You’ve outdone yourself yet again! Please Let Me Wonder is one of, if not the most beautiful compositions and arrangements Brian produced. The Dano 6 string really adds that raw crunch! Thank you again!
Thank you for this revelatory video. Hearing those sax parts is like finding long forgotten buried treasure. What wonderful gifts Brian left for us to discover and enjoy.
Wow. It's great to see someone who loves the genius of Brian Wilson as much as I do. I have just found your channel and have a lot of catching up to do. Thank you for your insights.
Great work. Been hoping for something like this for years now -- I mean, in general for the Beach Boys but especially this song! Thanks for doing it so well.
Some more 1960's bliss, but that vibraphone is definitely in the mix as well! You can hear it at the end of the original track playing a couple octave notes.
Terrific! I've never heard those moving parts in the sax section before...beautiful stuff. It's kinda similar to In The Back Of My Mind I think, with the block chord pads going throughout while one horn peaks out and plays something beautifully melodic as they weave in and out. Thanks so much for doing these amazing videos. :)
Very much in the same vein as Back of My Mind. I'll do the same thing with those in a few weeks and combine them with the string section (which I actually can play live with real violin and viola!)
What about the tack piano? That part is essential to the first verse. I recently recorded this song and I had to have that part. The saxes were super cool tho never really noticed them that in-depth
They're the stock Logic saxes from the "Studio horns" bank. They aren't terrible, but thankfully the days of having to use VSTs are over now that I have most of the sax family to play. Still need that Bass Sax though!!!!
so do you have access to the multitracks? how did you know the sax is in there if its inaudible? would love to hear their tracks A/B'd with yours. love your work by the way, just have so many questions
Here's a link to the whole thing. voca.ro/9MQl4g6UI5q I felt like it wasn't necessary to do that because I'd let so much of it play, but the people have spoken.
Hello, I love this! I'm doing a cover of this song, which led me to your awesome channel! Would you mind sharing your chord breakdown for this song? I've been chording it myself, but I feel like I'm not getting all the right chord tones. The chorus is giving me the hardest time! Some sort of F7 followed by a D7 followed by... Gm to a C9? Best wishes either way!
Joshilyn Hoisington, do you have access to the original multi-track tapes? If so, how did you manage that? Is this something we can hear somewhere? Thanks so much.
There are a few ways to think about it. I tend to think about it as a sort of 11 chord, but that's less theoretically sound. The simplest way to think about it is as a Ab6 chord with a Bb in the bass, but the best theoretical match would be something like a Bb 9 sus 4.
They aren't multitracks from the original recording, they are scrupulous recreations that I do myself with the end goal of education. I guess I don't always do a great job of making that clear.
Hey if you don't mind, what plugin did you use to get the vibrato amp? I can't find it on Amplitube 5. Are there any other plugins you recommend to get beach boy sounds?
Joshilyn, you are an utterly amazing person. I love this channel and hope you'll be back soon.

You're welcome! It is baffling that Brian didn't want those saxes a little louder.

You did a fantastic job breaking this down.

Wonderful insight! Thanks for all your hard work on this!
Wonderful. Thanks for that, and letting us hear how the various instruments helped to make up the bigger sound.
Absolutely brilliant track breakdown and performances. Fair play to you
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your sharing your musical and analytical talents. This music is sublime IMO and you show us how it is done.
Awesome Joshilyn, thank you so much for doing these!!
Hiii Missy, Byeeee Missy. Love her little cat slippers.
She is majesty embodied.
@@joshilynhoisington We are her humble subjects. Myeeow
Yeah...Really appreciate your hard work on one of my top 5 Beach Boys song. Very insightful. But, yes, I waved back at the kitty myself.

Hi Joshilyn, what vst saxophones did you use? They're really good! Thanks for all these breakdowns. They're fascinating!

Thank you, but I wish there was a full play of the track without any comments at the end, like you did with e.g. Do You Wanna Dance.

I do not have access, no, sadly enough.
Do ya'll know, if Brian ever used a Fender VI in his productions??
Unknown. Possible, but not probable.
@@joshilynhoisington thanx so much
This is great. Do you lay out what plugins your using in any of your videos?
I have not yet, but that is something I want to do at some point.
Hey, what's the final chord before the chorus? It's melting my amateur brain.i

@@joshilynhoisington So simple, yet I was baffled. Thank you. Please post the whole tune!
@@mskcrc I think it's a C11 (as opposed to Bb11). Joshilyn?

How did you get the sound of the 12 string guitar as well? Did you use a 12 string?
