I don't even know where to start. I have always wanted a Galaga arcade cabinet of my own ever since I was a little kid. I would never pay the large amount of money to own one of the originals so when Arcade1Up came out with the Galaga machine for $299 I was all over it.........but was it worth it? Enjoy!

I was born in 71 so I feel even older. lol I'm glad I was around though when these classic games were fresh in the arcades. It certainly was a great time to grow up in.

I was 14 when Galaga came out 1981. My favorite game to play in the arcades.

Good review, thanks. The "golden era" arcade games are super nostalgic for me since I was Class of '84. That means that junior high was all about Space Invaders and Asteroids, and the in high school, Galaga, Galaxin, Defender, Centipede, Tempest, Donkey Kong and a few others. In those days, there was an arcade every dozen blocks in town (even right across the street from my high school), and they were the place to be on weekends.
We have a couple of Arcade1up cabinets and a couple of the partycades, each picked up on good sales days, and each reflecting the games my friends and I played. The "40,000+" game emulator packages are mostly junk that ends up being more about spending endless time browsing through junk that actually playing the games you love. In the arcades, the creme definitely floated to the top.
Having said that, I do enjoy playing some games on MAME using my high quality Atari "fight stick" that includes a trackball, spinner, and even pinball buttons. But I ultimately intend to use MAME for building some dedicated custom machines that demand specialized controls, such as Asteroids, Defender and Tron.
I got mine on sale and thought I would sell it. No way! This thing rocks and yes. It came out waaaay before I was born. I hug my Galaga machine.
I'm with you on Galaga. I'm now 50 years old so I remember this game so well, my favourite classic game ever. I wish they were available in the UK. Excellent video. Maybe they might find there way over here in the near future?? 👍

Arcade1Up is Not 100% Original to Arcade Version, Very close Rom and Artwork is used, the 100% is for the License
Now a $200-$300 Arcade Toy is That, Not a Real Arcade, not Suzo-Happ or Sanwa Parts not $3,000
Just the mechanicals are in the control deck. The CPU and hardware is in the little metal box attached to the back of the monitor (where you plugged in the power cable).
These machines look awesome, but as someone said, they need to step up their quality control. I've watched four-five reviews, and I've yet to see one without a defect.
Eeks Games yep used my game a dozen times and no sound and joystick has intermittent failures
@@james99118 I'm not getting any sound either and my wife thinks I didn't put it together right. I told her I did everything right, it's the machine.
One piece of advice for anyone yet to build theirs.......... Unscrew the plexiglass from the screen before you start assembly and clean both the plexiglass and screen.
My Rampage cab is full of dust and marks inside because I didn't do this.
My Space Invaders cab looks perfect now.

Great video! Nice editing! You’re just forgetting one thing, the plastic joystick dust washer to cover the hole where your joystick goes. you may have not seen it in one of the bags where the power supply was. I almost didn’t put it on mine either until I lifted the bag and the dust washer fell out. Hopefully you didn’t throw it away.
It came out the year you were born..damn I am old, I remember when this was the new game at the arcade.
Was thinking it might be cool to get the Street Fighter 2 cab - seems like a decent compromise for people who don't have the space or money for a full-size cab.
That said - $50 for a riser?
You could go to Home Depot, buy some plywood and screws for $12, some spray paint for $5, and easily make a suitable riser in an hour or two.
I Got this for my mom and she loves it! She played it constantly as a kid and still can't get enough of it. I personally have the Ninja Turtles cabinet. I have been very impressed with 1up so far.

I loved when I would go into my local arcade shop near me. COVID hit that place hard and it went out of business, so I’m looking to get one of these soon as a way to play.
Aww man Galaga takes me back to my younger days hanging out at the arcade or one of the local neighborhood stores. I played Galaga a lot lol, but my all time favorite arcade game is Robotron 2084. Have you ever heard of that game or remember it?

Dude these machines are easy to fix and troubleshoot. If any buttons not working it usually always a loose wire connection.
you dont think there is any emulation lag in the game,like when you fire it feels a little off? you think maybe like with your first control board mine may be messed up?
I like giving a thumbs up to anyone that takes the time to make a video for our benefit. Think how much effort goes into a video that gets 100k views yet only a couple hundred likes.
The letter A on the fire button is that something that came with the game or is it a sticker you can take off? It's a small thing but why ?
100% correct- It was more than a review since was not a review. BTW, if you do not get the protective overlay (that should have shipped with it) that pretty control panel artwork will wear away pretty quickly.
I’m really interested into arcade machines it’s just that Walmart is selling them for 300 bucks but I can get like a used xbox or a switch idk it’s just so cool to have a arcade machine tho

That slow motion intro was hilarious lol don't think it was suppose to be. It's a shame that you had paint chipped and scratches from your replacement! I had a slight scratch on mine but wasn't noticeable. Also my 2nd player joystick's down motion didn't work so they shipped me a new one...about 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received it lol I think what you should have done was swap the fire buttons from the new control panel on to the old panel and kept the old panel since it was in mint condition. Awesome video by the way!
I hope I get my machine eventually. Last time I ordered a machine from Walmart they wouldn't process my order, or give me my money back. I am giving them one more chance, because I got a good discount.

I'm going to get the Galaga 1.4 Quarter Scale arcade from NumSkull I can't wait until I get my apartment I've always wanted my own arcade machine the Galaga 1.4 Quarter Scale Galaga is in my price range I don't have the space for a Arcade one up I'm fine with the Galaga 1.4 Quarter Scale Galaga arcade cabinet.

in 1982 i had to ride the school bus with kids that had a pacman cocktail in their game room. thanks to arcade1up, now i have almost the same thing.. i love it.. besides the control panel wear

hey dude, I love your reviews... I got a request for you. Can you please review Audio-Technica ATH AD 500x or 700x. I am thinking to get it for Christmas but I'm not sure if I should get them over Sennheiser HD 598. Since I'm a uni student I don't have much money 😅😅. I got the crushers though and they were amazing but they have a horrible soundstage for gaming. Plzzz help 😭😭

i'm an expert at the arcade galaga, so i wanted to check it out.
i played it quite a bit at the walmart too.
1) the joystick is terrible, its too tall, and the movement just isn't right like the arcade
2) the button placement isn't right, the spacing is off
3) the sound is very bad, it has a constant hum, and clicking sound going on the whole time.
the controls aren't just as responsive as the arcade ones.
the 'no shoot' bug trick works on it, but i didn't try it. i played it on defaults.
i played to the killscreen on level 256, and the game stops, just like the
arcade version on the easy settings. i had about 3 million points.
i don't recommend the game to people that are sensitive to the controls,
because it just feels wrong.
for casual players, and people that don't mind the subpar controls and buttons its ok.
i would highly recommend replacing the joystick with a better arcade quality one,
and same with the buttons. otherwise, it just isn't enjoyable.

It on likelihood they will be the one doing a cabinet...its not about being stingy...they use the market place as a dermogrphic.money talks....

I love these things (I have 3) but my 12 in 1 is kaput due to the controllers quit working a couple days after I got it. 3 weeks later and I am still waiting..... Oh well.....
I grew up in arcades, and these are an utter abomination of particle board and garbage hardware. I don’t get who these are for, but they’re definitely not for anyone who wants even a minimum amount of authenticity. My giant tv combined with actual arcade parts are way more genuine than these turds.

Thousands of dollars? You can get a real Galaga cabinet for $500-$800. Arcade1Up has horrible build quality.

QC does not exist at this company. You are lucky only your fire button did not work... Your paint will rub in a few days too so there that. Do some research and you will see how many issues there are.
I can at least give them points for fixing my problem quickly

@Chris Cantrell don't speak on something you know nothing about. Arcade 1 up admitted they manufactured these machines incorrectly which is why they are giving out protectors. We have nothing to do with it. It's all arcade 1 ups fault

wislingsailsmen they’re replacing these boards due to crashing and other emulation issues. I’d have them send you a fresh one.
