So glad for these interviews. I really had a misguided concept of her by only hearing bad news about her. She was human like the rest of us, but a remarkable human.
What a wonderfully concentrated interview. It speaks volumes of her articulate, graceful, and intelligent character. No wonder so many found her threatening and tried, and continue to try, to tarnish her legacy. She was the original strong woman, except, more than most, she also knew how to be beautiful, tasteful, feminine and classy while at it.
Thank you once again for uncovering and uploading these rare gems of the wonderful Joan Crawford. The opening of this interview shows how Joan took a genuine interest in people. It also shows how humbling, unpretentious and down to earth she was. What a lovely, genuine lady she was. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into this channel, it really is appreciated. Bless you for that.
I love how she always looks the interviewer straight in the eye.... says a lot about who she really was. Thanks for uploading these wonderful and rare interviews!
This interview speaks volumes about what Joan was really like. A true professional in every sense of the word, but not such a star that she looked down on others. Man, I wish I could have met her!! Everything she said here is true. Thank u so much for sharing this with us!
She is who I want to grow up to be like. So professional always, courteous and loving. I'll never have too much of her 💕 Thank you for all of the hard work you do bringing us closer to Joan!
When she laughs at 03:22, it’s a rare and precious moment when she loses her ‘professional veneer’ and it makes her look 30 years younger. What a treat and a great interview. She was something.
I agree. She did a later interview for British TV (she was over 60 in that interview) and she was smiling and laughing in the interview. When she smiled she looked so young.
This was the perfect start to November! Joan looks exquisite, poised and so very attentive to the interviewer. What a pro and what a gorgeous woman! Thanks mucho!
Wonderful addition to the post -1960 Joan Crawford Legacy. Miss Crawford is gracious, stunning, polite & a great inspiration to modern day professional women. She's spot on, the time to make friends doesn't take that much effort - a quick line in a note, (or in this day an email or text is even easier). Her advice to get on with life when you are lonely and be grateful for what you have, speaks volumes, even today! Thanks for this posting this interview, so appreciated!
What a charming wonderful interview. Joan every inch the ultimate regal star she was and also very warm, friendly and polite. Which should come as no surprise to any genuine (real) Joan fan.
It really seems like Joan Crawford was given a tarnished image from recent movies on her but from actual interviews with her like this one they may not be at all accurate. Jessica Lang who portrayed her in one such movie, researched her background and learned of her horrible childhood and was impressed that despite that she made something of herself and I learned that she was always appreciative and considerate of her fans. She definitely could be tough when necessary and was scarred by her childhood and hollywood experiences, but she not have been the monster she was portrayed to be in the Mommy Dearest book.
Finally an interview where the interviewer asks proper interesting questions....most interviewers just asked her "what do u think about such and such actor/actress?" Very tiring to listen to this question again and again must have been tiring for her to answer as well.
It must get even more tiring when every time the question is asked, the star knows that the interviewer is expecting the star to dish new dirt. Bette Davis was more than happy to do that about Joan, but unfortunately for the interviewers, it didn’t often successfully work the other way.
Joan was such a strong and kind lady. This just bolsters my already high regard for her! Thank you. This is a real treat!! She is so full of good advice, of wisdom. I hope today's stars might come across these kinds of interviews and learn from one of the true Stars of the Golden Age. I hope more people will see that she was a gracious person. She speaks highly of Bette. Unfortunately that didn't work both ways. This way is just much classier.
What a stunning-looking woman! It's so darn distracting to watch her. Her diction, her mystique, that impossibly beautiful face, it all becomes one continuously breathless exercise in awe. It's mesmerizing really. Truly spectacular creature in every way and the likes of whom we shall mever see again in our lifetimes.
Joan Crawford is someone I'd love to have as a friend since she takes the time too really get to know people and remember things about you too make you feel special. Awesome Lady. R I P Joan Crawford.
A very interesting person, and very beautiful inside and out, with an impressive personality. I can't understand why so many people, even her own adopted daughter, have tried to damage her true and genuine image, including the late Bette Davis who has unjustly branded her on occasions as well. Is is pure injustice, unscrupulous and very envious people, unfortunately the world is full of them.
I know she was "on" with reporters, but there is some genuine warmth in her eyes at times when she speaks and answers this woman's questions. Crawford looks very chic and sober. Her face moves beautifully when she speaks - part of what made her a captivating film star. Her features are harmonious and striking - it's hard to put into words. It certainly isn't true of every movie star - not even the greater beauties. Garbo had it though. I don't like Joan Crawford much as an actress - so this fluid physical dynamism is the most rivetting thing about her to me. She has something more than beauty....
I think this was mentioned elsewhere in comments - but the interviewer is Marie Torre. Torre worked in both NYC and, for a long time, in Pittsburgh. She was also known for a court case where she was sent to jail for not revealing a source in a story she wrote about Judy Garland. Her daughter Roma Torre was also an anchor, for NY1.
Wow, That was a young Patti Burns, Bill Burns daughter, interviewing her. Both Patti and Bill were News Broadcasters here in Pittsburgh, and Patti also had a local show during the afternoon.
Being gracious and well-mannered demonstrates our respect for others so we can gain theirs in return
She was very classy indeed ❤️
Wow I think this is one of Joan Crawford's best interviews. She was thoughtful, engaged and as always professional.
What a beautiful beautiful women she was
Shortly after filming "baby Jane" , she did this filmed interview. She is so very beautiful here as just herself. 🤔😳🤗❤️
Joan Crawford ...wonderful person, actress and a citizen of the world. I knew Joan and I miss her to this day. She left us with so much.
How did you know her?

Grace & Class. “ modern” women should take notes from this masterclass.

Joan was in great form here
I cannot express how much I love this interview!

Another gift of Joan today; only wish the interview was longer and the name of reporter who knew her craft.
Love how she always looked the part 💯
Joan was so impressive, such an awesome pisces cusp, take the time to make friends, absolutely! Great advice! Joan,I try to do the same nowadays.
Style and grace!!
Great Lady!!! 💐💐👏👏
she was a very smart woman and very pretty. She loved her fans

She wore diamonds and fur and remembers your name.

It's always a pleasure to watch and listen to what Miss Joan Crawford had to say. Thank you for your magnificent channel.
Thank you!!!

The interviewer is Marie Torrie, a well known Pittsburgh journalist who was the first female newscaster in Pittsburgh.
She was so glamorous, she would have intimidated the hell out of me if I had to interview her.
Gracious and class!

She's wearing the freshwater pearls given her by Al Steele. She mentions them in My Way of Life.
Joan is interviewed by journalist Marie Torre, KDKA-TV.
Queen
❤️👏
Just freeze her laughing face at 3:22 and you see time less beauty.
It takes a minute to write a note, Joan says. Today, people can even be bothered to write a text.
