REMINDER: I film many episodes in advance, and I had not started posting the first episode yet as I played this one (I had 5 episodes of advance to be more precise)! As mentioned in the previous video's pinned comment, I discovered the advantages of defeating bosses non lethally on my own, starting _next_ episode, so bear with me until then 😊
Other note: I inadvertently changed the camera view (again!) starting from 1:57:00 and all the way until the end of the video 🤣 I thought it was just how these areas were designed. I know now that it's done with pressing R3, but I had no idea back then! Don't worry, it goes back to normal view starting next episode. Sorry!

Which underwater swimming do you like the most, MGS2 or MGS3?
badasss, well played! I have the memory back in the day that when you skipped the audio in a conversation there was a way to get them to talk again in this one. Im not sure and maybe its too late but I have that feeling in my mind.
Stuff like the camera change is why we encouraged you to look up the controls for this one, because there’s so much nonsense like that. I think you still haven’t truly internalized that you can stand all the way up from a crawl by HOLDING the crawl button. But you know enough to get by!
I don't know, personally it's exactly this type of thing that makes it funny no? My unique experience. I wouldn't want to play perfectly on a first playthrough by knowing all the controls beforehand, where's the fun in that? 💃🏻 And yes I know how to come back from the crawl all the way, the controls are just a bit janky sometimes 🤣

Fun fact about the vampire codec call: Big Boss says that whenever someone talks about vampires, he dreams about them. In the original release of the game, when he sleeps he has a nightmare which is a demo to a completely different game that never got released which is an action game where you play as a vampire. It was only in that original PS2 version of the game though.
When you get to the part where Snake is taken prisoner, save and reload the game...
As someone who's finished the game so many times, it's super fun watching someone else experiencing it for the first time ❤

Fun fact! Snakes eyes will adjust to the darkness in the cave over time! Meaning the cave becomes much easier to see in and navigate through after several minutes!
21:25 there is a kerotan frog in every single area in the entire game! Shooting them all grants a bonus item for the next play through!

2:32:42 this moment is a bad example😅 but don’t cut their throat after the first interrogation! You can usually get 3 bits of info from them. Most of the time it’s required to get the whole piece!
When you finish the game I extremely recommend you search for the codec call between Eva and Snake in the cave after Ocelot's fight and record your reaction and include it in the final episode. That is an interesting call that you missed unfortunately.
I think it’s been inexplicably, perhaps accidentally, removed from modern editions of the game.
@@dzmcroy Haven't tried it on new versions but in the old versions it only works on the second part of the cave not the first part where you start. I remember because it drove me mad trying to listen to it on one of my playthroughs.

1:42:46 Legend tells of the Gurlugon, a giant monster with the appearance of a certain group of Russian mercenaries. You can only find it in MGS2's VR Missions.
Don't know if anyone mentionned this (surely someone did), during the Granin lore dump, we see Granin and a scientist who looks like Otacon (it is not Sokolov) in a picture on the wall. It is in fact Otacon's dad Huey Emmerich, Granin sent the Metal Gear plans to him as he was his so-called "friend in America". Loved all your playthroughs about the saga, cheers Whimsy ! 😁

Underwater swimming: Press swim rythmicly to swim faster and with less stamina. =P if you mashit/not in good rythm you lose more stam and go slower.

@@DiegoRodriguezquiroga It's not a spoiler, it should be obvious that The Boss isnt talking about the character The End. Why would The End be so special out of all in the cobra unit? He's just some old dude with powers. And why not the pain or the fury? why would it be specifically The End that she is loyal to out of all the members in the cobra unit that seemingly all are very similar to each other.
Why not? She has a special connection to The Sorrow after all, why is it so crazy to think, as someone who is playing for the first time and knows nothing of the story and its characters yet, she would have a special connection to The End? I thought maybe she was doing all this _for_ someone, and that someone might've been The End. It could've gone so many different ways. That's the beauty of first playthroughs and theorycrafting as you go. Sometimes you get it wrong, sometimes you get it right! Might seem obvious for you, who I'm sure has played the game countless times. It's definitely not obvious for a first timer.

Her behaviour hint a clearer connection to the sorrow as you highlighted, she's tied to him in almost every scene so far.
The only that you missed was a really big and important codec conversation, like A BIG ONE

tip: press X on the window to re-equip a suppressor.
It's not a big deal but the shotgun does work against the pain, it just takes a few consecutive hits. You can also shotgun the bees that carry his grenades to make them drop it near him and damage him with his own grenade : )
1:21:00 Pro Tip for subsequent playthroughs, Here for a few seconds after the cutscene ends you can actually pull out your SVD and kill THE END early and completely skip his fight
I think that the one thing important to remember from the different Boss interaction is that she explicitely said to Snake that the only thing that matters is the mission. To be ''loyal to the end'' means to be loyal to the mission no matter the cost, who's friends and foes, until you succeed or die trying. That's what she means when she told him that she is ''loyal to the end''. It has nothing to do with ''THE END''.
Yeah that's what I realized as well later, after beating The End. But here, I found it interesting how they really made a point of it in the dialogue, didn't they even write it like ''I am loyal to 'the end' " with the quotes and everything? So yeah, I think it's purposefully done by Kojima to make you question it and overthink it 🤣
There is a small detail with the scientist costume and that is that if you look closely there is a credential with a photo of Snake with his bandana

oh sniper incident again, glad i could help back in the first episode! At least you could expierience a bit of how the game played back at launch, the later Subsistence version had improvements like the free camera, an online mode and other cool things.

Fun fact: if you stay in the cave without any light Snake Eyes will adjust the darkness so you'll be able to see more easily.
MGS4 fixed the grenade-aiming issue.

Played this game many times and never ever found those scientist bodies hanged up on the forest...
Also, its a very comon strategy on Metal gear games to let yourself die to get rid of the alert mode. But is funny to see Whimsy start doing it in this game since its the only one of the series that you can force a continue simple by using the fake dead pill =P hope she find it soon or later

I know what you mean, the grenade throwing is weird. I did it third person, with a little bit more overview you can aim them better.

As you leave the codec and the game resumes, a guard walks up and pushes the wheelchair with The End sitting in it back into the building, giving you a small window of time to assassinate him with your SVD Sniper Rifle. Of course you wouldn't have the SVD if you didn't go to the optional area first. So players who don't explore like you do would never be able to do it. Players who do assassinate The End here instead fight the members of the Ocelot unit in the black uniforms again in the three areas where The End boss fight would've been. Kojima thinks of everything!
If the End was still there and you take a shot at him after the cutscene, 1 out of 2 outcomes would occur. Either you won't face him in his own fight at all or a cutscene plays where he gets a little payback on you.
It's great seeing this franchise through a new perspective Whimsy! I love that your enjoying this series of games and I appreciate how much you use the codec/radio! You inspired me to go back and replay these games now I'm trying a no kill/no alert run on mgs3 and man is it difficult! Hope you check out more of these games even if you wait until after Delta!

No alerts is tough so it's a lot of saving/reloading but I'm also playing on hard! It feels so great when you 'ghost' an area smoothly! Look forward to the rest of this series!

I love your vidéos! The scientist uniform works into the Lab building indeed, Eva told you. And it works into the whole building. Obviously if you go into alert mode in front of them, they are going to be alerted until the alert mode ends. You would have had an easier time if you had put it on as soon as you entered the building. I hope you didn't get too annoyed by this section and after that in the forest. Please don't worry to much about getting spotted too often, nobody minds here.
Its not a big deal, but at 1:21:00, after that cutscene with all the villians on the pier, you actually had a chance to snipe The End while he's in his wheelchair. Oh well, hope you enjoyed that boss fight!😅❤

Whimsy, whenever you are in an enemy food pantry or enemy weapons warehouse, try using the codec for hints (has to do with TNT)....
A small tip! If u have a bossfight and kill them with non lethal weapons like a tranquilizer then u will not only kill their stamina but also get their uniforms once their stamina is down.

Since you've already played the head, it's o k to tell you. You could of actually shot the End right after that cuts scene when he's weeled out by shooting him with a sniper rifle and avoid having to deal with him later.😅 You have to do it before the soldiers come back and take him away. It's actually good that you didn't try it though. Because his boss battle is one of the best in the whole series. Kojima has several ways you can defeat characters in this game If you think outside the box but I won't spoil anything yet
The cooling solution you described sounds like a "swamp cooler", which is supposed to work fairly well in lower humidity environments but would do nothing for me down here in central Arkansas(in the southern US). Thank goodness for the AC, although I spent many summers with just a box fan. Brutal.
During the pain fight grenades were respawning under water ( i think in front of the rock) but you only grabbed them once. After that you kept swimming in the same spot behind the rock

2:25:00 - Whimsy just so you know this, you cannot perform CQC while wearing the Scientist uniform. Best you also do not wear the Raiden face mask as well, because the guards will get suspecious. And yes the Scientist in the labs are also a nuisance, and immediately alert the whole complex due to not recognizing you. Best knock'em out with the Cig-Gas Spray, and fool 'em while wearing the cardboard box. Just becareful not to bump into any of them, or let the guards see a "moving box" lol

How did you do it? You defeated the Cave Demon… otherwise known as the Kenyan Mangrove Crab. How did your knife not snap in half against those massive claws? This Crab Battle was quick and decisive, hail to you champion.

Did you know that if you killed The End earlier at 1:20:58 then you won't have to kill him in the forest. You can kill him by using a sniper gun ☺️ you can find it somewhere before getting on that location
I am not an native english speaker, but I try my best now 😂
1. Don't know, if you know, but you can lean left and right while aiming by pressing L2/R2 or up when holding both.
2. If you catch a poisonous animal alive and throw them at people, ... you know the rest.
3. CQC is not that hard, as you thought in the previous episode. If you're holding someone and switch to aiming, you don't have to press circle any longer.
Btw. try to aim at enemies at close behind them.
4. Try some more CQC, may use the Masterbook in the mainscreen, i think there are the controls or even videos, to show what you can do.
5. When you tranquilize the bosses, you get there uniform
6. Try to blow up some storage rooms with food or weapons in it. It will effect the game...

@Whimsy Psyche Hi, in MGS 3 , when you aiming you can slide on sides left and right with first person view by pushing L2 R2 and snand higher with L2+R2
React to the MGS3 Secret theatre after finishing the game. Maybe in the last episode. They can be found on UA-cam. They are fun short skits that were included in the 2006 PS2 re-release.
I really love this playthrough, but I can't help but feel like you're sometimes making this unnecessarily hard on yourself by trying to take out every guard in the area. You can move pretty much freely around in the lab building when you're disguised as a scientist. That way you can go pretty much anywhere without getting bothered by the guards, but for some reason you try to fight them instead and I wonder why? 🤔

You can move your scope vision (R1) during cutscenes with the analog stick (or is it the D-Pad? I forgot)
You can see some interesting stuff and very important information during that moment

Kojima originally wanted to set the game in August 1963 (his birthday) but Kennedy's assassination (happened in November 63) needed to be in the plot, so they moved to August 64
Can someone confirm me this: You can kill The End straight away, after the cinematic with Sokolov? As far as I heard, once you have the SVD, you can shot him from the point you were. And by doing that, you avoid confronting him.
The Para-medic & Snake Codec talk at 1:29:47 is to hilarious. I laughed my butt off the first time I saw the interaction. Glowing mushrooms recharging batteries, what a wacky nonsense.
I tried the Calorie Mate and I like them very much, they have different flavours and helps a lot as a small snack to kill the Hangry.

@@WhimsyPsyche hell yeahhh!! Then here's a couple of early tips for mgs4 no spoilers at all. Just things I know you'd like to know .
You can pause the cutscenes in mgs4.
Assuming you're playing on a PS3, you can reset your camo by shaking the DualShock controller without going to any menu!
Whimsy! Is the last part filmed already? If not please consider watching in the end the secret theatre! After you finish the game it might be unlocked for you in the main menu (there are some requirements) but if not you can find it on UA-cam. You're gonna love it.

Whimsy's Snake is a blood-thirsty killer, huh? "Naked Snake"? More like "Venom Snake" because this Snake is merciless.
("Rattle Snake"? Because I believe rattle snakes are venomous - as a rule? could be wrong - and also stealth... well, there's more than one way to beat Metal Gear, I guess.)
I have to imagine somewhere in the comments somebody told you that you could've used the cig spray to incapacitate scientists and guardsman; you get close to them with your disguise, then use the cig spray to quietly and covertly knock them out so that they can't get a good look at you and thus recognize that you aren't a fellow scientist.

Didn't call major zero right after beating the pain. You get some info and explanation on why he blew up. All the cobras are fitted with microbombs because they can not be taken alive. So they blow up after the fight. Sigint explains it.

I think you pressed R3, the joystick button, that switched the camera mode on the original game on PS2.
When pressing R3 again you can move the camera freely like you did since the beginning of your playthrough

You're doing good! Can't wait for the MGS 4! Just one little request: Since you haven't finished the game yet, please try not to have any fancy facepaint in the final cutscene. I mean, the scene that after the final boss fight. It can be break the seriousness of the scene a little bit.
And also important hint for MGS 4: You should definitely watch the "Act 1: Mission Briefing" before you start the game. If you start the game without watching it, as far as I know, it does not appear in the game itself.
You also can dive into the "MGS 4 Database" too. It contains the timeline of the entire series, mixed in with real history stuff. It can be really helpfull. Just be aware for the spoilers.
