- As a foreigner I travel to India's biggest slum in Mumbai and experience Dharavi like a Local. Friendly Indian people show me around the narrow streets and inside the sweatshops and the houses. There's also a lot of good street food to try and turns out that life inside the slum is nothing like you'd expect.

They are not living in poverty . they are earning minimum wage but they all have food , clothes and shelter . Poverty means you cant afford basic necessities . These people can and also are very hard working

Just wanted to tell you about the peanut guy you met near the railway tracks colony. The peanut guy did not ask for Rs 1000, but he was actually answering your question of how much business he makes per day. He sells around 1000 rupees worth of peanuts everyday. A small pack of "sand" roasted peanuts costs only 10/- or 20/- Somehow due to poor translation, it came across as Rs 1000 for a pack of peanuts. That is not what he meant. You are a brave heart and a wanderlust by spirit. All the best.

I don't think he showed the unfortunate side at all. If anything, I could see the dedication and hard work of those making a living out of dharavi's economy. Almost everyone is doing something. I feel so proud that we have such hard working men & women in our country. There are places in the world that are full of crime and jobless people. INDIA 🇮🇳 is not one of them. Despite some disadvantages, we choose to thrive through work and effort, in our jobs or business. Dharavi is so busy only because people are hustling to run their homes & also to progress.
