You are the man! This annoying buzzing was driving me nuts. Turns out all I needed to do was tighten the sconces like you said.

I tried the easiest one first. It was just the light cover was loose! Very helpful and right to the point 😁

Mine is more of n electrical buzz, its a cheap cieling fan and rumor has it that the three speed circuitry is to blame, any ideas on that take?

Another thing to consider. In my fan, the capacitor had double sided foam tape to keep in it in place, but the sticky had failed causing the capacitor to rattle against the case. A little double sided tape to hold in down solved the problem.

Appreciate the tips. I've got a large ceiling fan in my master bed that's a bit buzzy when we put it at max velocity. I'm betting on the sconce. As a side question, when I was learning to remedy issues with a garage door, I found some bearings are entirely inaccessible with different models. Is that likely to happen with newer fan models?

What about the noise/ambient sound due to the blades pushing the air.... My fan motor is silent, its the blades pushing down

Our fan has a switch for the light and then another switch for the fan power and speed. The fan makes a roaring noise at every speed. (not a blade through the air noise, but an electric motor roar)
If I slide the speed switch through its range, you can hear the roaring noise change in pitch. (normally loudest as I pass through the mid point slowly)
The old fan made the exact same noise, so we replaced it thinking a bearing was bad. To our surprise, we have the same roaring noise issue with the new fan.
It is an old house with old wires and no ground wires, there is only one black and one white wire going to the switch box. The white wire is from a separate line from the black line. The switch has a black, a red and a red/white line to attach the wall lines to it. It had the black to black and the white to the red solid wire. The red/white wire is not connected to anything and the green ground is not connected (plastic box, so nothing to connect it to)
Also, the fan switch has an on/off switch and a slider to control the fan speed, in case this makes any difference.
It almost sounds like a motor that is trying to spin with not enough current or volts. (although the blades turn at a high speed)
The new fan is not a high-end one, (Hampton Bay $85) but I would like to think all new fans do not make this noise. It is loud enough to keep you from sleeping with it on.
Everything is tight, and spins freely. Everything mechanically looks fine. I believe this is definitely an electrical issue based on everything I have examined on it.
Any ideas on what may be overlooked?

I have one that buzzes. It’s an electrical buzz. Same frequency, regardless of fan speed.
It’s totally silent on low. Buzzes on Med and high. It has buzzed since new.
I’ve tried everything in this video multiple times.
It may be worth noting that if it’s started in med or high from a stop, the buzzing starts before the blades even start turning.
The fan has a built in “dimmer and speed controller” that is operated by a remote. I have it just wired to a regular switch.
    Any ideas? Bad motor capacitor?

I would strongly recommend removing the built in dimmer/speed controller if you can. Make sure there's still a capacitor left behind.
Those built in controllers are trash.

Good advice. Only thing, don't add oil to bearings, they need grease.

thanks, a little WD-40 on the motor worked 😏

I won’t get into the “WD-40 isn’t a lubricant” debate, but I can tell you with confidence that the WD-40 will dissolve and flush out the bearing grease.
Your fix may be short lived.
