oVertone Coloring Conditioner is made to deposit color into your hair while acting like a deep conditioning mask for your hair, and I was SO EXCITED to try the Chocolate Brown color. Buuuuuutttt it didn't go as planned.
While the Coloring Conditioner smelled amazing and left my hair feeling soft, it also left my hair looking red in the sun. This thankfully faded after a few days, but so did the rest of the color and now almost 2 weeks later I can barely tell that I even used it.
Was it a fun experience? Totally! But would I use oVertone again? Probably not. Especially since my container of Coloring Conditioner came a little busted up and once again, two weeks later, I still haven't heard back from their Customer Support team.
Have you ever tried oVertone?? What did you think? And should I leave my hair as is with blonde at the bottom or try finding another way to dye it brown?
Thank you so much for watching this video guys! If you want to see my vlog about when I dyed my hair blonde last summer check it out through the link below:

It’s lighter down at the bottom because your hair started as lighter at the bottom. the way it looks depends on the shade of your hair in the beginning
Chocolate brown hair color will always have a red tone in them, it’s what gives it the richness. I personally love warm browns!
Oh wow! Love the results 👌🏾 ..the colour is beautiful 😍
So cute! It’s almost an ombré. Thanks for making this.
I love watching videos of new products thumbs up hun💕💕💕
This was extremely helpful thank you! You were the only person who had a video for the chocolate brown. You should have bought the Espresso Brown though if you wanted a deeper color.
Your hair came out so nice ! Even though it didn’t come out as you wanted it, I love the ombré touch it added 😻
Aw tysm!! It took me a second to get used to it but once I did I fell in love! 🖤🖤
I’ve never tried that brand before either! You’re hair turned out such a pretty colour 🌟
It was so much fun! And tysm you are so sweet 🖤🖤
this turned out to be so pretty!! the color is so beautiful!!
Thank you!🖤 You are so sweet!
I have never heard of oVertone but it is a really cool process! It turned out really nice although it wasn't all the same color it did darken the blonde :)
this was such a good vid! loved the end results!
The sign in the back is everything 😂💕
Your hair looks fabulous! I'm loving it!
Aw tysm!!🖤 You are so sweet
Your hair turned out really pretty!!💕👌🏻Let’s stay connected lovely!💛
hey! so interesting fact: when your hair is super light, even if you put a dark brown on it, it will turn red which is why it’s common for hairdressers to actually fill the hair first THEN put the brown :) so i’d definitely give it another try because your hair was just too porous for the color to properly deposit!
Uh no. If you put dark brown on supper light hair it turns green. That's why stylists fill the hair with red pigments before dying it brown.
Michelle L. i had mine done incorrectly and it was very light red/orange, maybe my hair reacts differently! regardless hair should be filled first :)) 💛
Michelle L. It depends on what undertones the shade of brown you’re using has. I’ve had both orange/red and green/gray happen to my highlighted haír when trying to darken it. A neutral filler is an option, and toners (or toning shampoo or conditioner) can be used to correct if you still get unexpected results.
such a good review video! i loved seeing the results!
Thank you! It was so much fun to film and try out 🖤
Uhhh love to try new hair things... never heard of this brand before.. need to try it asap 💟💟
Overtone is a semipermanent color, so it just lays over the top of the follicle. It involves no developer, therefore it is going to turn out differently on treated hair. That's not to say demi and permanent colors won't also turn out differently on treated hair, however they are more likely to look even.
Your new color is excellent. Don't use traditional hair dye. I got into using it all my life and it gets old really fast. You're totally dependent on it forever. This new color is very becoming on you. It's subtle and looks totally natural. Your lighter ends give dimension instead of it looking flat and dull like regular permanent dyes do. And permanent dyes are toxic and ruin your hair.
Wow!! Looks like i defo need to try this 😱 I loveee your hair x
Tysm!! 🖤🖤
loving your curls!! I've never heard of this brand but going to see if it'll work with my coily curls!
Thank you! You are so sweet 🤍 And you totally should!!
Would be interesting to see if you did it a second time how it turns out? 🌸
Your hair is so gorgeous. I love it’s curl
Aw, tysm!! You are so sweet🖤
Love this!!
Thank you for this video! Can you tell me how long it took to wash out? Did it ever completely wash out before coloring again?
Never heard of this so thanks for sharing!
That does sound nice a coloring conditioner. Those IG ads are always eye balling my as well with makeup 😂💕 love the chocolate brown color.
I am such a sucker for IG ads 😂Thank you so much! I have been loving my new color🖤
Have you thought about adding some blue to the orangey-brown that the overtone offers in their browns?
How long did the color last? I found your video because my hair is similar to yours (dark blonde with light blonde highlights) and I was considering trying brown. Thanks for your video!
Never heard of this so thanks for sharing stay connected
great to see this review
Aww your hair colour looks good on you!!
Aw tysm! It was so much fun to dye 🖤
I think it turned out really cute!!
Thanks Anita!! I have been loving it🖤
Greetings! Just a heads up ( lol) you can use Overtone's
Daily conditioner ( whenever you wash your hair) to maintain...tall bottle.
Also, I find Espresso brown to have a lot of red... seems the Chocolate Brown does also?
Your hair looks nice and the Daily Conditioner ( only takes 3-5 minutes) will probably help you get to a deeper tone easier and you can just add it to the bottom of your hair or where needed. If your shower or bath tub is white... cover with a bathtub or shower mat.
Nice video!
The color is so fab 🤩
Thank you!! 🖤
Did the color fade back to your blonde you originally had? I have dyed blonde hair and want to use brown just for a change that isn’t permanent but I don’t want to ruin my blonde!
Your hair turned out great.
it looks very nice you look fab xxx
Your curls are 💣! I’m working on rejuvenating my own curls...this hair color product is interesting. I’ve thought about going blonde recently but I’m worried it would make it super dry.
Tysm!! It's been a journey to loving my curls 🖤 You should totally try blonde sometime! I had so much fun trying out a new color for my hair.
Did you shampoo it out or just rinse...will shampoo take it out?
Hated mine. I got the rich black and it turned my hair purple n pink 😭 never again. Mine came exploded also, I think it ruins the dye.
You're supposed to follow up with the color conditioner in the bottle every other time you condition after shampooing. It's not supposed to be a one time thing. You just keep it up in the shower after you initially use the tub.
Used the chocolate brown last week on my very blonde hair and it legit turned my hair bright orange. It’s actually insane how not brown my hair is right now😂
It’s supposed to be temporary, does it actually wash out ??
Gen Chem to 57k views on UA-cam? Wow! Way to go 😁
I beber try this one 😁hello with love my friend 👍🏻best wish for you 💖
I love overtone! Leave it longer than 15min to get a better outcome.
What color was it ?
I love the colour that your hair turned out I think it’s to pretty. Shame it’s not chocolate brown how you wanted it though. 💕
It was a little bit of a shock for me at first but once I got used to it I started to really love it!! It was so much fun and not a color I would have otherwise tried lol 🖤
I am using overtone right now.BUT, the craziest thing is the spelling of your name. My oldest daughters name is BROOKLIN too! Same spelling
ik you didn’t try but it’s like pretty natural highlights i love it
thanks for the video!
you have very pretty hair, love it.
Thank you so much! 🖤
Great blog.... Truly 💕 enjoy ur chanl... Tnqqq for saring my frnd
FIRST VIEW, COMMENT, AND LIKE!!! HI BROOKLIN!!! I LOVE YOU!!!
LOVE YOU TOO JESS omg you're amazing 😂🖤🖤🖤🖤
I like it. It looks two dimensional, like you have highlights or a balayage.
Ive tried this stuff a few times. It always turns out amazing but I have to make sure I DRENCH it in the product and then I leave it in for an hour.
I usually wrap my hair in saran wrap and a shower cap and leave it for as long as possible (last time I did around 5 hours coz I was doing household chores 🤣). Worked great.
@@ems0160 That's what I did! But I left mine on overnight sleeping and rinsed it out in the morning.
If you do it more than once you will get a darker color. There are multiple uses on the jar.
You have to fill your blonde areas with red before using your color conditioner
Beautiful.
Aw tysm!!🖤
I love it.
i have a platinum blonde, i want to dye it ginger but don't want it to stain my hair, does it fade well and how long did it last?
I've used Overtone for a few years now and I love it. I have bleach blonde hair I use the extreme rose gold about every 2-3 weeks depending if I keep up with the maintenance in between which is pretty simple. You just have to use the daily conditioner in between and the color will last longer. I noticed if I go 2 weeks without using the daily conditioner, all the rose gold washes out and I'm back to my blonde. Which I love cuz I can change colors in between. -from one Valerie to another.
They there. I started as a golden blonde and I use their ginger line. It stained my hair. It does fade nicely though! If you want super vibrant depending on how often you wash you might want to reapply every 2 weeks but I haven’t redone the color in a little over a month and it’s still ginger. It’s faded for sure but still a light ginger. Hope this helps!
you can leave it on for longer
Never heard of that, came out pretty though 💕 how long does it last?
Tysm!🖤 It is supposed to last for about six weeks and has been holding up well so far!
Brooklin & Joe Lee Thank you 💜
i did the chocolate brown in my virgin blonde hair and i look ginger now! how can i speed up the process of it fading? i’m freaking out lol!
Oil treatments?
Ooou cool🔥
Maybe that product is meant for a day use? Does it have a huge variety of colors?
They have all the colors of the rainbow! It said on their website that it was supposed to last 6 weeks or 20 washes, so it's definitely a short term dye but I guess my hair just didn't hold it very well 🤷🏼♀️It was still a super fun experience though, and now I know! 🖤
@@brooklinandjoe The color is meant to last that long because you were supposed to use it every other time you washed your hair for several weeks. This is in the directions and on the site. I believe the company is mostly closed down right now.
Hi Brooklyn 👋 I like your new hair color looks pretty on you 🤗
Hi! Thank you, you are so sweet! I love it🖤
Hair dye won't make your hair an even colour unless you use a different one for the top and bottom - or leave it in for different periods of time. Still... I can't see how you can do that yourself without it looking similar to this. Please make a video on it though as I'd love to see that.
Doesn’t look like you really, really saturated your hair enough. Especially the blond ends. I feel as if you could have used the entire jar and really gooped it on especially the blond. Also, let the blond part process longer. You always need to consider the color (or colors) of the hair your going to color. Even permanent color may look different on the blonde parts vs the darker roots. If you want your hair to be one tone, I’d recommend going to a salon.
You don't have to use a lot, but you do have to redo it every other time you wash your hair.
Hi new here let's be con. Amazing content I like it enjoy watching here. Thank you for sharing.
awesome
OMG she should have gone for rose gold in her highlights!!!
Wow so your hair went back to blonde?
You have to keep using the Overtone to get it to a deeper color and to keep up the color. I don't really like how she's portraying it as somewhat defective, when she didn't follow through.
The hair looks stiff tho, no?
It actually was pretty soft still! I accidentally put in too much hairspray when I was curling it after I washed everything out because I wanted to finish the video before the sun set so I didn't lose my light 😂So it does look a little stiff at the end but it left my hair really smooth and soft afterwards🖤🖤
lol...they give the cheapest gloves possible. Can avoid getting pigment on your ears, hairline, and neck by applying vaseline before the dye process.
I’ve seen that the more you apply it, the darker it’ll get!
That’s actually so nice to know!! I still have half a container left so I’m definitely going to try applying it🤍 Thanks!
Brooklin & Joe Lee also the longer you leave it in the darker it will be as well because you give it more time to deposit color!
Nice video Vlog My Friends Beautifull
this Video very interesting....
