    I really love P3D, especially all the wide bodies airliners like 777 or 747. But I mainly stay with XP11 and XP12 recently just because how good the default airports are. I think one of the biggest drawback of P3D is the default airport, P3D is the only sim that I need to list all paid airports/sceneries in a separate txt file just to keep tracking before I fly in the Vatsim, that's why I always think Xplane's Gateway Scenery approach is just genius. If P3Dv6 would have default airports with community like XPlane's Gateway Scenery supported, this will be a dream come true for me.

    Great video. I myself left P3D after v3. Not because I thought it was bad, but because after many years of flirting, I drifted over, fulltime to X-Plane. I purchased MSFS when it came out, but I just never took to it. Now it just gather dust in my virtual safe. I don´t even have it installed on my PC.
    But YOUR video, right here gave me a thought. I will spend $60 on P3Dv5. I just spent the same amount on X-Plane 12, but hey... the more great sims the better, and you convinced me to have P3Dv5 on my rig. Thanks for that.

    In my opinion,unfortunately after all these years,P3D is too much of a FSX,with some improvements...but from what I see in the videos,it is clear that either the game´s core had reached its tech limit or the developers dont care as much.Its a shame that I still see the same problems as in FSX,ugly generic buildings placed oddly everywhere|,ugly 2D trees and that extremely bad earth textures,thin paper cloud layers,and on and on....what a nice future it will have...afffff...what a shame!

      If the devs didn’t care, they would not update the sim at all. They are the just active devs in the community, constantly updating and adding features to improve the base. It is based from 20 year old tech, that’s only because it’s reliable and works and gives devs what they need to create addons for the sim. It’s not designed to be the latest graphical gaming platform, it’s designed for scenario training where procedures are more important than graphics.

    There are so many memorable aircraft that id love to fly again, like to PMDG 777, Learjet 35 and A2A product line.

    I begin sim first on MSFS and move to P3D v5 afterward and didn't regret it. To many issue for "hardcore" sim in MSFS.
    MSFS doesn't offer features (and probably never) that make study level possible for airliner sim.
    Sadly 3th party addons situation in P3D is so bad, yes.
    And i'm actually looking on how to do my own scenery etc...
    But for me, it's a shame that P3D cost 200 bucks and didn't have a good landscape...
    LM need to improve terrain look and i hope they will do it for v6.
    If 3th party dev doesn't do it now i think LM has to do it otherwise P3D will slowly die.

      Firstly welcome to P3D. This is not the simulator you believe it to be. Yes, study level airliners are available in P3D. Yes you can create training scenarios and practice commercial procedures exactly as pilots would. P3D is also very flexible with 20 years worth of addons available to it. The default sim tho is a military training sim designed to be given to the user easily in order for them to train straight away. It also designed to be future proof with the whole world available without the need for an internet connection. Sadly. You didn’t need to spend £200 on it as the academic license is good enough for only about £50. P3D can be an amazing sim but it’s down to you to make it visually a good one. It’s fidelity far exceeds MFS under the hood with what’s possible enabling the user to transform the sim into whatever they want. Something sadly MFS will never be able to do.also, P3D will never die because it doesn’t rely on profits for its survival. The military use it to train pilots and that won’t stop any time soon. P3D will outlive all the other sims for this very reason. I can recommend the learning library on the P3D website that will teach you all you need to know how to create your own addons.

    It would be awesome if MSFS 2020 scenery can be installed on P3D V5 .It's nearly impossible nevertheless....

    I got into flightsimming just when MSFS came out. At first it was quite disappointing and I even bought Xplane. Now MSFS is much better with all the updates and full fidelity planes. To be honest, having Xplane and MSFS, and good addons on both of them I don't really see good enough reasons to bother with P3D. It's more flexible, it has some unique high fidelity planes, and...? Am I missing something?

    • @AdamJPestridge
      @AdamJPestridge  Рік тому

      The flexibility of the sim is what attracts me the most. Being able to replace everything and use the sim however you want, be it a full motion pro sim down to a vr headset. P3D is used for so many different reasons by so many different entities. P3D can give all those different users exactly whatever they say. So the real question is. Why do you use flight sim. That would determine what flight sim is best for you, the one you’re most comfortable using. To immerse yourself into why you use the flight sim. Xplane, P3D and MFS are very different sims. Neither is the best or the worst. It totally depends on what the user needs.

    Hey Mate,
    great respect for your opinion - well the love letter regarding P3D. As it is in love there are always pink happy glasses which make all look better and let us forget one thing or the other, but love is all you need… until … until… the breakup, the great storm… reckoning or whatever. IMHO even for professional use (the real one) the MSFS could have a shot, as the real software used in pilot training needs love, too (and not just an USB-Stick,much more) - but I digress.
    Never update… interesting idea (security needed xD). You got a point in long haul/wide body planes for MSFS 2020. The XP 11 and now XP 12 fanboys (users using several sims actively due to differences) just pay and pay to update to…. XP 11.25 or XP 11.5 whatever and should pay for loveless upgrades for in XP 11 bought planes.
    Furthermore, effort… tinkering… not everybody loves to do that or is technically able to; especially after paying at least 200 US$ for example for a loveless PMDG 747-400 and the “academic” license. Isn’t this the real sadness plus the ever in P3D missing open source community creating excellent planes? (Zibo or now FBW)
    Hmm, I never saw up/downvoted suggestions in the P3D Forum, which LM implemented step by step - MS did. So community suggestions are added in MSFS, if not, it is publicly explained why (or when).
    Did you ever saw regular livestreams of the LM devs monthly plus minus some weeks, I not.
    Why does my PMDG B736 costs 130 US$ for P3D (licensing aside) and 35 US$ for MSFS 2020? Btw same quality and no flight model problems (opinion of Boeing pilots)
    Before MSFS 2020… did P3D or Laminar of X-Plane ever try to open and create an SDK that easily adapting your programmed model for the other one of those is made easy? No, but MS did as PMDG just told anyone (so Ini and others did not have a real reason to leave P3D totally, even it is understandable).
    Why did P3D still ‘felt’ outdated (and not 80% like the MSFS sim nowadays - by far - and without any weather, graphic addons etc.) - like the sad state XP 12 is in at the moment - even before MSFS 2K20 was on the current state and extremely high priced? The number of players and potential sales isn’t it alone.
    My point is, LM had a chance to be different - professionals only, but they did choose not to. Love for third party devs was shrinking, community(?) was more or less a reduced to whales (online users with much money), LM decide what we need (interaction meh_… and that was the miscalculation. That is thinking of 2K5-2010 max. Interactivity is necessary if it is open to a wider group of customers. Even Airbus and Boeing have that in a way now (world, Apps and so on).
    Now the devs stop pr priorities MSFS as it is the future. Laminar has to be careful, not to be thrown under the bus (the CEO really gave an interview ua-cam.com/video/3dMSbCvKGtA/v-deo.html that - to exaggerate - even for VFR good landmarks are not necessary and graphics are unimportant especially in an Airliner for the customers … again he decides what others have to find good), too - as we need competition. Even Fanboy customers have a hard time with XP 12 and with P3D v5, too … only due to an humongous investment they use the later one from time to time.
    Today I would not recommend to anybody I like to pay about 150-200 US$ just to have a good modelled airliner for/in P3D (as I said besides “Long haul, wide in study now). XP11 is dead, officially… so … MSFS it is for PC user. Mac/Linux user who no nothing about VMs etc -> XP12.
    VFR/GA (as at least to install/download should be doable) also MSFS incl. improvement mods. For both base start 1€/$ plus a download (+FBW +Mod) for the software to test it (GanePass). As again real life pilots said that the GA flight model us really good. Hard to beat.
    The long haul, wide body will come (free study A380, buyable B747 & B777 already announced - Toliss A340 is rumoured, A330 and A350 should come “study unclear”) more to come. Small body A320 ceo and three B737 available (747 NGX -8/10 should cone, too).
    For me of all three sims (besides Mac/Linux) one has a bright future -> MSFS2020. XP12 a not so bright (Mac+Linux+Fanboys will help much to survive). Between those P3D needs a niche…artificial light … or it will become dark (and yeah pricing/licensing is a big factor for that).
    Cheers, thx for your time reading till here - answer would be awesome.
    Remember: a landing you can walk and not run away from, is a good landing.

    I really want to switch to P3d v5.3 because I’ve seen videos of the fslabs a321 sparklers and such and it just seems really realistic, to the sounds, the acars, the mcdu, and overall how this sim acts just seems more realistic to msfs. I counted everything up what I want and it’s $600!!! I own msfs and the Fenix, pmdg a320/737 and am wondering if it is a good investment to take the plunge or just stick with msfs. I get the impression sometimes that msfs is more of a “game” and xp and P3d are more of a “sim”. Id also like to invest in the tfdi 717 as that doesn’t seem to be ever getting developed on msfs. Please let me know!!!!

      @AdamJPestridge  Рік тому

      Hiya. I guess it really depends on why you want to sim to which sim you go for and invest your money into. Which ever sim it is, money will be spent on airplanes and airports. Some people will spread their money across many different platforms, which I feel limits the amount you can get for any sim. That’s why I stick to just one. Your assessment of MFS is correct although one thing to remember is it’s still in a beta state, so it’s not finished whereas P3Dv5.3 is up to a finished state for that version.so it’s really up to you and how serious about the flight simming you want to get. P3D will allow you to change it completely and replace everything. Whereas MFS will only allow you to change what they let you. Yes, visually, it looks stunning, although flight sim is a simulation of flight and not the Earth I feel. FsLabs are the best version of the A32 series currently on the market with more features than MFS will allow in the sim.

    Hi Adam, I think after watching you video, I will change from MSFS2020 to P3Dv5. One of the main reasons is that with MSFS2020 you can not save 3rd party plains in flight, like FBY-A320NX. So I will try my luck with P3Dv5.3 with FSL-A320-SL
    Many thanks!

    Why do some aircraft not show up even though they are in the simobjects folder? Even some default

    • @AdamJPestridge
      @AdamJPestridge  10 місяців тому

      Ive never experienced that so I can only think they dont show up in the menu because there is some file missing preventing it being picked up by the sim. Run a repair on the content to make sure you have all the files needed.

      Two ways. One, compile them with the current SDK kit or secondly edit the individual bgl files to enable them to work with PBR. The first way is easier.

      @@shaunsprogress if you are creating your own photo real using FSearth tiles, you will link assets of the SDK to the program. When compiling, they will be naturally graded for PBR.

    Other comments : as a real pilot I never,ever seeing dark cockpits like in P3D...why are those very important things never fixed or adjusted? I agree with much of what you say but with no hype.Thats unrealist,to me! Now,you say it can be photoreal ,but just like in FS2020 thats sat imagery based? I used FSX for years and years and when got my pla lic,retired my flightsim usage! Now I´m planning to go back to it but have serious doubts about either FS2020 or P3D (the latest,old core,old problems) things that I dealt with,with frustation in FSX,and then,still have to deal with in the year 2022? And tell me why FS2020 STILL does not have lights on cars,trucks,buses,etc? didint Asobo focused on visuals? Its a shame flightsims are NOT designed by pilots,thats why wee see these annoying unresolved issues!

    • @AdamJPestridge
      @AdamJPestridge  Рік тому

      I think you would find Xplane more to your standard and taste as that is designed by pilots. P3D relies on the user customising the sim to their taste. The base sim is that way purely to be able to get it complete to the user with the smallest file size possible, yet still giving them the whole world and not relied on internet for usage. Hence no live weather. It’s a training scenario tool to set up a flight as a training scenario, you set the parameters and make it the way you want. Time investment is needed to get it the way you want. MFS was purely designed for gamers and not serious flight sim professionals.
