5:52 One day in Wily's lab: "At last! I have created the ultimate weapon - a robot that can harness the power of tedium to bore my enemies to death!" "I hope this works better than that robot you made out of instant-death spikes." "How was I to know it would try to scratch an itch?"
It's great to see you finally getting back to Mega Man; the intro was a nice added touch. Regarding the Big Eyes, I remember getting pretty good results by simply getting close and then turning around and retreating just ahead of them while waiting for an opening. If you stay close, you can reverse and duck under them as soon as you see them do a high jump. It works pretty consistently if your reflexes are up to the task.
Looking back at this, it's a blessing they made the Yellow Devil take 2 damage from the buster. Otherwise the fight literally could have been twice as long.
28 times *minimum.* Remember, the highest eye placement exists. And I'm fairly sure with so many opportunities it would happen at least twice, only less with RNG on your side.
Holy shit, I didn't even remember I had commented here with my alt account. I was so bad at Mega Man (and English), and now I'm doing perfect runs just like RoahmMythril... Time flies, shit happens.
In my opinion, Yellow Devil is very hard the first couple times playing through. However, afterward a few times, you realize he has a simple pattern. Plus there's also the Thunder beam trick. So... yeah, he is easy as long as you pay attention to his pattern.
Sheesh, I never really played the original Mega Man but thanks to this video I have the Yellow Devil's pattern memorized. Jump wait jump wait wait jump wait wait jump two wait wait wait jump wait wait wait jump wait. And great to see more perfect runs! I like all of your videos but these are really where you're at your best!
@iriis1 : CONTINUED 8. Goronade. Pretty hard to predict, and takes a lot of shots to finish off. 9. The shears in Hornet Man's stage, they're just so quick. 10. The Keeper, specifically the second version that has the electricity around the goal.
You hit the nail on the head as to why people wanted to see Yellow (Orange?) Devil PR'ed. It was one of those things I honestly didn't think was possible. Maybe it was nostalgia, or we all were so used to the Thunder Beam Pause Trick that we couldn't imagine doing it without that. I'm sorry I doubted you, O Great Dragon.
@pCrowles7 : At least all the official ones, yes. Probably not fangames unless they have easy ways for me to get to each fortress stage whenever I want, either saving between stages or a time trial mode or what have you. I'll be working on these as sort of "between projects" things, like do a major project, then a few fortress stages, then the next project, then more fortress stages, etc.
Amazing as always Roahm! And loved your response to my email. You are soooo right about Ninja Gaiden. Keep up the awesomeness dude! :) You got me starting on LP projects now. You are an inspiration bro!
I love the comic book treated the time you get into the wily Castle, is a good reason why mega man uses the super arm to break through the wall, he couldn't find the door! As for this I love how you pointed out the obvious thing about the yellow Devil it takes forever!
9:15 - I'm so with you there T~T I hate the sound of his saucer so much Dx So nice to have so helpful glitches sometimes XD Oh, yellow Devil is so tuff if only using the Mega Buster Dx
I'm trying to get Mega Man 1 completed but I just can't do the final stage, I don't have the reaction times for it. Getting old is a pain in the backside. I really need to muster the motivation to keep trying, I'm determined to get that game finished.
You can do it brother! I just beat the game as well, although i used the pause glitch on the yellow devil, everything else was done by practising skill!! Don't know how old you are, im 26 and i did it haha.
I'm female, in my late thirties. It was a tough challenge even with almost thirty four years of gaming experience. I managed to complete Mega Man 1 and 2 within hours of one another a few months ago, just trying to muster the will to play MM3 and the rest of the Legacy collections now
Yeaaaaah, honestly it is pretty questionable design, definitely a case of "first game syndrome." It's why most utility items in later games were essentially force fed to you for defeating certain bosses. There were exceptions here and there, but generally just items that weren't necessary to finish the game.
RoahmMythril I bought the collection on xbox one. And I'm not enjoying the first game at all 😂 I've beaten mega man 8 before and liked it. So that's why I got this. Anyways, now I've done all the work, and got back where I was. And I'm currently fighting that one eyed giant orange boss. Which is by far the hardest most annoying thing I've ever fought. Assuming you've played the other games, are they this difficult and questionable?
I totally agree. Also consider that, when playing it back in the 80s without being able to search in the internet, you high likely will be completely clueless what to do at all. Unless there's some mentioning in the manual which I don't own myself. But seriously, the game doesn't really tell you very well about the magnet beam. And that item is easy to forget - especially if you do Elec Man before Guts Man which basically has a 50% chance to occur.
I remember how HARD he seemed the first time I ever got to him as a little kid! Watching you reminded me of what I used to say in my head (once I was used to fighting him) when I was jumping over his parts- "One, two, three, AND! One, two." *The "AND!" was where you jump two parts... Good times.
@PrvXDevil : I'm not going to be doing BN4 for quite awhile. BN3 just took so bloody long, I want to have a more productive year or two before I get bogged down in another BN project.
M is the Magnet Beam. You find it in Elec Man's stage, you need either Super Arm or Thunder Beam to get it, as it's behind some destructible blocks. I skipped it during the original Elec Man Perfect Run since originally, a) I had no plans to do the fortress stages, and b) it would have required a Robot Master weapon, which I was making a point of not using.
@metroidfannumber1 : No, it took me less than a week to do this. I just honestly didn't feel like doing the Wily stages until now. I just tend to find the Robot Master stages more interesting overall, but now I was in a mood to play more Mega Man.
@barryorange : I'm pretty sure I have it around on my system somewhere, basically I just like the Rockman title screen more, and for some reason on the original, the colors look brighter to me on the Japanese version as compared to the US version. I don't know if I'm just imagining things there or something, but the reds for example look lighter and more like they should.
@Isaiah muniz : Because these videos are sort of a challenge run. The Perfect Run rules are that I am not allowed to take damage, and unless necessary, I am not allowed to use Robot Master weapons or utilities. Only the buster.
Comparing your videos now to the videos you did for MM1 when you started, you were much quieter back then. It's nice to see that your voice quality in your videos got louder. You're like the reverse of Duo :D
Lmao! The second time you fought the yellow devil was AWESOME! MAN did that say revenge. I knew the Thunder Beam was the weakness, but I did NOT know about the glitch.
In mega man maker, footholders are more friendly. Only the green ones shoot, the orange ones are friendly like the grasshopper things from Bright Man’s stage.
I thought Mega Man 2, at least, had the Select-to-pause option, but without the glitch option. Anyway, glad to see you going through this proto-Skull Castle!
I actually have a question, do you post-commentate on these Perfect Runs, or do you commentate during your playthrough? Because I'd imagine for Perfect Runs you'd need as much concentration as possible. But if you commentate as you play, then major props to you!
@kamikaze9699 : Basically I just find the Robot Master stages far more interesting, so that's where my real interest was. But with no new Classic games on the horizon and a desire to play more Mega Man, well, there you go ;)
Good sir. Megaman And Bass. R.I.P. Roahm Mythril's patience "Thank the gods above it is dead, for the inhumane torture it has had to suffer was far too great."
I used electricity on the yellow devil originally just because it was easy to hit that tiny red eye with it. It just happened to be the most effective weapon in terms of damage, also. I love finding out things by accident.
There's a weird looking item that looks like it might just be there for decoration when you're about half way up the section where you have to choose the left or right ladders. Use Guts Man to open up the wall by moving the blocks.
The Yellow Devil sucks to fight regardless of skill level. Extremely adept players find it boring and tedious, players who are less so find it annoying and difficult.
Nope, it's impossible to get through without the Magnet Beam, so you have to run yourself out of lives, go back to the stage select, and back to Elec Man's stage to pick it up. It's.... kind of a bit of bad design on their part, one of those "first game syndrome" things.
5:52 One day in Wily's lab:

"I hope this works better than that robot you made out of instant-death spikes."

You got balls and insane amounts of patience to do these runs without any powers :)
It's great to see you finally getting back to Mega Man; the intro was a nice added touch.
Regarding the Big Eyes, I remember getting pretty good results by simply getting close and then turning around and retreating just ahead of them while waiting for an opening. Looking back at this, it's a blessing they made the Yellow Devil take 2 damage from the buster. Otherwise the fight literally could have been twice as long.
Sitting through that 28 times...dear grief I don't want to think about it XD
28 times *minimum.*
Remember, the highest eye placement exists.
And I'm fairly sure with so many opportunities it would happen at least twice, only less with RNG on your side.
this is why you use the elecman Pause glitch
@@ChillstoneBlakeBlast a blessing
'I don't know why everybody wanted to see this.' Revenge. Watching somebody else maul him absolutely is catharsis.
Man, how did you dodge all of that without taking damage? Impressive!
I present dot point Number One on Roahm's resume:
- 10 years experience in everlasting peace without getting hit
I did that too after getting killed continuously for 2 weeks straight I cleared the whole game no damage .....
no way. muscle memory out the ass
fond memories of finally beating this boss as a kid. we called this guy Mudman back in the day.
i can't play this game withouth save states, I'm not very patience
*patient
OniLordMiki lol, and that's why you wanna make an english course if you're brazilian
Holy shit, I didn't even remember I had commented here with my alt account. I was so bad at Mega Man (and English), and now I'm doing perfect runs just like RoahmMythril...
Time flies, shit happens.
lal
i use the save state after defeating a robot master.
but i use the save state just before yellow devil because that battle is so FUCKING hard ._.
Same
This makes me happy. :D
Thanks for returning to Mega Man!
WHAT!? PERFECT RUNS ONCE MORE!?
I never thought this would happen....Yet, I adore it...Thanks, sir!
UA-cam decided I needed to return to the past.
thx man, you inspired me to come back to this game and beat the yellow demon. My soul can rest in peace now
8:21.
Oh, goodness. I was about to mention that after you said 'your special eye', but then you went and did it for me.
Thank you. That was hilarious.
Roahm: *kills big eye*
Me: *uses ice slasher*
"MY BRAND!"
I died
I don't get it.

When Yellow Devil was defeated.
@RoahmMythril Nice intro man ^^ And wow I didnt realize how many projects you did thats a lot O.O
Impressive gameplay as always. I'm glad to see a return of the Perfect Runs. I look forward to seeing the rest of the Wily Stages!!
I like a lot how you start the video with song of time nostalgia
Ikr 😌😌😌
In my opinion, Yellow Devil is very hard the first couple times playing through. However, afterward a few times, you realize he has a simple pattern. Plus there's also the Thunder beam trick. So... yeah, he is easy as long as you pay attention to his pattern.

I love the intro. Good job on the level!

Good old Yellow Devil this boss used to be so hard for me as a kid now i can perfect him like you
I love your perfect run videos dude
You actually decided to face the Yellow Devil, buster only. You mad dragon....
Good luck with the third stage's boss!
for the look of wily first fortress check the game concept art
Roahm...that intro was just perfect ! A very nice little retrospective ;) Im pretty excited about these runs. Thank you for doing them :D
12:20
It doesn't so much "reset onscreen hitboxes" as it does "fail to pause post-hit invincibility counters"
How come this is the most viewed video on the channel? People coming back and forth to hear the Zelda music?
9:10 And that's why I decided to do MY Perfect Runs' intro on the first take, then sneakily splice to the successful one once the level starts.
@RoahmMythril Doesn't Big Eye kind of look like a killer telephone to you? It does to me, at least.
It....... kinda does, now that you mention it.
....I'm not going to be able to unsee that, am I?

OH, the Wayback Machine! Thanks for clearing that up.
Yes! This is the track i was looking for.
I can't seem to avoid his damn knees! oh I'm so spoiled with slide on megaman 3
Oh heck yeah the return of these!
How exciting! I started watching you a few months ago, and now I can follow along as you return to your roots :)
HUGE props to you, I hated the yellow devil and I can't imagine doing it on a perfect run myself.

@PrvXDevil : I'm not going to be doing BN4 for quite awhile. BN3 just took so bloody long, I want to have a more productive year or two before I get bogged down in another BN project.
At 2:30 I see one more ability (the "M" one) than I have up to being at this level. Why is that?
M is the Magnet Beam. You find it in Elec Man's stage, you need either Super Arm or Thunder Beam to get it, as it's behind some destructible blocks. I skipped it during the original Elec Man Perfect Run since originally, a) I had no plans to do the fortress stages, and b) it would have required a Robot Master weapon, which I was making a point of not using.

fuuuck. made it all the way to the final room and don't have the m power up. how do I go back to the main. title without resetting ?
Yay! I missed you and your megaman series' *tears of joy*
4:25 When I got to this part, I didn’t have the platform ability and I don’t know how to acquire it ...
The Magnet Beam is found in Elec Man's stage. You'll need Super Arm or Thunder Beam to get it though.
RoahmMythril Elec Man’s stage was the first one I played -_-
Well, now I have to start over.
Another fun video! I'm looking forward to the next Wily stages, as well as your very insightful videos about them.
@Isaiah muniz : Because these videos are sort of a challenge run. The Perfect Run rules are that I am not allowed to take damage, and unless necessary, I am not allowed to use Robot Master weapons or utilities. Only the buster.
@Pyhankoski : I'm using the keyboard for this. I'm pretty used to it from playing games on my laptop during boring lecture classes ^_^;

EXCELLENT job on this. I've worked on this FOREVER.
Aw man I didnt get the M power up before coming to this stage and getting stuck...

8:14 - 8:22 YES! THANK YOU FOR USING THAT REFERENCE!
@andrewsallee : Yeah, the Wily 1 music is to this day one of my favorite Wily themes.
If you don't mind answering, I know you're a fan of this series, so what do you think of Pokemon X & Y so far?
I hate the fire steps... Can't get past them, although I found out I could freeze them, but doesnt help. 2:42
Okay, this is too amazing. Gotta share it with GeminiLaser, if that is okay wit you, Roahm.
That was actually my favorite music from the entire game. :-)
If its not recorded from a tv in a Mintendo its most likely saved states.
Although those videos do show dedication and lots of time to kill
that intro was brilliant.

Whats i need to do in this case ?
The Magnet Beam is in Elec Man's stage, but you need either Super Arm or Thunder Beam to get it.
love that intro roahm!
Happy b-day to me you uploaded it on my b-day THANK YOU RoahmMythril
can anyone please tell me at 4:25, where will i find the ''M'' weapon? thanks
There's a link in the video info showing where to get the Magnet Beam, I did it in another video.
Thank u very much
@roahmmythril Are you ready for wily capsule 7, dragon boy?
i am happy to see the perfect runs back :)
What happens if you get to this point which magnet beam is required, and not having the magnet beam? Is this possible?
Nope, it's impossible to get through without the Magnet Beam, so you have to run yourself out of lives, go back to the stage select, and back to Elec Man's stage to pick it up. It's.... kind of a bit of bad design on their part, one of those "first game syndrome" things.
@@RoahmMythril Oh my, that's really a horrible design for a utility that is only really required to use once in the whole game...
True. But Roahm did said he wasn't going tackle it at first because nature of the fight. So I never thought he was going to change his mind...
OMG your patern is so much easier, you evade 2 blocks in a row in the 4th jump, I used to evade them in 2 jumps and it was definetley MUCH HARDER!
You know it really is a miracle that the Yellow Devil takes 2 damage from the buster. Most Fortress bosses aren't like that after all.
