Can we just take a moment and appreciate Captain Kirk is narrating this at close to 90 years old and still sounds amazing? Live long and prosper he has. A true modern marvel
Today the height of a building is measured up to the uppermost inhabited floor. The mooring mast scheme was never intended to work. The 200' mast was put up just to get the building higher than the Chrysler building. They had a competition going on for the worlds tallest building.
They built the Empire State building in only thirteen months. It was during the Great Depression and they worked the construction crews very, very hard. The men realized if they screwed up just once, if they got injured badly enough so that they couldn't, if they got sick, they would join the rest of the country in the bread lines.
I'd love to see details about the Empire State Building's 104th floor (3:26) which is the conical structure above the 103rd floor upon which the transmission mast assembly is erected.
When I was 11 years old my family traveled to NYC. My dad took me to the top of the Empire State Building, but the winds were so strong that day that the observation deck was closed for fear people would blow off the top. We went to the top of the Chrysler building instead. Still pretty amazing!
I absolutely love these UneXplained shows! I just watched the new episode last night! Can’t go wrong with the awesome informative topics and William Shatner! lol
Fifty+ men died during construction. Most were American Indians. That's the ethnic group that did most of the high-rise construction in the United States.
In full disclosure dutch west india paid fully for the property from The Lenape, and now you're suggesting the kin were also paid for services on land sold by their forefathers? Well played.
my father is architect and he told me the people behind that masterpiece is they build skyscraper without safety gear. if he dont build our home and help his siblings when he got money even we dont exist as his children the time when he still young. he told me that one of his dream as an architect is to go in nyc to touch the empire state building. i wish the time travel are truly exist, so i can take a picture of my father while he make a plan and design for his client. now i understand what is the value of moments. I'm thankful for Almighty that he keep the memories with my father in my core brain and soul of my existence. i can draw but i dont want to because i want to treasure our memories until we meet in the sacred place of the universe. my father once said: "study the history if you want to live free, to know how to value the disagree." now i know what is the meaning of history. if architect doesn't exist, we cannot find answer and we don't know the universe was exist.

Docking to a Skyscraper is a disaster bound to happen. I love watching men building it 1,000 feet on a plank of wood. Maybe they had aliens helping them. Like they did with the pyramids and Southish America.

Rest in peace to 5 workers who died while constructing the Empire State Building.
look at 1:16 and see if there are any protections! No doubt some worker died!
Also in 1945, 14 people died in the plane crash at the building.
Yes definitely.
The worker at 1:16, wtf! No protection, standing like he got some hidden wings
...and smooth endings please!
Yes you are right
That just shows how strong and how much balls them peeps had back then

Props to the camera man for time traveling into the past and flying. So we can see all of this.
So what was 'unexplained' about The Empire State Building?
