A Dash Of Magic: Chris Johnston’s RE Amemiya x R Magic Widebody RX7

- High school sweetheart stories seem few and far between nowadays, but Chris’s RX7 journey started during those ripe years. Believe it or not, the FD was actually Chris’s first car - it began its life as a Montego Blue/Tan automatic with cut springs that, to his own admission, broke down 15 minutes into his drive home. It wasn’t exactly the ideal way to start his build, but the FD was (and still is) his dream car, so this did little to deter him from achieving his ultimate goal.
Fourteen years later, the car assumes a more familiar form to all of us - gleaming in Mazda’s OEM Sunburst Yellow paint (from the RS-R 30th Anniversary and Bathurst R Editions), full RE Amemiya aero, and about a billion other parts that create a perfect circuit-inspired vision.

beliee it or not this car started as a iirc motego blue rx7. chris has rebuilt this car many times. never given up. nice to the rva ogs of my time get notoriety!!!!
It's amazing to see what Chris has done over the years! To know it was his first car (amongst everything else he's been through with it), is ultimate goals 🏆
sad to see tuner car culture slowly fading out from popularity. more complex car manufacturing, and cost barriers to entry like rising costs of living and so many more enticing ways to spend money likely contributing to this.
Tuner car culture will always be here in some way, shape, or form. How we define it and the cars we are able to customize may change, surely. But the spirit will remain. I think that spirit is a big reason why we've seen a popularity uptick in older cars like this from JDM's golden era.

i love the RX-7 / FD3S but these over-extendet spoilers / flaps (especially at the front and rearwing) are too much for me. You killed the smooth elegant look of an icone. But hey, it´s not my car and have fun with it like it fits you.

Beautiful car, ive wanted to finish mine this year but probably next! ive never seen a more dead city. No cars anywhere on the road. Weird but cool. Id definitely get in trouble!
