I don’t see the hammer attachment listed. The head you put on the air gun to drive the bolt/flange off
You guys should do the 2wd front end too.
Also would love a series on the first gen Rams
This video was sent with my part order verification. Man I didn't expect that but its a 100% on point video and helpful as can be thanks ya'll!!!
+ Thank you for your order! We'd love to hear about your experience. Here's a link to leave us a review on Google: goo.gl/i5JFNY
Just to clarify for some, this is ONLY for the 4x4, if you have the RWD, the bearings are installed on the rotor/hub, there is an inner and outer that needs to be packed and sealed
I work construction so I have mechanical inclinations. That being said, I am not comfortable doing a lot of work on my vehicle outside of brakes, rotors changing the oil, spark plugs, serpentine belt, things like that. If it gets more than that I usually let somebody else do it. That being said, this video made me feel comfortable enough too. Do this job. Great explanations, went over everything in detail. Great video! Amazing instructions. Please continue to make content like this, especially on second gen Rams😂
Thank you so much I just did my passenger side hub your videos are amazing thank you
i have on a 2002 model used a steel short jack handle and the power steering of the truck as a press once. between the back of the hub portion of the assembly turn the wheel with the steel handle on the back where the lug studs are and with the truck running turn slowly, it worked, cant swear it would work again flawlessly, but it did that time.
this guy was super helpful!
Best on UA-cam great job fella
+Rednecken Illinois Thanks for checking us out!

Good job amigo
actually good part and rlly quick shipping. only took 3 days for my bearing to get here. pretty impressed.
“U do u boo boo” 😹😹😂😂I wasn’t expecting that
What is that bar called that you took the castle nut off of to turn the wheel to make it easier
Here in northern Wisconsin, It takes a pounded on smaller socket and an hour of torching, a breaker bar with a pipe just to still round the bolt head off. 👍
+Mike Thanks for the feedback!
I’m having the same issues
Are all 4 wheel bearings pretty much the same? Any time I look for wheel bearings they are for the front only.
I don't have the tools to jackhammer the hub loose so I loosen all the bolts, leave the steering components connected.
Then I take the socket, place it on the bolt head and simply start the truck and turn the wheel both ways.
It works like a press and pops the hub bearing assembly right off, or at least breaks it free.
I've changed a bunch of the Dodge bearings like that and never had a problem
you turn the tire? or the steering wheel?
@@Heywoodjablowme420 steering wheel. When people says the wheel both ways they mean the steering wheel
Do you have a link for the chisel and adapter? That's a impressive tool. You make it look so easy.
You did a great demonstration.

What‘s the length on those side cutters? They look slick! 11”?
Thanks!
Where can I find 2wd hubs with bearings for a 1996 ram 1500?
GREAT PRESENTATION 👍
This guy is the real deal. Snapon tools.
+Patriotic Immigrant Thanks for checking us out!
Thanks alot man it was very clear describtion of how to will be following you
@1AAuto how much torque does the axle nut require on a 2wd 1996 Dodge ram 1500?
Is the 4 x 2 exactly the same?
Do you need a air chisel to do the job ?
Great video
Dod you grease the spindle?
that backing plate desperately needed replaced. i'm surprised he didn't throw a new one on there.
I don't know how you got the mounting bolts put so easily I've been trying to get mine out for 4 days with no luck at all.
what was the part that he threw on the ground that definitely needed to be replaced???? I can not take my truck apart and get stuck halfway through because of something like that.
I think this why i hear a rubbing noise when im driving
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with manual locking hubs , i need to know how tight the inner bearing is supposed to be and the torque for the outer axle nut and how easy for the rotor to spin. Can anybody help me out on this? It is my first time doing the job.
Manual hubs? Someone swapped that in your truck enless it’s a 1988
good video, maybe wouldnt of cut that chunk off vaccume plate, u now hav a gap wich dirt could get in, but all n all decent production
The 97 1500 ram has an axle bolt of an 1 11/16..
If do not have an air compressor and air chisel is there an electric or manual alternative?
Yup what else would u use.
I have 2002 3rd gen i order a bearing for my 97 but my 03 needs a bearing will my one from 97 fit my 02 they look identical
Just ordered the hubs. Do they come with a new nut?
Just received the hubs.🤦🏻♂️it does not come with new ones
What size impact drill did he use ?
Real one!!!
How do you say vehicle?
6 point or 12point for that axle nut??
Is there an option to replace only the bearing, pressing it onto the old hub?
There used to be. I did the job on a 2wd dodge ram 2001. It was the front driver side. I took off the hub and used a press to get the bearing out and the new one in. But now, all of the sudden, it's like I can't buy the bearing, I have to buy the hub assembly. Crazy. Cause the bearing was only 25$. The assembly cost 113$.
@@TimezUp23 could you tell me where you find the hub with bearing for a 2wd 96 1500 I can only find 4x4
i cant get mine off please help
Caliper sliders?
At Walmart , they torque the wheel lug nuts, and drive around the block or store, then recheck them.
honestly that might just be a local thing for you. never heard of walmart doing that
Get that locking ratchet warrantied my man
Thanks that is alat help my friend I appreciate you
Where do i get the bolts for the hib assembly, i cant get mine out, im afraid that i am going to break it to get it out and none of the auto stores have access to it
+Communist USA 717 Thanks for watching! We carry those hub flange bolts here if needed: www.1aauto.com/1994-97-dodge-ram-1500-2500-front-driver-or-passenger-side-wheel-hub-mounting-hardware-kit-dorman-917-510/i/1awhc00055/742823/1996

Dude me either. Been looking for months have you found any
Did you use a 3/4 to 1/2 drive reducer for that big ass socket for the hub? Can’t find any 1/2 drive sockets that big
36mm
@@InSaNeAssAss1n the axle nut a 36mm?
Watch your eyes ! 😄🤣
I move out the way
This is 4x4 correct
Maybe someone here can help me out. I have a 2000 ram 1500 4×4 i just replaced both hub bearings on the front. The driver side works great but the passenger side is chewing through bearings 20 miles of driving or so it start having an occasional roar again (give or take on minor road imperfections thats typically driven over). I jack the truck up do the 12 and 6 check no play rotate the tire no gritty feel. Im on my 4th hub bearing. Im getting to the point ive exhausted all my warranty and exchanges. Ive double checked my torque on the bolts and nut all comes out good (chilton manual specs). Does anyone have any idea what can be the cause of the premature bearing failure? I live in south alabama so the roads are pretty decent here so its not pot holes or patched asphalt like up north doing the damage. Been dealing with the issue for over a month now.
Open up the center axle disconnect and see if it’s binding it’s a “full time” system and could be jamming up causing it to push out on the bearing wearing the components
Or just turn your wheel for the bolts lol
outstanding tutorial
