And thus, Wily's least threating castle has been conquered... well, least threatening apart from a few key areas. Nicely done, Roahm. The first three MM games are completed all the way through. It sure did add the maximum challenge the game could offer, so awesome work.
the song for the outtakes... why did you make me feel such sad nostalgia from Sonic Adventure. Anyway good job on finishing up the third game for good.
Ooooh, Silent Hill Origins^^ I actually never saw an LP of that yet, very excited, I am XD. Also congratulation for defeating Mega Man 3^^ This was a fun run to watch^^
@Garret Baldacci : I'm not going to be doing BN4 for awhile yet. Probably not even next year. I really want to get more projects going on my channel before being bogged down by another BN game, they take a long time to LP.
@VezonZone : I have no plans to do any hacks currently, romhacks overall tend to strike me as more "difficulty for difficulty's sake." What I've seen of 4MI strikes me this way. It has some interesting ideas, but just looks frustrating. As for 8 Bit Deathmatch, I'm not really good with "keyboard and mouse simultaneously" type controls like that.
Congrats on finally conquering Mega Man 3! It may not be as tough as Mega Man and Bass, but I'd say that Mega Man 3 is probably the hardest of the NES games overall. I agree with what other people mentioned a couple videos ago; you've definitely come a long way since your early Perfect Running days to be able to polish off the Doc Robots, the "Hologram Mega Mans," and the rematch stage that includes Shadow Man and Needle Man. Great job!
And with that, I have a full set of MM1-3 difficulty ratings to compare the Wily Wars to, fantastic. While I'm far from being able to perfect run it, I can definitely make a solid comparison, so that's just as good I feel. In more ways than one, these videos always prove to be enlightening. Keep up the good work and I'm definitely looking forward to Jumper 3, MM4 CC & WC Perfect Runs and more of the Silent Hill escapades you so thoroughly enjoy. ^^
@DjoingDelleton : Haha, indeed. I experimented a bit with the Top Spin after making this vid, and found out that if you time a jump off the top badly, wraparound hitboxes WILL kill you this time.
@pingasluigi25 : It's actually been awhile since I've fought Wily Machine 6, so I don't really remember that fight too clearly, but it would have to go some to be easier than Gamma...
@cujomiller : Perhaps, we'll see. As things stand for now, I already have some ideas for what I want to do and when. Plus I have the feeling that no matter what I listed, I'd have a bunch of people decide to add the choice of OMG DO BN4 NOW ^_^;
@MrmarioRBLX : It does two damage per hit. The way Top Spin works, it's a hit-scan type weapon, it does damage as long as a) you're in contact with the enemy, and b) the enemy is vulnerable to it. Some enemies, like Gamma and the Holograph Mega Mans, do not have invincibility frames, so it can rapidly damage them so it ALMOST seems like a one-shot. However, it's not quite, and in an instance like this, you're pretty much going to get hit at least once doing it.
Dr. Light mentions the whistle outright, as if the theme music can be heard. I like to imagine that Protoman is just hanging out right outside the window and whistling super loudly.
@Jordan Peloquin : I've played the Zero series, but not really something I feel enough of an enjoyment of to where I'd want to LP it. They're decent games, just not something I'd really care to LP myself.
I just watched that Captain N episode you were talking about Roahm. It seems the machine was defeated by Rush dropping a beehive into the cokpit, and not by topspin.
On phase 1, the weapon the boss is vulnerable to is the Hard Knuckle (which, incidently, make the phase semi-challenging as you have to make it to the platform and then time your jumps so you can fire at the robot head when the boss pause in its bullet streams. The Shadow Blade is much easier as you can stand underneath the boss and cheese it).
I just watched your video of Wily Castle 1 again, where you said that a no outtake run was a rarity among fortress stages. And yet, you have two in one game. ;-)
I remember when my brothers played this game. They kept thinking that it was the previous level Wily boss that was vulnerable to Top Spin, so they kept flying up to drop on him, which got them insta-killed.
I guess the reason you misremembered the way Gamma was defeated in the Captain N episode "A Tale of Two Dogs" is because said episode features the correct weaknesses for some other Mega Man 3 bosses---the Hard Knuckle against Top Man and the Shadow Blade against the Kamegoro Maker---so you logically assumed the same thing applied to Gamma.
So what I've learned from creating a good Mega Man levels and bosses: 1. Don't put any enemies in places where they pose no danger and can easily be picked off. This goes double for blindspots of bosses. 2. Make sure that you can't use a simple strategy to force the enemy or boss into easy patterns or even prevent using at least one of their attacks. 3. Make sure that whatever tries to attack you can last long enough to be a threat and attack you.
Funny note: As a kid, before I came to realize that was Dr. Wily's saucer in the upper part of the screen, I thought that was some odd looking bird flying its nest to the top of the tree. XD
Well, that proved me wrong completely. I had forgotten Search Snake actually works on Gamma. Anyways, great job there, Roahm! Let's just see what you do with MM4 though. :)
In the Captain N episode Mega Man uses Hard Knuckle on Top Man, Shadow Blade on the turtle robot thing, and shoots a robot beehive knocking it into Dr. Wily's cockpit for Gamma. I guess that last one is kinda similar to using Search Snake maybe?
Well I would like to suggest a project. I would really like to see u tackle the PS one game of spyro riptos rage. Its a classic favorite of mine and would love to see it played once more.
is it just me or does the audio sound a bit off from other vids? great video none the less and love the moon walk and didn't know about the hard knuckle thing. interested to see what jumper 3 is and can't wait to see silent hill origins.
There are parts of the ground in Magnet Man's stage that have "RW" logos on them (I don't remember if they're unused or not, but that's irrelevant), presumably from when the two doctors were working together (as per the story of MM3). Considering these weren't changed from the Japanese version, I take it to confirm that his name is indeed Dr. Right, and that the North American "Light" is a mistranslation.
Watched the Captain N episode purely for research. Gamma/Wily were defeated by Rush dropped a very top-shaped beehive into the cockpit. Topman WAS in the episode, though he looked as horrendous as everything else in the show. x_x
I really like the way this boss was handled in MM 8bit death match. Besides, you know, having to fight every robot master in the game again if you lose.
I just watched A Tale of Two Dogs. The only RM weapon MM used therein was Shadow Blade against the turtles. Gamma was defeated via beehive (hey, wasn't Hornet Chaser from a later game? lol).
MM3 was the first game in the series I owned, so as a result, I played the crap out of it, so it's probably for that reason that it feels like the easiest game in the series for me. Especially the Wily fortress. Doing a perfect run on it, however, seems to be a different story, so good job!! Yes, Megaman did fight Topman in that Captain N episode (he was the only MM3 robot master to appear), but I don't believe the Top Spin was ever used.
No, not really, ライト (raito) can be either "light" or "right", the Japanese don't make the difference, but that's clearly supposed to be "light" in this case as shown by the name of the hero and his family in Battle Network: Hikari (光) which means "light" in Japanese. I really enjoyed this series, those perfect run videos have to be some of my favourite on UA-cam. And you're really funny :P.
There's actually a funny thing about Top Man and his weapon, I was reading the Mega Man Complete Works and Inafume said that his original plan for Top Man and the spin was going to be different, but after a week working on it, the cord to his computer was accidentally tripped on and all of that data was forever lost. So, fair to say, this is why we have the pathetic version of Top Man and Top Spin now.
I just watched the episode, rush and duke defeated gamma. Rush had a rock and duke had a beehive. Broke the glass then dropping a beehive in there. Yet again, a help from 2 dogs.
Right/Light is not a misspelling. In oriental languages, the character for r and l are the same character (pronounced halfway between the sounds). so both spellings work for the same word.
Watching this again... I just realized that Gamma's first form is literally just a reskinned new shotman on Gamma's head.
It is, huh?
Did anyone notice that the physical character of Gamma extends Wily's extreme obsession of Guts Man?
It's funny how it gives you a health pellet at the beginning of the stage, despite you'll never need it.
Technically, you did this one no miss. So, double congrats!
And thus, Wily's least threating castle has been conquered... well, least threatening apart from a few key areas.
Nicely done, Roahm. The first three MM games are completed all the way through.
It sure did add the maximum challenge the game could offer, so awesome work.
“Perfect running it, this one was HARD!”
My friend, you are in for some pain with the rest of the fortress stages in the series.
Probably the most painful is the one that's been deferred for 7 years
the song for the outtakes... why did you make me feel such sad nostalgia from Sonic Adventure. Anyway good job on finishing up the third game for good.
Ooooh, Silent Hill Origins^^ I actually never saw an LP of that yet, very excited, I am XD.
Also congratulation for defeating Mega Man 3^^ This was a fun run to watch^^

7:45: One of my favorite moments out of all of your videos I have seen. That is simply awesome.
Hard Knuckle, I believe, is the other weakness against Gamma's first form.
Great job conquering this game!
Congrats on finally conquering Mega Man 3! It may not be as tough as Mega Man and Bass, but I'd say that Mega Man 3 is probably the hardest of the NES games overall. Forever will we remember the assistance of... a dog.
And with that, I have a full set of MM1-3 difficulty ratings to compare the Wily Wars to, fantastic. While I'm far from being able to perfect run it, I can definitely make a solid comparison, so that's just as good I feel.

Another fortress down. Fantastic job!
I have to say, Mega Man 3 is probably my favorite out of the classic series as well. It's a fantastic game.
@pingasluigi25 : It's actually been awhile since I've fought Wily Machine 6, so I don't really remember that fight too clearly, but it would have to go some to be easier than Gamma...
Whoever spelled the end credits deserves a Scooby Snack.
@cujomiller : Perhaps, we'll see. As things stand for now, I already have some ideas for what I want to do and when. Plus I have the feeling that no matter what I listed, I'd have a bunch of people decide to add the choice of OMG DO BN4 NOW ^_^;

Congrats on completing your MM3 perfect run. Looking forward to watching your next project. Until then, fare thee well.
well add this guy to the under whelming list of final bosses
@Edberg Silva : I do plan to LP the original Spyro trilogy at some point.
Dr. Light mentions the whistle outright, as if the theme music can be heard. I like to imagine that Protoman is just hanging out right outside the window and whistling super loudly.
New Roahm right before bed, what a good way to end the day.
@PicochillaTH : Uhhh..... how? I was parodying the meme "Real men don't look at explosions," so I pluralized it to Mega Men.
@MrmarioRBLX : Or just stand on the platform and hold up to aim it as I did? No timing necessary.
@HeroSteve6070 : I got it more or less from a round of 8 Bit Deathmatch I heard Kit playing. It wasn't really in a video I don't think.
Are you going to do a walkthrough of MM 8-bit Deathmatch or Rockman 4 MI?E Or any other hacks?
@Jordan Peloquin : I've played the Zero series, but not really something I feel enough of an enjoyment of to where I'd want to LP it. They're decent games, just not something I'd really care to LP myself.
I don't trust that tiny head. Something tells me it's the real villain here...
I love wow DitLL treated the Gamma fight.
And the other weapon in Hard Knuckle.
@Mega Man X : Haha, no pun intended there.
1:12 Phase 1's second weakness is Hard Knuckle
"Behold Wily, I have your worst nightmare: GYMNASTICS! AUGH!"
@MurderosZdska : Eh, I didn't really like what I've played of them, perhaps I'll go back sometime and give them another try, we'll see.
I don't imagine Jumper 3 will take too long, so I'm almost certain there will be enough time for MM4 fortress perfect runs before Halloween.
@LordNevaman : Indeed, I like them. They differ a lot from the games, but they're pretty cool for what they are I think.
@Doug E : I hope to finish them all eventually, yes.
That e-102 Gamma theme got me wanting to hook up my Dreamcast and replay Sonic Adventure. lol
Interesting. Meanwhile, Gamma's weakness in that episode is having a ChiBee hive thrown into the cockpit to distract Dr. Wily and mess up his driving
@DwarfPrimus : Ahhh, okay. For some reason I thought the glass was broken by Top Spin. Oh well, nice to know for sure then.
So what I've learned from creating a good Mega Man levels and bosses:
1. Don't put any enemies in places where they pose no danger and can easily be picked off. This goes double for blindspots of bosses.
2. Make sure that you can't use a simple strategy to force the enemy or boss into easy patterns or even prevent using at least one of their attacks.

Funny note: As a kid, before I came to realize that was Dr. Wily's saucer in the upper part of the screen, I thought that was some odd looking bird flying its nest to the top of the tree. XD
I tend to think of the Doc Robot stages sorta like the first 4 parts of the fortress, just because the actual fortress is so short.
Well, that proved me wrong completely. I had forgotten Search Snake actually works on Gamma.
Anyways, great job there, Roahm! Let's just see what you do with MM4 though. :)
Greatly done Roahm! Can't wait for Mega Man 4!
I checked... According to Captain N, Gamma's weakness is having a ChiBee hive thrown into the cockpit to distract Dr. Wily and mess up his driving
ZeldaTheSwordsman So it’s Hornet Chaser?
In the Captain N episode Mega Man uses Hard Knuckle on Top Man, Shadow Blade on the turtle robot thing, and shoots a robot beehive knocking it into Dr. Wily's cockpit for Gamma. I guess that last one is kinda similar to using Search Snake maybe?
Well I would like to suggest a project. I would really like to see u tackle the PS one game of spyro riptos rage. Its a classic favorite of mine and would love to see it played once more.
LOL I always always always laugh when Wily flies out of his machines upon dead LOL
is it just me or does the audio sound a bit off from other vids? great video none the less and love the moon walk and didn't know about the hard knuckle thing. interested to see what jumper 3 is and can't wait to see silent hill origins.
the other two robot master weapons I know you can use are Hard Knuckle (1st form) and Top Spin (2nd form)

Killing a giant mecha by spin-kicking it in the face is truly awesome.
Also, Gamma went from pitiful here to PAIN INCARNATE in 8-Bit Deathmatch... >__
Would you ever consider attempting to perfect run the Day in the Limelight games?
Roahm, at the start of Wily Stage 6, what is the deal with that platform in the top middle of the screen that's partially obscured?
Watched the Captain N episode purely for research.
Gamma/Wily were defeated by Rush dropped a very top-shaped beehive into the cockpit. Topman WAS in the episode, though he looked as horrendous as everything else in the show. x_x
You used the Gamma theme from Sonic Adventure! Clever.
Hey Roahm, any chance of another Let's Vote now that the first one is finally being completed?
would this be a good time for you to start battle network 4? please do it soon Roahm
At least they knew dropping stuff into the cockpit kills it.
I love that map screen
So are you planning to do all the dr wily fortresses in the series eventually? Even Mega Man and Bass? i'd sure like to see that
Do you plan to do a Perfect Run any of the Mega Man A Christmas Carol games?
I really like the way this boss was handled in MM 8bit death match. Besides, you know, having to fight every robot master in the game again if you lose.
Where is Dr.Misspelled
I remember playing this about 20 years ago... I distinctly remember also using top man's weapon to one-KO the poor dude. Nice memory.
Here´s a tip with the Hard Knuckle at Gamma´s 1st form:
Use it when you are on the top platform and Gamma is not firing shots. Time it carefully.
Hey Roahm, where did you get the line "assistance of 'a dog'" again? I want to see the original video.
As for your showing of Top Spin, it actually can do a 1-hit kill on Gamma.
I'm gonna guess Doctor Light went to Taco Bell for dinner then came back and saw Mega Man on the floor.
I just watched A Tale of Two Dogs. The only RM weapon MM used therein was Shadow Blade against the turtles. Gamma was defeated via beehive (hey, wasn't Hornet Chaser from a later game? lol).
@Y34HT045T : I'd like to at least do SOMETHING with them, but unfortunately the games are extremely crash prone.
MM3 was the first game in the series I owned, so as a result, I played the crap out of it, so it's probably for that reason that it feels like the easiest game in the series for me. Especially the Wily fortress. Doing a perfect run on it, however, seems to be a different story, so good job!!

I really enjoyed this series, those perfect run videos have to be some of my favourite on UA-cam. And you're really funny :P.
Lovin' that moonwalk.
I’ve never realized you can just sit right under him and not get hit.
^.^ new projects always excite me :D
wow, hats off to you buddy. i know that ones gonna be a doozy. same with MM7 as well.
hay ...i like your vids. what your next lets play i hop you play more silnet hill games.
Awesome job man!
MOONWALK OF JUSTICE! *BOW-NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW*
Roahm, which boss do you think is harder:
Gamma or Top Man?
Hey, I just thought of this. Have you ever played the Mega Man Zero series? Would you be willing to (god forbid) perfect run that?
what's the situation on console recording getting up and running? also, what's your opinion of dynasty warriors 9?
There's actually a funny thing about Top Man and his weapon, I was reading the Mega Man Complete Works and Inafume said that his original plan for Top Man and the spin was going to be different, but after a week working on it, the cord to his computer was accidentally tripped on and all of that data was forever lost. So, fair to say, this is why we have the pathetic version of Top Man and Top Spin now.
Congratulations!
I used the Top Spin wish I knew about the search snake back then
Great job Roahm!
Would you like to do Torfinn from Norway? You got the perfect accent for that character even though you have a Scottish-Texan accent.
I just watched the episode, rush and duke defeated gamma. Rush had a rock and duke had a beehive. Broke the glass then dropping a beehive in there. Yet again, a help from 2 dogs.
You definitely need your Midsummer break.
Right/Light is not a misspelling. In oriental languages, the character for r and l are the same character (pronounced halfway between the sounds). so both spellings work for the same word.
a lot of people misinterpret to spin, i dont know if you do but your supposed to activate it then ram into an enemy asuming it will kill it
