believe by the time PMDG release their 747 on MFS platform, I will complete delete all my P3D contents in my computer. It's like saying goodbye to a good friend.

      thank you for your opinion. Im sorry to say tho that I think what you mean is that the "ecosystem" as in the community of developers? It is not dying at all Im afraid to let you know. Yes, alot of devs have walked away from P3D and put all their eggs in the MFS sim. Which has given way for alot more devs to rise up and replace those more famous devs of the past. There are loads of airports that have been released this year, more than 10 and even planes still being worked on and sold for this established and stable platform. When anyone says the platform is dead or dying, what they really mean is that it has died for them only. P3D is used by quite alot of users in both the community and professional markets. In fact, the actual daily users exceeds that of MFS which has dwindled since its release quite alot from millions of daily users to only tens of thousands. Which 3rd party dev sales reflect that also.

That would be great and a game changer. To give all those great developers the oportunity to use new technology for their addons but without letting us coustomers standing in the rain with a new modern version but no addons.

    • @AdamJPestridge
      @AdamJPestridge  Рік тому +1

      Well I will say, that is EXACTLY what P3Dv5 is. It uses the most advanced tools, replacing older ones that devs have become way too dependent on and unwilling to update with, hence why so many have moved on to MFS and abandoned this sim without updating their previous addons. This sim is a technological update over previous versions and takes far more advantage over the GPU than ever before allowing more systems to take full advantage of the graphics of the sim, it’s just such a shame that many users are still stuck on the old way of using P3D and relying still on old addons inserted in the sim rather than the default more advanced ways. The default sim is a very reliable sim, it’s only 3rd party addons made badly and users that make it so incompatible.

      Firstly, V5 is a multi cpu core engine simulator, you can even assign them yourself, there is a link in my discord to where you can spread the load of the sim over your cores evenly. FSX is a single core engine simulator and I think everyone’s frustration with current P3D is that they still run current P3D like FSX and then complain about the visuals. Duh, if you use P3Dv5.3 the way it’s meant to be run, with my additional packs and tweaks, then it can look 90% that of MFS, the only difference being the texture limitation of default sim being 2K upscaled to 4K, which is the sims highest supported resolution. Some devs give out 4K textures in their products, most do 1K and some even do 2K. It’s a mixed bag really. Which is why P3D can look great and at the same time, really bad. It all depends on the user. My current Twitch streams really showcase what is possible with P3D whilst the bigger streamers are still using it like FSX. In terms of v6, it’s not out yet, it’s not been made public how far into development it is. Although what has been clear by LM is that it is backwards compatible with existing addons and supports unrealengine5. So we don’t know to what degree it’s being used. So our expectations need to be managed here. Whatever it will be. It will be an advancement on v5 which meets current simulators on the market in terms of what it’s capable of. So v6 will be better than v5 and looking back at the history of LM would tell me what their future is like. Like anything else in this world. Also, their goal has never been to make a simulator for the flight sim community, it’s been for their own use in military training.

    have XP-11 & 12, FSX as well, but, it has some serious display/graphical and hardware limitations. I am seriously considering P3D as it's replacement, MSFS was plank owner, but it's a mess, done with it. Is P3D worth it?

    • @AdamJPestridge
      @AdamJPestridge  Рік тому

      Totally worth it no matter what kind of flight simmer you are. It’s flexible to work in any set up. Plus you can change the sim to however you like. It also has apps that places real live weather in it, not predicted weather and also allows 3rd party devs full access to create a flight model for their planes rather than the simulator dictating the flight model for the plane with limited resources for the 3rd party devs.

      @@AdamJPestridge just watched review from A fanboy of MSFS, who said P3D is going to fail, he does not realize as stated in your review, LM, is not depending on consumer purchasing, it has gobs and gobs of military training, and professional pilots who buy the more expensive licenses and use it to train in. Other reviews of X-Plane also fail to realize the flight model of it is better than MSFS/FSX by a long amount, because it was primary developed as a professional pilot training vehicle. It morphed into a consumer vehicle, when FSX/Steam parted ways and no one was doing good consumer sim. This one will be around for years and years as well as XP because of the commercial-military buy in. Thanks for good review. Is there a C-17 for it?

There are a few bugs I don't enjoy such a toga acting like flex thrust and I miss the gsx integration that the fslabs has and chase plane. But I really like the nice photo geometry the sim has and the Fenix. Credit has to be given where its due. Msfs rewrote their code from scratch where as p3d hasn't, just been updating their sim hardware req.

    As far as I can say after 20 Years of simming....
    I changed to P3D as Microsoft announced, not to continue with developping. Also MS was allways very unstable, not so on P3D. Now I bought MSFS 2020 to find out differences and I think it is 1st overloaded and 2nd you are a slave of Microsoft running thir product. Why do I need a Microsoft account for simming ? And to be online all the time, hey whats wrong here ?
    You have to accept a lot of overload with MS-Games and Xbox necessarities. I have no Xbox and never want one. Yes, online scenery downloads are sexy, but if you are interested in IFR flying, scenery is not really what you need. A slim and easy system is a lot more sexy....
    I am running a 1:1 cockpit in original size to sit in and MSFS is no choice for this kind of application. I like the visuals and the World in MSFS but it is not practicable to implement so easy than P3D. My wish is, to have the scenery in this quality as it is with MSFS, but everything else you can forget. I need no Aircrafts, my sim is a A320, nothing else.
    So it depends what you want to do, many (unnecessary) things around or the essential functionality. MSFS is really a GAME for simple gamers, P3D is a training solution of first class. I never called flight simming a GAME. It is a simulation.
    I stay on P3D, because i do not want to be a slave of Microsft. But the scenery quality of MSFS vs. P3D is great. But if you want to learn flying, P3D is the better choice. I hope Lockheed Martin will follow up the scenery quality soon. Unfortunately P3D V6 is rubbish, no increase of performance or funcionality. A waste of money so far....
    So I think the best solution is still allways P3D V5, but with the scenery (and nothing else) of MSFS.

      yes, there are so many flaws in the sim for the way it needs to be so it can look like that. It looks great yes, but it aint future proof at all. It wont be around in 20 years like P3D will be. Id rather stick with the company who aint doing it for the money than the one that needs the money for the sim to survive.
