They were filming a recruitment video the whole time I was in boot camp. So when our bus pulled up, a film crew got on before the D.I. did. He did his spiel, we got off the bus onto the yellow footprints, then we got back on the bus to do it all again from a different camera angle. Kinda killed the moment for me.
The DI’s didn’t yell at all. They all seemed tired as it was 0300. So it was very pleasant lol. My dad was a DI so I grew up like it was boot camp every day. Getting yelled at, getting smoked, and busy work was nothing to me
Ridicule my clothing? Man, I kept such a low profile in basic that like 2 months in, one of the drill sergeants asked me if I'd been there the whole time
I stepped off the AF bus at basic having shaved my very full beard into mutton chop sideburns, and was wearing a Star Wars t-shirt that said 'THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE'. No part of that night went well.
As a medic, I have become a big fan of the dump pouch. I use a fold-up one from Condor. Is it the best...probably not. Is it cheap and does it work well for me...yes. I don't use the dump pouch for magazines though. I use it to quickly store the medical equipment that I'm using. I work predominantly off the the body and try not to get into my aide bag, so if I take contact while I'm in the middle of working on a casualty and need to rapidly change cover, move a patient, or anything else that would require relocating, i can quickly store the medical equipment i have pulled out without having to re-index them into their designated spots on my kit. This allows me to free my hands quickly to get hands on weapon, move a casualty, etc.
Truth. I've found dump pouches so useful that their biggest problem is that they're always full when it finally comes time to do a mag change. I've started wearing a 2nd one. I'm military and don't use a pistol so the entire right-hand side of my belt doesn't need a ton...so I stuck a 2nd dump pouch on it. Whatever I'm working with, the dump pouch is a 3rd (and 4th and 5th) hand to hold it. Land nav? Maps and protractors go in there while I'm shooting azimuths. Long patrol? Extra food and water goes in there quite nicely. etc etc. I have one on the hip belt of my main pack too just in case I need it while hoofing it, and it's come in useful a thousand times.

There are far too many channels who say this is best or that is better just because they are receiving free stuff. You should be rewarded or compensated for the work you do with your channel after all you're providing a service, To the viewer and the manufacturers, but you're honest about it...and you don't HAVE to be. So thank you!
Working as armed security with almost exclusively indoors with pistols, I’ve got basically all my pouches and gear between 10 and 2. The few times I have a rifle, I do adjust some stuff back, because it means I’m in a more open area, and like the ability to distribute weight more
I did Basic in the '90s, stepped off the bus in full grunge regalia (flannel included!) 'n hadda hear about my hair. Later in training Sergeant Raines asked "Didn't ya used to have long hair? Well, keep this up 'n ya will again." I thought it was an insult until another sergeant explained that Raines was Delta, so it was a compliment, like I had potential to be a shaggy soldier.
@@Vinnytwotime So, "... ya will again" implying that if he keeps it up he will be kicked out, become a civilian again and be free to look like Kurt Cobain?
No the Delta Sergeant was implying he had potential to do SFOD, where grooming standards are less military and more near civilian so that way SFOD can have potential to infiltrate Hostile AO in countries as "Tourists "

Thank you so much for the tip on using a leg strap with a drop offset mount! I like long barrelled firearms and used to use a thigh rig but wanted to transition away from that. A standard belt mount sat too high so I went with a drop offset and the positioning was perfect, but the draw was horrible! Couldn't draw naturally because the holster would rock outwards and I just so happened to watch this video after an hour of practice and 🤦♂ solved a problem I didn't know existed. What would you recommend to someone with a smaller surface area? I’m short so it was like a lightning rod for my drills. Everyone also has a story about how they once carried/jumped a ruck heavier than me. As far as being afraid of girls, don’t worry, we don’t bite...hard... unless you want us too. 😊

Police Academy. Got yelled at for being the only Cadet wearing an olive green suit with brown shoes while everyone else was wearing a black suit with black shoes. The colors I chose were the colors of the agency I now work for and I thought I was showing my pride to have been selected... Yeah, not the best idea. LOL nice video!

Great belt so far. Thanks for adding the SOLID brass buckle. I Know of two major incidents of steel messing up some very sensitive nav. electronics, with expensive and time-consuming consequences. Buying my mechanical watch I had to ensure that the titanium was pure of any alloys as well as the coating: to harden the titanium and make shiny.
arod2104 whoa. Whoa now. I like to keep it gender fluid. Man sauces and the lady juices they can just flow...........so this one time we were in this bar in Bangkok and............
Hey this video was released on my 34th birthday! I arrived at CFB Dundurn Saskatchewan a day before basic, 17 years ago. They gave us all a pair of grey coveralls and made us pick up cigarettes butts besides the barracks until all the other recruits arrived.
My boot camp memory was not being able to stop smiling because I thought the DI antics were so silly. I could not stop smiling. The rest of boot camp my name was smiley.
Nick Kotenberg we had a guy in boot with last name Sailor. He wasn't the sharpest blade in the drawer, either. His screw ups made for some comical dialogue between DIs
Me and another dude could not stop smiling... then after black Friday we were in the same platoon... his rack was directly across from me and we couldn't make eye contact with bering lol.
I run a Safariland level 2 holster on my belt and the release nub/switch is underneath the trigger guard. It works so that when I draw my sidearm, my traffic finger hits the release instead of my thumb like yours, or my trigger finger as on most police issue holsters. I am VERY happy with it.
It’s not a vibe... it’s a lifestyle... as in, Lifestyle is a brand of condom, and Daddy Garand will never use one when he leaves his milky knowledge deposited deep within you...
I keep a pvs 14 pouch with rhino mount and elbow on my 4 o clock. Kind of essential to keep the serialized gear easily accessible, as well as secure. Also, my dump pouch is a must. If im running my 240 it’s where I keep my 7.62.
I stacked my belt with medical supplies. Being a medic it was helpful to have the extra. I ended up using it as a speed ball and dropped it for other guys when we had multiple casualties to take care of, I would keep my aid bag.
I’ve been searching for a nub extension my whole life! But seriously; didn’t know there was such a mod. My girlfriend was about to make me ditch my ALS because of how small that nub is. Thanks!
Thank you for not saying, “Orientated” but the correct “oriented”. I appreciate it. Also, I am happy not to hear other mystifying non-existent terms like “ambidextrious” which I hear in so many freaking gun videos.
Instructions unclear. Paused the video and looked at your crotch for 17 minutes or 5 full repetitions of Urge Overkill's classic love song Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon. Good content. Thanks.
Garand... you would be able to mount your chemstick pouch inside of the Snake Eater Tactical dump pouch without moving any other gear out of the way. I have their dump pouch on my war belt, with a single 5.56 mag pouch mounted inside of it. Highly recommend!
I happen to love Batman, so I pose a question to you sir....do you love Batman or do you just know how freaking hilarious it is to do the Batman mask in your videos.....or are you the real Batman??
There is an adjustment screw in the bottom of the Safariland rig to take out the rattle, if the weapon is too loose. I run an SLS/ALS rig at work, but I have a hood and a sentry on it, since I work around people that like to fixate on the weapon. I went basic in 1981, and was the first guy off of the bus. In fact, I was the only guy off of the bus. He said get off the bus, and I went through the side door as fast as I could, only to find that I was alone out there. Seemed like an eternity before everyone else came piling out. Luckily, there was a TI out there that told me to stand on the yellow footprints. We were rainbows all weekend, didn't get our pickle suits until Monday. At least I was wearing my aim high T shirt that the recruiter gifted me.
I had Dreadlocks when I enlisted. The Barber during Basic Training refused to cut it, so I went an extra week with Hair than the rest of the Flight.. I was the Guide, so I was in front of my flight all day every day. I got hell from the MTM's for those 2 weeks. I was "AB Bob Marley" my entire time. Good Times! PT was the worst, they took turns riding my ass.
Suggestion.....quick release straps from belt to bottom of plate carrier or what ever upper your wearing....we used to use suspenders back in the day keeps a weighed down belt from pulling pants down.... Protects again hot spots (blisters..etc) Keeps equipment from moving around or shifting Greatly assists when wearing a chute.. Etc etc etc...
Sir, you have just earned my subscribe. Only time will tell if you continue to make good videos, but this one and others indicate you put out some fantastic content. Keep up the good work, you've just earned yourself a new follower!
I like this setup. I have plenty of room behind the pistol for one of those short Kiwi pouches to keep a medium sized box of crayons to snack on! On a serious note, is there a reason you don't carry at least a decent small knife on the belt? Never know when you have to stab a THOT, engage in vigorous combat with an MRE pouch or tactically open your mail.
Navy boot camp, September of 2016, I decided that partying up until I went to meps was the best way to spend a summer. I quit my job at the scuba shop and partied every second I could. I showed up to boot camp with pink shorts, green Hawaiian shirt, slicked back long hair and a bad mustache. needless to say, I stood out.
The Emissary belt is the real deal. I ordered mine at the worst possible time and ended up waiting 7 weeks for it thanks to the hurricanes - it was still worth the wait. The material will outlast you. Plus real brass means you’re a real man, obviously.
Thanks for the high quality video. Cops wear all the gear on the front because of sitting in the car all day, and because when fighting a suspect it's easier to reach down to needed gear in the front than the back. When I see a rookie cop with a bunch of gear in the back I laugh.
Thus fella is a damm good instructor, I'm still a fulltime public servant & LEO instructors don't seem this informed & are way too complacent. Everytime we qualify, they never bring up our duty belts, or how we could be more effective. It's supposed to be an,8hour tour ,however they let us out once we qualify after a 2 hour lunch & claim 8 hours. We have to stay away from our duty stations & go to the pub ,or to our house,no traffic stops. Imagine if we actually utilized 4 hours of classroom instruction & 4 hours of tactical handgun practice?
It took almost a month for my Emissary belt to be shipped when at the time it was in stock and not a back order purchase...but over the last week of me using it ive been pretty happy with it.
Those were very interesting pieces of gear and I love your detailed explanations, but sadly many of us can't afford all the cool, tactical or professional level gear on the market. So, if you could do a video for people on a budget that covers new and maybe even old gear that would be a video many would like to see. I am sure as a trained and experienced soldier or operator that you can and would improvise with whatever you had or could get. As a civilian, as a prepper or survival minded person, such information and knowledge would be extremely beneficial as one may not always be able to afford or get specific or enough essential equipment in time for an event and of course we never know when an emergency is going to bite us in the butt and as if to say, "Ready or not, your ass is mine".
I agree with you fully. One thing to consider is just doing a ton of research. There is so much gear out there. Just like with anything else, some of it is crap. Finding quality inexpensive gear ain't easy. But you can find some good stuff used. It just takes some patients.
The PSA about VO2 at the end made it all worth it. Should have put it at the beginning so I didn't have to listen to the rest of your BS. Great video Mike was wonderring if you were going to do an update on your setup. Garand for President 2020.
Stepped off the bus and was given a PT uniform. Recruiter failed to mention that it would be the next day before we’d get running shoes so I spent the day walking around in PT shorts and western square toed boots. The DS had a ball with it of course
Right when we were getting off the bus filling those yellow footprints up, I had a polo shirt on unbuttoned, I was soon advised to “button that trash all the way up you!” Good times👍🏻 RAH!
Can you give me an example of an extended dump pouch? Sounds like something I could use. Sorry to ruin the comment section with boring legitimate questions btw...
Chet Manley I own a 5.11 one. Just interested in alternatives. The Blue Force bag that ticks away doesn’t seem very durable but I like that it only takes one column of molle space.

It’s not a vibe... it’s a lifestyle... as in, Lifestyle is a brand of condom, and Daddy Garand will never use one when he leaves his milky knowledge deposited deep within you...
The Triggerati
It's not homoerotic, it's big daddy thumberotic
B 65 you win. Omg bro😭😭😭
I keep a pvs 14 pouch with rhino mount and elbow on my 4 o clock. Kind of essential to keep the serialized gear easily accessible, as well as secure. Also, my dump pouch is a must. If im running my 240 it’s where I keep my 7.62.
That belt is not the only thing that is incredibly stiff at the moment.
Are u gay bruh?
😂😂😂😂
I like to run a Pez Dispenser and 17 Pez mags with a backup dispenser in my boot.
Only a rookie doesn't have a Pez dispenser. Stormtrooper Pez FTW
Mad man!!!
I stacked my belt with medical supplies. Being a medic it was helpful to have the extra. I ended up using it as a speed ball and dropped it for other guys when we had multiple casualties to take care of, I would keep my aid bag.
Perfect example of modifying a setup to suit your needs.
I’ve been searching for a nub extension my whole life! But seriously; didn’t know there was such a mod. My girlfriend was about to make me ditch my ALS because of how small that nub is. Thanks!
Ha ha... Don’t Pull out... Thant’s why I can’t buy as much equipment.
xw4 my favorite comment cause I can relate 😂 I have one on the way
If pulling out is right, then I want to be wrong.
25 with two kids...if pulling out is wrong...I’ve been a bad boy
Andrew Jeffords I’ll probably be in your shoes when I’m 25 haha.
19 and expecting my first. I’m sure more are coming 😂
Yea my pull out game is weak. No shame here. I use the kids as reasons to own a gas mask and lots of guns. Keeping my family safe!!!!
I bought a 6354DO and a new belt because of you, I hope you're happy. I know I am because this thing is sick.
"Love guns, afraid of girls" you need to make this shirt, I'll buy that.
Thank you for not saying, “Orientated” but the correct “oriented”. I appreciate it. Also, I am happy not to hear other mystifying non-existent terms like “ambidextrious” which I hear in so many freaking gun videos.
What? Ambidextrous isn't a real word or are you just saying they tend to pronounce it wrong?
Overall in the garandscheme of things, I appreciated this mix of crotch and batman shots.
I was wearing a Polo shirt, I was told "thanks for dressing up".
Instructions unclear. Paused the video and looked at your crotch for 17 minutes or 5 full repetitions of Urge Overkill's classic love song Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon.
Good content. Thanks.
Hahaha thanks
I've been running kiwis on both my belt and one of my Crye JPC carriers. Never had a retention problem so far. Good kit!
15:25 he cracked! Finally! I always wondered how on earth Daddy Garand was able to drop such edgy bombs and not crack up ; )
Refuge Medical has some great first aid/trauma kits, also offer a dangler to hand said kit from your chest rig or “war belt”…
How much does it cost to rent a chopper for one airsoft event Garand?
It costs my mom getting really mad at me
@Xerø i mean if theres a virgin in them then hes not really a virgin
Garand Thumb lmao! Love that sense of humor. Garand is my daddy.
Good day, sir. That MD369E rotorcraft you step out of was in Wayside, TX, but is now registered in Kona, HI. (K&S Helicopters)
A) Less crotch
B) Gonna be better
pick one
Devin Millford can I request more crotch?
More crotch. Mmmmmm
Complainer wanted less crotch bc well don’t ask don’t tell lol
Garand... you would be able to mount your chemstick pouch inside of the Snake Eater Tactical dump pouch without moving any other gear out of the way.
I'm not the gear reviewer that you need, but the one that you deserve.
Garand Thumb Agreed sir...well quoted!
Lauren Hagler I’m picturing Garand Thumb clearing buildings in Ramadi with a Batman mask on
Needs a snickers bar pouch.
My favorite part of this channel is garand thumb slowly descending into madness during the video 😂😂😂
Hmm...needs a crayon pouch.
Will Griffith just put red Crayola instead of the chem sticks
Rah!
Will Griffith bahaha lol
Will Griffith you mean an MRE dispenser?
I found the marine.
Suggestion.....quick release straps from belt to bottom of plate carrier or what ever upper your wearing....we used to use suspenders back in the day
keeps a weighed down belt from pulling pants down....
Protects again hot spots (blisters..etc)
Keeps equipment from moving around or shifting
Greatly assists when wearing a chute..
Etc etc etc...
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
alan jiang Are you saying he shouldn't drop those knowledge bombs on us so we can't overpower us?
*overpower him
*autistic launch sound*
NNNOOOOOOOOO!
Its not a story the jedi would tell you.
Sir, you have just earned my subscribe. Only time will tell if you continue to make good videos, but this one and others indicate you put out some fantastic content. Keep up the good work, you've just earned yourself a new follower!
Can you do a video on different back panels for plate carriers? Thanks Garand and Happy New Years to you!
tactical veterinarian good idea!
your shoot time and pull time is insane
I like this setup. I have plenty of room behind the pistol for one of those short Kiwi pouches to keep a medium sized box of crayons to snack on!
On a serious note, is there a reason you don't carry at least a decent small knife on the belt?
Never know when you have to stab a THOT, engage in vigorous combat with an MRE pouch or tactically open your mail.
For various reasons I did not include my defensive knife setup in this video. I can't always show everything.
Gotta keep that 10% to yourself. That’s how you stay on top.
But Garand, we need everything....
Henry Dietrich don't forget a whiskey pouch. Can't have crayons without the whiskey.
His pretty good standing out in the open and shooting paper, that doesn't shoot back. Am impressed.
Rick Noel would you rather him have told Lucas to go downrange so they could have shot at each other like real operators do?
Make a shirt that says "I like guns, but I’m afraid of girls"
Grim-Rythm love b
Grim-Rythm I want that one lol
True statement
Navy boot camp, September of 2016, I decided that partying up until I went to meps was the best way to spend a summer. I quit my job at the scuba shop and partied every second I could. I showed up to boot camp with pink shorts, green Hawaiian shirt, slicked back long hair and a bad mustache. needless to say, I stood out.
Nice and practical sugestions. I use a similar one, and works well, for exemple when i sprint or go to the ground.
The Emissary belt is the real deal. I ordered mine at the worst possible time and ended up waiting 7 weeks for it thanks to the hurricanes - it was still worth the wait. The material will outlast you.
Plus real brass means you’re a real man, obviously.
Glad you like it!!
I would never want daddy thumb to pull out 😉
Why am I slowly falling in love with this man???
This guy has more gear than I have time in the day.
Thanks for the high quality video. Cops wear all the gear on the front because of sitting in the car all day, and because when fighting a suspect it's easier to reach down to needed gear in the front than the back. When I see a rookie cop with a bunch of gear in the back I laugh.
“My couch pulls out, but I don’t.” - Lincoln Project neocons, talking about Afghanistan, probably
"never pull out!"
-Big daddy Garand.
It took almost a month for my Emissary belt to be shipped when at the time it was in stock and not a back order purchase...but over the last week of me using it ive been pretty happy with it.
Glad you like it. Their shop is small no doubt but puts out high quality products
I'm so envious of your ability to shoot, even full auto, without blinking even a little bit. How?
Lots of training and drifire will help
Been watching for a while, daddy grand's transitions and draw is gettin damn quick
Thanks fam
Garand Thumb Father Haley would be proud
Our basic started at 2am. Back in the early 80's that seemed to be the norm. Pitch dark and then taps from three different directions.
The PSA about VO2 at the end made it all worth it. Should have put it at the beginning so I didn't have to listen to the rest of your BS. Great video Mike was wonderring if you were going to do an update on your setup. Garand for President 2020.
Haahaha thanks man
Stepped off the bus and was given a PT uniform. Recruiter failed to mention that it would be the next day before we’d get running shoes so I spent the day walking around in PT shorts and western square toed boots. The DS had a ball with it of course
@ 15:07 Always pull out. You don't want to propagate a thot. That means less money and time dedicated to your training. And more headaches.
2018 Version but we still in 2017. Garand Thumb is ahead of his time.
Stepped off the bus onto the yellow foot prints, I just remember being yelled at that my fly was open.
I've have good luck with the HSGI or BFG dump pouches if you absolutely need one
Chet Manley I own a 5.11 one. Just interested in alternatives. The Blue Force bag that ticks away doesn’t seem very durable but I like that it only takes one column of molle space.
