Wow. Now I see Dietrich in a different light and also my own life. I always wanted to be famous. Never happened. But my life wasn't too bad. I hope Maria Riva had a better life after the 1990´s.

At about 11:25 when Maria is talking about Marlene and Joan Crawford a lightbulb went on. I remembered watching interviews with Joan and to me she seemed obviously calculating and contrived. Marlene on the other hand appeared natural and even nonchalant about her career in interviews I’ve seen.

Maria Riva is so refreshing. She has that discernment so typical I feel of older Europeans born within that time period of WW2. Rather like my grandparents born in Eastern Europe. Same no nonsense “this is what it is and that’s it” logic.

Dear Lady I grew up with a " noble " irish Family they lost there title and wealth of coarse when the British came in and took it! But not the stigma of the nobility and royalty of the title they got from there parents! They expected me to pick up pieces now, I'm taking care of my folks in there old age..... I've come home with soap poisoning, though I really don't mean, but every so often something from being raised with this stigma of being the spare slips out. I wish you had this opportunity to feel what its like to feel like you were born as an extra person to fill in if something happens to the first 2 but it sucks!. I don't feel it's right but it does help to know that there is someone out there that feels the same way.

It's so strange that she changes her story constantly, depending on the audience. She appears to speak English very well, yet claims that she was forced to speak only German. Aber Deutsch spricht sie night so gut. So sad to be so incredibly jealous of her own mother.

Marlene Dietrich looked better at 70 than Maria Diva at 50! Marlene gave a concert at 72 recovering from a broken hip to make money for Riva's children's college fees! She left her 500,000 $ in cash and a 400,000 $ bracelet. Since her death she hasn't stopped dirtying her mother's name!
