In this video we take a look at my most recent 1 up arcade machines. Pac-man, galaga, and street fighter. along side the rampage and 'deluxe' cabinet these arcade1up's are the best onf the bunch.
Are the walmart arcade machines worth it? Should you get pacman or street fighter from your local walmart? Lets take a look, unbox, build, and play these machines!
You should put a couple in your office! The best part of arcade machines - other than playing them - is the little gameplay demo videos, and the scores, that loop while not playing. Could be some nice ambiance for your videos.

i worked on (correction) "the original old school" machines years ago, joysticks and buttons were sometimes connected to leaf spring switches or micro switches which needed cleaning. some prefer old school leaf spring.
if I'm not mistaken, arcade1up machines only came out this year

I know this comment is late, but to everyone who is saying they’d rather use a raspberry pi or something they could plug a usb stick into it clearly did not grow up in the 80’s. If not for the nostalgia, you might as well download it on your Xbox. These things are awesome! Especially for someone who has dreamed of an arcade but could never afford it. I just might have to start collecting a few. Great vid! Now if they could add a coin slot, I could throw parties and make some bank!
It's an interesting idea, but there never will be a model with a coin mech because they can't sell them with a functioning coin mech. If that was the case, these things would be popping up in actual arcades and other businesses and the controls would break all the time because they're not commercial quality. I have real arcade machines of mine own, but they're not out on location and I've never charged anyone to play them because it just feels odd.
Boogie deserves the arcade for the the struggles in the past and the hard working making this channel.

Pretty cool, but if you're up for an easy project, ETA Prime showed how to mod the street fighter cab to run a raspberry pi and change out buttons for better ones. with sticks I might add.

Thank you for your help, Boogie. I just purchased Galaga for my Father for Christmas. Back in the 80’s, he played Galaga and Galaga only. The same goes for today. So in the case of a person only playing one game my Father fits in. Thank you again! I can’t wait!

They are cool but read the reviews they have bad quality control issues.
Hi Larry I can't believe the UK has not go any. We live in Sydney Australia andmwife brought one for me for Christmas and it cost $500 from aldi EBgames sells them for $700 and in America there sell for $300 there are not cheap to buy but look good.
Cheap particle board, it's a fifty-fifty you'll have dust in your LCD screen, dead pixels, Street Fighter Cabinet has sound issues, and emulation isn't that great.
Love your enthusiasm. It makes me smiling man. Good detail reviews too. A time lapse video of the construction stage would have been interesting.

Looks really good! Reminds me of the bowling alleys of my youth. All that’s missing are cigarette burns and soda stains on the machines. Also scuff marks near the bottom from where people kicked the machines. Again, looks good, man!

I actually saved a lot of money by just getting a raspberry pi 3, a 19 in monitor, arcade buttons and joysticks and a tabletop arcade cabinet for a total of around $150. It's loaded with all those games from Arcade1up plus a whole lot more.

Yep, Arcade 1Up has confirmed at Mortal Kombat cabinet for March. I'm hoping we'll see a TMNT or Simpsons cabinet.

Actually Violent I don't really care about retail value. I care if it is fun. I care if they are fully accurate and accepted as legit in case I do get one or two of them.
I don't give a damn if they have resale value or not.
I have dreamed of being able to own a few arcade machines with the real games. Galaga, Street Fighter 2 and Donkey Kong are what I want. If I could get a Mortal Kombat 2 cabinet eventually, I would be excited.
But the reality is, I would need major money to buy them. Those 4 would easily cost between 5-6 thousand dollars for the authentic machines. I know, I have priced them from many different outlets.
I don't have that kind of money or room in my home either. But, to get them at this size for a few hundred bucks each, I could possibly get them. I just would want to preserve the artwork for a longer time period so that it stays looking as pretty as it should be.
Yeah, I know that Walmart is basically selling them for half the cost because they aren't selling as well because of the issues with the artwork and the spinner on that one machine. I am not going into this blind.
I might not ever get one. But maybe, someday I will.
That won't save these machines after 10 years. Watch a Real arcade machine I bought for $300 will outlast these things. Anyone want to place bets?
@@dragongamer2670 True. I bought (thru Craigslist) Time Soldiers, Rastan, and Aliens full size cabinets over 10 years ago for around $200 each, don't play them a ton, but they still work today.

I bought a large used Arcade cabinet for about $120, removed all the circuitry along with the crt monitor and installed a cheap PC that was about $100 and a LCD monitor about $110 and installed an emulator and now I have a arcade cabinet that can play all my favorite games at a fraction of the cost and space!

I have a MK arcade machine at home and...yes if you are a "regular/serious" gamer, the controls do not hold up. I t is worth the money but invest in custom arcade buttons if you are a 3 times a week gamer..Still it is way better than 2000 for a genuine one. I love arcade 1up
I read too many quality control issues with these and the graphics are not protected and will rub off.
Pac-Man and galaga are at my local Walmart, but expensive as hell

Did they send the acrylic covers for the pad area as well? From what I see at Walmart, the printed area on the game pad isn't that durable and will wear off in no time.
It's not durable, I was killing time while at a Walmart waiting on family member to pick up meds over Thanksgiving, and asked an employee about them, and he said soon as they took the display unit out of the box the printed area started to rub off, and I played the Rampage cab, and the controls honestly felt like garbage. these are nothing but overpriced, and poorly produced cash grabs, and they are using big UA-camrs like Boogie to push this BS!!

One thing about handhelds and such is the controllers fall short. The 1ups have recreated arcade controls.
The only arcade machine I ever wanted was Tumble Pop. Used to play it all the time at the pizza place near my school.

You can buy a driver for that specific LCD screen with HDMI, replace the buttons amd joysticks with better ones and stuff a Raspberry Pi with Recalbox in the cabinet et voilà. You can have every arcade game ever made on just one Micro SD.
I would get one to occasionally play and keep as a nice decoration

I understand your point cause that's what I'm going to be doing but there truly is something special about having a game per cabinet that is suited for it with a certain control pattern and matched with the really nice artwork on it. People do this to bring back childhood memories especially since there's no arcades with it around anymore. It's all about nostalgic reasoning more than anything really ! and the feel you get while playing although I still will be modding a cab with a raspberry pi myself because I certainly do not have the space or money for more than one.
If Nintendo agrees to do this they better make a Donkey Kong one.
Galaxian was the first arcade game witch was released in 1979 witch was so popular it spawns sequels the first squeals was Galaga Released in 1981 Followd by Gaplus in 1984 which added power-up items and juggling-based bonus stages Galaga '88 was released in 1987, published in North America by Atari Games, which featured branching level paths, new enemy types and multiple endings.

For us gen Xers that grew up playing videogames since their very inception, I have to say that I buy these machines not to play, but simply for the appearance and the atmosphere they bring to the room they're in while on attract mode. It literally gets my blood pumping as if I were 12 again stepping in to my local arcade I spent half my early teen years in. And as far as the price, when compared to things like "collectercade" or "Numbskull" miniature arcade machines of nearly the same price in some cases, I would much rather have a 3/4 scale machine that I could actually reminisce with as opposed to something I need tweezers and binoculars to play.
The yellow sides of the Pac-Man arcade cabinet are classic, and a work of art.
When you realize you can just buy one, and upgrade it, to have 1000s of games.
