The fans that wobble and tick are usually the ones you get at Home Depot for $100 to $200 in my experience I would recommend you at least spend $300 to $400 for a ceiling fan especially if it's sitting above your bed and has the potential to come down on you.
My Hampton Roads ceiling fan was clicking. The screws holding the fans blades on are 6 star design. Never seen it before and, of course, don't have a screw head that fits! Tried tightening the other screws that I could see, but nothing was loose. There is a clip holding the rod in place that could be the culprit - so I pushed it up to the point where it was tight. Turned the fan on and it still made the ticking sound - although a bit softer. So I reached out and pushed the bottom of the fan a little - and the sound stopped! Apparently it has something to do with the way the top ball is seated. Good video btw...
Was trying to take an afternoon nap but the fan kept clicking so I watched this. I suspected the ball join was not in the groove that you mentioned and tried to twist it into place and it dropped down right away. The clicking persists but is much quieter.
Is there any hope if it's definitely something loose inside the motor housing? I can't figure out how to open that up, at least without tearing the whole thing down first.
I tightened up screws on the blades(to the blade and to the base) and it didn't work. He mentioned jostling the poll around to see if it was out of it's socket. I grabbed ahold of the base and turned it tight left and it fixed things.
I have a brand new fan and it clicks. When I first turn it on, it's ok, but after about 5-10 minutes, it starts clicking. If something was loose, wouldn't it click as soon as I turn it on?
Installed a new fan, had a bunch of clicking, double checked the mount and it was the nut used to join the cables hitting the motor. Bent it out of the way, works silently now
I found the culprit of the ge phantom fan . The culprit being it's a piece of shit . Poorly made the fan motor is unbalanced even before the blades go on . The blade arms are not balanced .
hi VideoJoeKnows.. m also getting clicking problem like you when I put on supply to the ceiling fan. but the difference is it doesn't do rotations, as in its getting stuck with clicky noises. any leads on that?
My fan knocks like crazy. It has a bit of sway, but it's on a 3ft down rod. I was going to post a video to see if anyone could help. i knowthis video is older, but hopefully this message reaches someone that can help.... I'm going insane, and it's getting so hot down here in FL.. Thanks!
Are you serious? He’s not a professional actor! He’s a guy at a fan store taking his time to record and post a video for free that will help people. Gimme a break!
5 minutes on the ladder with the Phillips screwdriver and no more clicking! GREAT video!!
VERY HELPFUL!!! Followed the video and resolved the noise in one ceiling fan and did maintenance on the five.
We can put a man on the moon but we can't engineer a damn fan that doesn't wobble or tick. Effing fans.
fans are built to be affordable. the spaceship that sent men to the moon are not affordable lol
@@aldfjak True, but market a fan "No wobble, no ticking Guaranteed!" Charge triple. I'd pay.
Facts
Amen

I can’t sleep with ticking and i live in a hot area so I get most nights 3-4 hours of sleep cause of the fan

And if there's no down-rod and it clicks??
Didnt know Rob Schneider could fix fans
Useful information and to the point... Thank you
I have a new ceiling fan that has a single blade that seems to be rubbing in only one location. Should I try and bend the bald arm?
very good video. thank you
🎉Thank you it worked🎉
I found the culprit of the ge phantom fan . The culprit being it's a piece of shit . Poorly made the fan motor is unbalanced even before the blades go on . The blade arms are not balanced .
I'm also here for the GE Phantom. Lol. It's a beautiful fan. But sucks so much.
Very helpful thank you.

Nothing has worked I’m brining out the wd40 can.
Did it work?
@@MsToolay yea but it’s temporary, eventually it seeps away from the squeaky spot and you have to spray it again.
That’s an Emerson Premium!
I was so fed up with my fan ticking I hung some books from the fan
huh?
By the end I felt bad for the guy. I know when you lose your verbiage, and are trying to recover in the moment.
TLDR: Tighten all screws and tighten up all loose wires/cables.
and I've been living with this for 4 years! 🙄
Yes
Good video but why so many times does he take a deep breath and seem exasperated almost like "when will I be done with this" lol
Give the guy a break! He overcame his fears to present information for your benefit.
Because he's trying to help YOU by explaining ALL of the things that can cause this problem .... you idiot.... can u do any better???
